50:13 Unfathomable

13) Your first love 💕

Featured Image -- 11308

I would have to say, my first true love arrived with my first child. Her birth saved my life; she gave me a reason to live. Thankfully, I went on to have four more children, and because love is such an unfathomable thing, and it grows and stretches and accommodates everyone equally into its fold, I was, and am still, deeply in love with my growing family.

However, as true and as wonderful as my love for them is, it was not until Jesus first loved me that I was able to accept, and believe, others love of me in return.

I always felt unworthy and that I needed to earn their love, and be perfect to keep it.

And obviously I am not perfect, thus I was never secure.

Well, my Lord and Savior changed all that when He wrapped His grace round me tight and held me close. It is indescribable, that blanket of pure bliss, so I will give up the effort.

Only say, that all things are possible for God, and being indwelt by His Spirit gives me a strength I could never have dreamed of, and peace and joy and contentment, regardless of my circumstance.

So, if He loves me like that, who am I to question God.

I must be worthy after all, just as I am.

12) A how-to post on something you know nothing about.

cropped-cropped-fullsizerender.jpg

I do many things I know absolutely nothing about, and I manage to do this by utilizing my resources, or in other words, I ask my splendiforous children.

Unfortunately this doesn’t make much of a how to post, because what do I say besides, I ask? However I can share one of the ventures I have done without know-how before hand, or to be completely honest, without enough know-how even now.

It began with the discovery of the therapeutic nature of a shovel.

Thus began the Great Grass War…

Which is still in progress at this point…..

We have reached the far side of the front yard, where things have stalled as they tend to do around here. Well at least until the blazing sun gives us some respite, or the muscles come home for a visit.

I suppose I can end by sharing that my view of utilizing my resources changed significantly when I began homeschooling my youngest two children. For at the public school it was frowned upon to ask others for the answers, as if it was cheating. But I came to understand that it didn’t matter how you came to learn something as long as you did learn it. I mean really isn’t that the point?

Why has learning become a competition, rather than the simple pursuit of knowledge?

Anyway, I found it liberating to realize a significant part of homeschooling was about learning how to learn more than anything else, and that I was not going to have to spoon-feed every lesson forever, because once they learned how to take an objective and find the answers themselves, they were unstoppable.

Well, this is not going as I wanted, it appears that I have not yet learned how to easily communicate what I mean.

But then again, when has not knowing how ever stopped me before ;)

Rascally Rabbit

As most everything is finishing in anticipation of the winter, I wait for the one last hurrah of Autumn from the few sprawling chrysanthemum plants, but alas, the dang nabbit rabbit has decided that she wants to eat them this year, and as I was contemplating the life span of bunnies, and feeling a bit like Elmer Fudd….

My grandson walks up and does this, and I remember why we let Bat Bunny have her way with the flowers…..sigh

And I didn’t know rabbits like to be scratched behind the ears, did you?

Blue Sky Smiling

Diana at Myths of the mirror posted a play along for anyone who wanted to join. Of course it is a list so how could I resist!

As usual though, there are a few rules:

Use the Blue Sky banner  (that Rachael Ritchey designed).

It is sort of polite to mention the person who tagged you.

You need to answer the 11 questions set by your tagger.

You will need to make up 11 original and interesting or funny questions for those you tag.

You need to tag 11 people.

Here are Diana’s questions:

1) What country have you never visited but would love to, and why?

The USA, I live here, but that is different than visiting. So when I am able, I want to be a tourist in my own country. Besides, I speak the language, kinda.

2) What person in your life (not including family members) has most shaped who you are today?

Not one person, but hundreds that I have never met. The authors of my favorite books. Well perhaps some of them are not favorites, just thought provoking and memorable.

3) List three things that make you happy?

Lazy Saturdays, Smooth Music, Cotton Sheets, Hummingbirds, The smell of fresh cut lumber, Christmas Lights, and the Colors of the Sunrise.

4) What’s your favorite genre to read?

I like too many genres to choose just one, but books in a series are my favorite to discover, because they can give more depth to the characters, so the connection is stronger, but alas, all the more sad it is to finish, and to have to say goodbye.

5) What time period in history most intrigues you, and why?

The future, because anything is possible.

6) If you could add a new talent to your repertoire, what would it be, and why?

Waltzing. Just because.

7) Where is your favorite place in the world, and why?

Drinking fresh brewed coffee over an early morning campfire. No responsibilities, and a cornucopia of smells, sights, and sounds.

8) What animal best describes your personality, and why?

Eeyore, I am such an optimistic pessimist.

9) What’s your favorite recipe (and please share it)?

Bacon: 1) go to the store and buy some. 2) open the package with a knife. 3) cook it in a hot pan, flipping with a fork occasionally. 4) remove finished strips to platter covered with several paper towels. 5) Eat it all.

10) Hiking boots, sneakers, heels, or flip-flops?

Clogs

11) Would you rather have tons of love and little wealth, or tons of wealth and little love?

Well love is hands down better than wealth and I would want it over the other without hesitation, but if I get to choose, I want both.

Now the hard part: 11 Questions to be asked.

1. Which would it be if you had to pick, books or movies?

2. If you have used Facebook or it’s ilk, did you like your friends and family better before, or after, they accepted your friend request?

3. If you could time travel, where would you go, and why?

4. Would you wish to relive your same life if you could?

5. If you could change the number of siblings you have, would you?

6. Do you really have a favorite color, or are you just saying you do? Really think about it. If you hadn’t been asked the question since before you can remember, would you?

7. Can you dance, beyond just shaking it up a bit? Silly question really, but I am curious how many people have ever really learned how to dance.

8. Name one thing you are afraid of, and why. If it doesn’t terrify you, that is.

9. Are you an adventurous or picky eater, and why do you think you ended up as such?

10. Can you name a common place item from your lifetime that you think will disappear before you do? For instance the dial telephone in mine.

11. Do you like your name? Is it one you had to grow into to love, or are you still irritated with your parents for giving it to you?

And I tag… everyone who wants to play. Enjoy!

And be sure to stop by Diana’s and check out her amazing blog. If you enjoy reading, her books are fabulous.

50:11 never in a million years

11) Your celebrity dinner party. Who would you invite?

IMG_1158

Well definitely not anyone who is even remotely famous. I say this because one likes to think they would be all cool and blasé when encountering a well know personage, but no, not me. I become awkward and uncomfortable, thus it is a miserable experience. So never in a million years would I consider hosting a party that would torment me no end.

However, I decided not to end this post with such an easy out, and instead try to consider who, if anyone, I would possibly want to venture out of my self imposed bubble to entertain.

It cannot be my family, that would be cheating. It has to be someone new, therefore someone risky. Risky in the sense that the entire venture could be for naught and fraught with peril of the social kind.

Well as I sit here typing, it came to me. There are several, if not many, bloggers out there, I imagine I would enjoy sharing a meal with. There would be all the elements of a fine evening of stimulating conversation, or alas, it could be an unmitigated disaster.

For what if they are as socially awkward as I am, and neither one of us knows how to begin, or in my case, because I am known to babble uncontrollably when nervous, it could not be silence that is the problem, but incessant speech, and then at the conclusion of the evening, regardless of spacious silence or crushing motor mouth, to have it end with nothing but a great sigh of relieve that it is over.

But, and I love buts, it could also be entirely lovely.

It’s just too bad we will never find out.
