It's been a while since I've been in what Anne of Green Gables calls a "scrape." But yesterday, well, here's what happened...
Elizabeth was NOT feeling well. She just was out of sorts and kinda cranky. I was busy getting Gianna's lunch ready for school. I was rocking it because I was early. I had a few minutes to load the dishwasher before I had to pack the kids up. Before I could finish, I look up to see Cosette is crying because she fell. Not unusual as we have tile floors and any wetness on the floor means a baby is going to fall and cry loudly over it. I go to pick her up and realize she is standing in throw-up. YUCK. But guess what- so is Elizabeth and it's actually hers. E is crying C is crying and I'm trying not to get baby throw up on me because I've already gotten ready and put on make-up and stuff.
No. such. luck.
She got some on my jeans so after I clean off babies and get new clothes for them on, I look down and realize I need some new ones too. I put all the dirty clothes in the laundry room and get new jeans from the laundry room. I strategically placed them there so that I would always have a spare if I ever needed it. It was NOT because I have not put away laundry in about a week and a lot of clean clothes now call the laundry room their home and not a closet.
I run put the girls in the car and realize I can't find my phone. I strap them in and run frantically around the house looking for it. I got a cold chill- the washer! I go and look- nothing. I can't find it in there so it must be someplace else. It was late now and I would be relying on the good graces of the drive through ladies hoping that they were still at their posts. I had to try the washer again and I unloaded it wet soggy piece by wet soggy piece. NOTHING! UGGG. I give up on the phone and drive G to school. I did find my McCalisters sweet tea card with ONE punch away from a FREE tea.
After I took G to school and came home I found my phone in the bottom of the washing machine. It was clean. And not working. I emailed John and he came home to save it (me) and take me to lunch at McCalisters where I was not to get a free tea that day.
Guess what Elizabeth did in the line of McCalisters? Yup up-chuck. And why O why did I feel the need to catch it in my hands? Like it's golden throw up and I have to save it from falling.
We got our order to go.
I went home and took a shower.
And the phone. Well the phone is sitting in rice.
No one has thrown up today!
