This version of Keith Jarrett's legendary 1975 Bremen performance was downloaded from BigO Worldwide, a great resource for bootlegs from a variety of artists. The original recording was shared in 3 files, "Improv 1", "Improv 2", and "Treasure Island". Big O split the improvisations into smaller segments to allow for easier downloading from their website. This show took place just 9 days after the equally legendary Koln 1975 concert which has been released by Keith. This makes a great companion piece to that release!

Supergroups some times look better on paper than they do in the flesh. Some times they just don't equal the sum of the parts. Who ever thought to put together The Highwaymen was a freaking genius! Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, & Kris Kristofferson on one stage, in the same group, you know it had to be good, right? These four gentleman embodied the soul of Outlaw Country. If you like anyone of the Country Music Legends that are in this band you absolutely must have this show in your collection!

It's no secret I love Chick Corea's music. I have featured quite a few recordings from Chick in many incarnations. This recording with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is fabulous. With the larger band Chick has expanded the arrangements for extra instrumentation. The vocalizations of Sissel Vera Petterson add a unique flavor as well.

More Spanish Guitar flavored Jazz from the master Al Di Meola. Al's step away from the electric guitar came from necessity. He has suffered hearing damage from playing at loud volumes and has tinnitus. The acoustic guitar gives him less discomfort than an electric. Al's style of playing was a huge influence on the Heavy Metal genre, influencing many Shredders like Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and James Murphy (Death, Testament, Obituary, Konkra) who recorded a version of Di Meola's "Race with Devil on Spanish Highway" on his solo album. This recording is highly recommended for all lovers of guitar driven music, Jazz, Metal, Rock or other.

Another great pick from Rosebud's Ozzy Osbourne collection. The Bark At The Moon World Tour was a pretty rough one for Ozzy who was still dealing with the loss of his friend and guitarist Randy Rhoads. The bands line-up changed a couple times during the tour with Don Costa, Pete Way and Bob Daisley taking turns on bass, Tommy Aldridge and Carmine Appice taking turns on the drums, Don Airey and Lindsay Bridgewater at the keyboards, Jake E. Lee on guitar would be the only constant member. When the tour hit Detroit the line-up had shifted, my friend Gypsy Dan bought a program and it had paper inserts to explain the line up changes as the program featured a different band than was on stage. Ozzy's drug and alcohol abuse grew. He would some times be too inebriated to give a decent vocal performance. That being said Ozzy sounds really good here on this all too short recording. So all Ozzy & Sabbath fans should add this one to their collections.

Allegedly Eric Clapton's label intended on releasing a double live LP from the Phil Collins era. Many shows were recorded and tracks were selected. The label shelved the idea because the Crossroads Box Set was finished and label executives felt a live album would draw sales away from the box set. Bootlegs from these soundboards have been released, several of which are claimed to be the "Unreleased Live Album"  this is one of those.  The performances on this album are top notch and the sound is clear with little audience noise. Every Clapton fan should add this double CD set to their collection.

No stranger to those who have been following The New JDP's Sunday Morning Jazz Series. We have posted quite a few recordings featuring saxophonist Joshua Redman (click here). Joshua is the son of saxophone Legend Dewey Redman (R.I.P.). As well as leading his own bands Joshua Redman has played with Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock and his father Dewey Redman. This great show is worth downloading just to hear the trio break into Led Zeppelin's The Ocean.

Haven't Done This In A While

Just wanted to say a few things. First I wanted to apologize for the posts coming a little slow. I have been quite busy at work putting in an average of 65 hours a week. This kind of takes away from the available time I have to work on the site, not to mention can make one tired. So this Sunday's posting has 6 new shows to keep you busy downloading (for a little while at least lol). We have a new one from the Legendary Earth, Wind & Fire. A 3 part spotlight on guitarist Nels Cline which includes a show from the Nels Cline Singers, Medeski, Martin & Wood with Nels Cline, and a 2016 show from Wilco. Also a double shot of one of my favs Chic Corea, one with Gary Burton and one with The Vigil.

I also wanted to take the time and thank everyone who stops by. We are now averaging over 800 hits a day.  We are also up to 20 followers! Thank you very much for choosing to follow our humble music blog!

Third I just want to remind everyone to visit our friends at the blogs listed on our site. Variety is the spice of life and a wide variety of music can be found by visiting So Many Roads To Ease My Soul, Floppy Boot Stomp, Voodoo Wagon, Camarillo Brillo, The Midnight Cafe, Brooklyn Steve, Arizona Jones, and The Hear Rock City Forum.

One last thing Rosebud's Picks will be returning, Rosebud has been busy with her studies (she's studying computer programing) and hasn't been able to go through her vast collection of shows to make selections. As of late she has found some time and has picked a few gems for next week.

Thanks for listening and enjoy the tunes!

The first offering for today's Sunday Morning Jazz is from Chick Corea & The Vigil. If your not downloading this one already then your not a fan of Chick Corea's music (just kidding JD). Personally I can't get enough of Chick's music and have quite a few boots from him with many different groups. This is one of my favorites. Lots of extended jamming on each track with the shortest song being a little over 10 minutes.

Our second Sunday Morning Jazz offering comes from the pairing of 2 Jazz Legends. Chic Corea and Gary Burton have been performing duet shows for a couple decades now and have an awesome musical relationship. Any one who is a regular visitor to The New JDP knows how much I love the music of Chic Corea, this show has been in heavy rotation on my MP3 player for a month now and I don't see it slowing down in the near future. The sound is very fine and also we get Chic playing vibes on "Armando's Rumba"! Don't miss this one!
