the catcher of the year

Remember when i said Austin caught a baby loggerhead.... Well I wasn't joking

We were floating out in middle of the ocean, depth of about 100ft and Austin says

"hey munny there's a baby turtle"

Sure enough there it was a tiny baby turtle. we scooped it up and took some pathetic picture.

you may ask yourselves

"what are the chances of the entire ocean a baby turtle floats right by your boat"

We they were great. We had the reptile, amphibian, mammal, animal lover on the board!

True to form as we were trying to hurry an get out the door to school, Austin started hollerin' about something behind the car.

All the commotion over a little baby snake.

He had to keep it to show grandma who shares his love for baby snakes.

Good thing his big daddy was there to pick it up because his mama uh-uh!!!!

totally CREEPY... no matter how small and tiny and "cute" they may seem

a man and his desire...

one night my man decided it was time again to have chickens.

before i knew it I had chicken tractor plans placed before me.

he started. he didn't mess around. he completely out did himself.

Kitty got right in there and was catching chickens left and right. She'd pick them up and put them in to roost.

we love our life with chickens...

and will love the organic free range eggs that we won't have to pay $4 a dozen for at the store anymore!!

The purpose of the chicken coop:

we love having chickens... our kids especially love checking for eggs

we wanted free range BUT our past experiences with the foxes and other wildlife prove that to be impossible!

The coop is on wheels so ever night before we close them in to roost Sam moves the "tractor" to fresh grass. Hence the "free range".

of course the men pick the front seats so we are forced into back seat photoshoots

Deep sea fishing

mmmm love every second of being on the water. this year wasn't too kind to us.

spent countless hours rocking back and forth on the deep blue only to catch one pathetic Bonita.

RATS!!!!

Capt Daniel and Capt. Jordan did a superb job in trying to get us on some but... maybe next year.

now, as for my babe.... Grizz as they called him. Had nothing much to do with anything water, boat, fishing or Dramamine. He learned his lesson from last year. Instead he took the time to be with the kids and just relax.

Uncle Jordan took the little kids out for a ride to catch bait fish

who knew the girl that was terrified of loud noises, heights, a/c blowing in her face, fast slide, big pushes on the swing

would love wind blowing in her face and jumping the waves

While we were on the kids trip we decided to just head out for a bit to try to catch something. Well, we did!

My little animal man spotted a baby sea turtle floating right by the boat....

shh don't tell but we netted it and took some darling pictures of Austin with it.

Crystal River really delivered this year.

As part of the RFM reunion the locals packed up and headed to the Gulf to snorkeled for scallops.

I'm not much of a scallop eater but I enjoyed every second of catching them.

the entire trip was quite the adventure for me. Sam stayed behind to run the camp and the kids I hit the road.

Thanks to Capt. P we had smooth.... but very slow sailing!

Our bountiful trip yielded more than just scallops...

the hour ride back to the marina was pack full of prying, scraping and sloughing!

Most of our time was spent at the Hotel. Good thing we had one whole side of the 2 floor just for our family! The hallway became the gathering place. Lottie loved roaming the hall and rooms.

one of the best parts of the whole trips was... adults dinners.

We brought some top notch babysitters to helps with the mass of kids while we had some adult time!

Along with spending a lot of time in the hotel hall, we took full advantage of the pool!

of course if theres a pool there will be some races...
