who knew

while lying in bed doing my once over of facebook and my google reader before going to sleep i came across this darling DIY project. dear lizzy is only one of the most talented woman in the world... seriously i don't think there is anything she can't create! if you don't follow her hurry up and jump on the bandwagon... you wont regret it!!

i started with just an old layers basic that i never wear. i just feel like its too much plain cream...
i found a cami that i bought for like pennies that i never wear because it's like 3 sizes too big. if you need to know one thing about me, its that i can't pass up a good deal! even if it is 4ft bright yellow geometric shaped lamp i spotted driving past a garage sale... 2 for $10 whattttt. i'll post those shortly.

step 1: i cut the tank down the front center in about 1/2 - 3/4 inch strips. i used about 13 strips. if a strip is too short you can always add another one on the end.

step 2: i folded and folded and bunched and gather until i like the flow then taped the ruffles down. dear lizzie is a little more experienced than i and pin them and folded while she sewed but i found taping them with scotch tape was easier for a true beginner.
don't think too much about the ruffling.. this style and look is forgiving and shouldn't be "perfect".
step 3: after taping the ruffle i sewed down the center of the ruffle. I had my tension set to 2.5 and my stitch width set to 2.5 with a straight stitch.
tip: backstitch when you start sewing a ruffled strip and backstitch when you finish a strip.

thats it folks!!! too easy to be true?? well its not! shelly and i both got a shirt done in just under 2 hours while wrestling 2 6 month olds, chasing 2 2 year olds and entertaining one active, dragon impersonating, 2 year old little girl torturing 4 year old.
if we could do it.... you can do it!

i'm sure glad i didn't spend $38 for a similar look!
i love it... what do you think?

Virginia is for Lovers

the anderon family once again showed us the good times VA has to offer.
little dude ace wade

while we were there we got to celebrate this little lass's 4th birthday

what else is there to do with 3 girls in the back of a mini van with a camera..
we had a real good time... catch phrase anyone?

Yertle the Turtle

Yertle the Turtle king marvelous he
is king of the mud. that is all he can see
and the turtles, of course... all the turtles are free
as turtles and, maybe, all creature should be.
-dr. seuss

try telling that to these kids.
our little friendly turtle showed up literally on our doorstep and hasn't left. I guess he thinks he king of our "mud".

Easter

Sam started off our Easter right this year with delicious strawberry cream cheese stuffed french toast enjoyed with the Hyde family! yum
After our out of this world breakfast we had a tiny little easter egg hunt with the three little kids. Normally our easter egg hunts include about 5342 more Munns kids and are frantic and totally out of control. I have to agree with shell, I kinda missed it too! It was really fun to be able to see the kids enjoy the hunt.

kate was something else in her "pretty" with the white gloves.
kitten wouldn't walk in the grass so she stood at the edge and would point to the eggs for her daddy to get for her.

this dude knew just what to do

kinda hard to pull it off with those fancy gloves!

we loved golds with her Cinderella dog tag necklace!

Easter eve we decided to dye eggs with the kids... not an activity for 2 yrs. after a crazy session of dying they carried their eggs around the house in little tea cups.

my absolute most favorite thing about Easter. no kidding i think i consumed about 28,000 calories worth of Cadbury mini eggs this year.

Samson island

A couple weekends ago Sam and Austin set off on their first father son adventure.
they pack up one of the Quigley's canoes and canoed about a mile down the river to Samson island where they spent the night camping. It seriously was like Austin died and went to heaven! while they were canoeing dolphins came right up by their boat... so they pretty much were in heaven! Austin even caught a little minnow with his bare hands.

all packed in and ready to go

Kitten was sad that she was being left behind

lottagold

our baby is getting so big too fast.

i cant believe she is hitting the charts at 98%.

she officially rolls all over town, still hardly sleeps at night, eats like a maniac and giggle like her daddy at everything! she'll make you feel like the funniest person in the world!

when lottie is done (sitting, eating, sleeping really anything) she cries as if she is being chinese tortured but the second your hands touch her to pick her up she is all smiles!

we have loved every minute with our little lady even if it was at 3am for the 14th time that night.

here is her latest and greatest...

TEETH

slow down my muffin... you're growing too fast!

bang's visit to preschool

austin loved being able to talk and talk and talk about his beloved BANG

sam is so good to his kids... he scoops out a net full and then the kids then pick through to find the minnows, tadpole and baby brim

Oh Deer

Kate is quite an animal lover! Just today while we were at playgroup one of the kids came across a snake in the grass... when Kitten heard it she booked it over as fast as she could to see, but to no avail. She is always pointing out dogs, birds, squirrels and an occasional dolphin!
Our last trip to the Zoo was one for the books...
This friendly dear obliged our little animal lover with a good sesh.

I seriously turned around for a second and she made her self comfortable. Why not lay down right by his face?

2nd base!!

he doesn't even care that a bird is walking across his back!

on to the petting zoo and the llama
p.s. she insisted on having her sweater zip all the way up... silly girl!
and my sweet little Lottie loving her mama
i thought i had an animal enthusiast with Austin...
