This Would Be My Kid

I didn't stay up or get up early to watch the wedding. I do think it is cool to watch, but need my sleep more. I watched clips and stuff as I exercised this morning and found parts of it to be sweet, loved the pageantry, and just generally smiled as I watched everything. One thing I saw totally made me laugh, though. This picture captures it well - the little girl at the front plugging her ears as the crowd cheers the "kiss." I could totally see that being Isaac or Kate (mostly Isaac, since that's what he did 75% of the time at Disneyland last year).

I have started, several times, to post a little bit of what we've done this week and some of our Easter pictures. I will get to that maybe this weekend. Maybe. Life gets busy, doesn't it?

Fun things and thoughts

A wonderful afternoon activity for a 2 year old, me thinks.
(Even if she is in Andrew's bouncer...)

Coloring Easter eggs!

A fun surprise for Steve.

  • I am really entertained lately by Isaac and Kate playing together. He always takes the lead, so they play what he wants. I heard him ask if she wanted to play "Babies Cook." A couple weeks ago it was "American Sharks, American Families." First, do both of these games sound like just really bad ideas to you? I should have listened in to hear how the sharks and families thing worked. Second, I am amused that he labels and gives a title to what they are playing.
  • Andrew's 2 month appointment proved that he is a growing boy: 12 lbs 13 oz (76th percentile), 23 inches long. I love the fact that we have a bigger baby. Not that he's huge, but for our family he is. We love kissing his little fat rolls. I love his cheeks, too. They kind of squish when you kiss them and I LOVE IT!
  • By another name: Grumpy (from Snow White) is Santa; the neighbor's smallish dog with ears that stick up is a kitty (Kate looks out the window and says " Hello, Kitty."); and according to Isaac, tights are "sock pants."
  • This morning we got to be part of a fun surprise for Steve at his school. The community foundation sponsors an award for one teacher and one staff member at each school in the district, sort of a teacher of the year award. This award, the ACE award, is based on nominations from students, parents, and other teachers. This year Steve is the teacher ACE award winner at his school! The principal, foundation members, superintendent, and our little family plus Steve's Mom were able to surprise him with the news in his classroom this morning. We think he kept saying something like, "I'm so embarrassed!" Even if he doesn't want the attention, I am sure proud of him. There are many deserving teachers at his school, so it is quite an honor for him.
  • Over spring break we were able to do a bunch of fun stuff together including planting some cold-hardy vegetables in our garden and bowling as a family. It probably doesn't need to be said what not good bowlers we are if Kate came in first place (I think hers was a 12o.)
HAVE A HAPPY EASTER!!

Andrew's Blessing Day

My baby boy.

My sweet kids. (Andrew was ready to eat at this point. He hasn't missed a meal yet.)

Our sweet little family.

Andrew must be a morning person because he always smiles the best in the morning.

I know it is too soon for another post, especially given the increasing distance between them, but I had to share bits of our day today. Andrew was given a name and a blessing in church today and we were able to have our sweet families there with us. (Thanks for making the drive at a time when most of us are not up and at them on Sunday mornings!) What a great day it was!

Learning...

Learning to accessorize.

Learning to smile. (I have a blurry picture of a bigger smile than this, but this will do.)

Learning to tie shoes. Apparently Isaac needs a little more coaching...
and Steve will need a little time to undo this lace tying session.

And Steve and I are reading as much as we can to figure out what we are going to do with our yard this summer. This daffodil, besides the grass planted last fall, is the first real success in our yard. We are hoping for many more successes to come.
