Day 3- Washington DC (Part II)

Where should I begin..
So after the tour at library of congress we went back to US Capitol and grabbed some lunch.I was actually very excited to see the library bc it was featured in the movie- National Treasure. But what can I say, I'm a bit dissapointed. After makan we decided to ronda2 amik gamba.And from the US Capitol jalan ke Supreme Court- then headed to Washington Monument. It was a long stretch of walking maybe 2-3 miles and it was very HOT! And beverages were sold at $5 per 16 oz of glass, that's like a small cup. Cekik darah.
Jalan punya jalan sampai la ke W monument. Took some pics and konon2 nak pegi the next day naik monument.

Then back to the hotel, freshen up and dinner at malaysian kopitiam- sedap! I want kuey teow now!!!

 That's the end of the first day at DC. We did miles of walking on the first day.. phew. Penat! But the hotel is the best, it's all worth it.

Wagon Ride @ Riverfront Park

Bought this Little Tikes Wagon Trailer for Irfan years ago, but Irfan wasn’t really into it. So we saved it, and now Feyruz could ride it to the park yeayyyy He’s still too small though. We put a pillow so that he couldn’t move that much.

Pretty Things

I love love love pretty things. Recently I bought quite a bit of cute stuff. Here are some oversize rings that I bought last week, and some that I bought today! I think they are lovely.

When it comes to jewelery I've never had the desire to accessorize myself with rings.. never. Selalu rasa rimas. I prefer bracelets and necklaces. Then I saw this oversize rings, tried them on and WOW.. they are fabulous. It's like you're making a statement to the world- look at me! Hahaha... yepp I'm an attention seeker.

And today I have it on for the first time.. wore it to the mall. I had the spiky- bermata2 ring on (the one on the right), and I was standing at the cashier to pay for the stuff that I was about to buy and the girl at the counter said
I love the ring that you have on... it's pretty. Where did you get it?

Weeeeeeeeeeeee... I think I have good taste :) And the best part is.. all of them are about $2-3... Well, regular price was around $18-20 per pc. I bought them on sale of course.
 The two white flowery rings (left and center) look almost them same, but from different store. I don't know which one I should keep. Any ideas?

Here's another one that I'm going to get. Gem is getting it for me online, I hope it'll fit me and hope it won't get lost too - gem didn't put the right address when she bought it!! Oh my ..

Day 3- Washington DC (Part I)

The first day at DC was a bit frustrating. We had some problems with the place that we stayed at- not comfortable and berhabuk. Plus Irfan big pee pee on the bed! Adoi anak ku sorang. Started off the night before, Irfan kan tak tahan sgt nak big pee pee, but when we got to the place dia dah tak jadi kot, tahan punya lama. So the next morning, I woke up mandi2 by the time I got back- irfan was on the bed playing with his diaper! And he said 'why did you pee pee on the bed?'. And I saw his big pee pee on the bed!! Yucky!
We got to clean it up and looked for a hotel to stay for the night.

Here's the room that we stayed at- Residence Inn Marriot. Marvelous place with breakfast buffet!  I love love love the room. It's spacious and the deco is very much to my liking.

 

 

 Anyway back to the tour of the day- DC monuments and US capitol. We were ready by 12 o'clock, made our way to US Capitol. Had an reservation for tour in US capitol at 12:40. Rushing punya rushing made it to the tour at 1:00. The tour guide brought us to see some halls- I really couldn't remember the significance of the place. Humm.. I kinda lost actually didn't really pay attention to the tour. If I remember correctly that's the place where the laws and legal stuff were determined. The president and senates discuss about the proposed bills and if agreed, becomes the new regulation/ law. There's an actual conference office in there where they do meetings. It's open to public but we didn't get to see it because they were not open on the weekends.

Irfan as usual wasn't very amused with the whole legal stuff (there's actually a lot of statues in the building too). He was so restless so half of the tour was just dealing with cranky Irfan, menangis melalak.. our tour group wasn't very please with Irfan (including the mama and dada of course). Geram je aku rasa dgn si Irfan masa tu, melalak dalam enclosed building plak tuh so bergemala.. then he felt asleep. Thank God.

Moving on, we went to see the Library of Congress. It's pretty much... a library hehe. Actually we didn't get to see the actual library.. it was more of a museum I should say. The library is connected to US Capitol through an underground tunnel. So kami pun berjalan2, it's quite interesting to read all the history of USA, civil war, declaration of independence, all the past presidents etc... very interesting. Given that we didn't have much time, kami pun amik2 gamba je la. Huhuhu..

Everybody was not in a good mood- all because of the cranky monster.

Day 2- Boston to Washington DC

The second day of our roadtrip was kind of boring..we were on the road for 10 hours driving from Boston to DC. It was supposed to be an 8 hrs drive, but the traffic from Bos to NYC was just crazy. Nasib baik irfan behaved jela. I bought some small toys when we were on the road so dia tak merengek.

On our way to DC, Irfan peed at a public toilet for the first time.He's always scared of the public toilet-mainly because of the sound of the hand dryer and the flush. kan kuat semacam compared to regular toilets. Hotels toilet are fine- memilih la ini budak. He's just too cute.
Sampai DC quite late around 10 pm. Irfan dah menahan nak 'big pee pee' (he meant nak no 2 heheh). He couldn't pee in his pull ups (konon tak biasa la kan). But our place to stay for the night tak ready lagi- there was some party going on in the building. So irfan asyik la merayu- rayu...' Want to pee pee.. Pee pee' sedih la aku tgk kan si budak sorang ni.we drove around to look for a place/ public restroom- singgah gas station, walgreens- no restroom! Even to look for parking was so damn difficult. Ape kejadahnye. Yg si anak sorang ni dah tak tertahan2. Sedih betul. Finally at 12 or so dapat masuk the so called Inn- and oh my goodness.. Very dissapointing. But ok la for one night stay. Kesian irfan menahan big pee pee dia sampai tgh malam huhu- alamk this entry is more about irfan and his big pee pee pulak huhuh.. to be continued about the big pee pee

Day 1- Kansas City, MO to Boston, MA

We woke up at 5 AM to catch our 8 AM flight. Mandi2 getting ready, Irfan was the last one to get ready. Kesian dia tido pukul 12 lebih and has to wake up at 5:30 AM the next day. He's not really used to sleeping at a hotel so the night before terkebil2 tak boleh tido hehe.

We took a shuttle to the airport. By the time we got to the airport, there were tons of people lining up. It's 4th of July weekend, everybody has travel plans. Nasib baik sampai awal. Security was ok, nothing to complain. Had some breakfast that Gem made for us- nasi & mee goreng. yummy.

We arrived at Boston at about 12:30 pm, picked up our rental car and by the time we got to the hotel it was almost 3 pm. It was so tiring. Irfan wasn't feeling very well- he's annoyed dgn hidung dia. I think he's allergic to the dust from the airport or something. Asyik2 blowing and wiping his nose- but no selsema or anything.

About 4:30 pm we headed to downtown Boston- first stop was Boston Commons so that we can walk along the freedom trail. Found a ridiculously expensive parking, and started walking. Tak jumpa2 the freedom trail. Finally jumpa but jalan halfway couldn't find the rest of it. Ingat nak check google map, my kaput BB wasn't working. Tension.

Faneuil Hall- Quincy Market

Our first stop was the Quincy Market- it's a building/ market with tons of people selling souvenirs, popular boston sea food etc. Pretty good crowd- and everything costs way too much huhu. I bought a small magnet for $8! Quincy Market is similar to Pike Market in Seattle.

Then we continued our walk to the North End area.It's pretty much the harbor with nice view.

After a long walk (2 miles I'm guessing), dah penat sgt so stopped at the most popular pastry/ dessert shop in Boston- Mike's Pastry. We ordered some cannolis and they are the best that I've ever tasted.
And there were about 30 people lining up waiting for their turn- to get a bite of Mike's Cannoli. It's absolutely worth it. There's only one reason I'd go back to Boston- for the cannoli hehehe. (I think I kinda sound like Amin & Gem now, it's all about good food)

Then we headed back to our parking lot- got a bit lost. Ate some Lobster Rolls for dinner- a must try! Off to bed. Oh now I feel like going back to Boston :(

Day 0- Kansas City, MO

Day #0 of our trip- Kansas City (KC), MO. We flew off to Boston from the Kansas City Airport. We're flying on Frontier Airlines and allowed to bring 1 carry on luggage + 1 personal bag (handbag/laptop bag) per person. I was having a hard time fitting in 9 days of clothing in a small bag.

Late June 29 (around 3:30 pm), we headed to KC and spent several hours at Gem's place. Irfan got to play with Muhsin for the last time, suka betul Irfan. He's so content sampai mcm overwhelmed with the whole thing. Hehehe.. gem bought an organic cake.. it's one of the best cake that I've ever tasted. Very yummy. Even the icing was delicious- I never really like cake icing.

Then we spent the night at KC Hilton.
