HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Image
I love holidays! For Valentine's Day I always set out the kids's Valentine's the night before so when they wake up in the morning they see their Valentine's. I don't ever have to do anything big, the kids are always happy with what they get. It is just the thought that counts.  Justin's parents came Friday night and spent the night with us. We ordered pizza and ate pizza for dinner. Justin's parents brought each of the kids a sack of candy for Valentine's day and we had a Valentine for each one of them. We gave grandma chocolates and grandpa a sack of M & M's.  We stayed up and chatted with them and then the next morning they woke up and had breakfast with us and then took off to go and see Julie and Stephen for the rest of the weekend. It was Presidents's Day on Monday and so they had an extra day off and so they thought they would go and see the Carter family.  For Valentine's day we took the kids and got some ice cream and t...

SCHOOL VALENTINE PARTIES

Image
Holidays are always fun when you have kids! With Valentine's Day being on a Saturday this year, all the kids had their Valentine parties on Friday at the school. I went in and helped with Jacob and Kira's class parties. It was a FUN time! Jacob's Kindergarten Party When I got to the school, Jacob and his class were finishing their Valentine craft. They were making a heart person. I helped some of the kids finish their project and then it was time to hand out Valentines. The kids all sat in a circle and handed out their Valentines to each other. After that, the kids got to frost and decorate a heart sugar cookie. Jacob loved his Valentine's party and he got a bunch of Valentines! Jacob decorating sugar cookies. Jacob eating his sugar cookie. Jacob's Valentine holder that he made to put his Valentines in. Jacob looking through all his Valentine's at home. Kira's Valentine Party I asked Kira's teacher if there was...

KIRA'S SPOTLIGHT

Image
This week was Kira's spotlight week at school! We got to create a poster to share with the class and bring in treats.  Kira chose to take in cupcakes for her treat.  Jacob joined me and we went in to Kira's class and told them all about Kira. We took in her baby book and shared some pictures of some of Kira's favorite things to do.  Kira had been sick the past couple of days and so she was really happy to be feeling better so that we could do her spotlight. I sure love this girl!!  It was so fun going through all her pictures to create her poster...wow, how time goes by so quickly!  She has turned into such a beautiful, sweet, thoughtful, and helpful girl and I am glad I got to share this with her class.

CLEARFIELD CHEER CLINIC

Image
Kira participated in her first cheer clinic and she LOVED it!!  We have a cheerleader in our ward, Kennedy Elwell, that goes to Clearfield High School and she asked if we would be interested in the clinic. The clinic was 3 days and the girls learned 3 cheers and a dance. Then the girls would get to perform what they learned at the boy's basketball game and cheer along with the cheerleaders. At the clinic, the girls were broken up in to age groups and Kira was in the 8-10 year old group. She had quite a big group. She was excited because she knew some of the girls from school. Kennedy happened to be one of her leaders too and so that was really fun for Kira. It was fun to go and watch at the clinic. The cheerleaders taught them different cheer angles, jumps, cheers, and a dance. Kira was LOVING it, and I was loving seeing her participate!  Kira did really well, super proud of her. They gave all the girls a shirt to wear for the game and a pom pom to cheer with. Since all the s...

SPELLING BEE

Image
I am so proud of Caleb! Caleb came home from school this week and told me that he was one of the top 3 spellers in his class and so he gets to participate in the spelling bee. For the spelling bee they take the top 3 spellers from each class in the 4th-6th grades. I was happy that Caleb participated and even tried out. Friday morning was the spelling bee and the kids came and drew a number. Caleb drew the number 2 and there were 18 students participating. The fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes all came in to the gym to watch as well. Round one Caleb's word was "contain" and he spelled it right! After the first round there were only about 11 students remaining. Round two Caleb's word was "itinerary" and he spelled it wrong.  He spelled it "itenerary". He was pretty bummed! I was SO PROUD of him though for trying because talk about nerve wracking!!  I was super nervous, I couldn't image what the students were feeling. I am so happy that C...
