Introducing James Rockford Wright

Our little guy is finally here.  He made his arrival on March 17th, St. Patricks Day, after 16 hours of labor.  Luckily 12 of the was with an epidural.  To those of you natural people...major kudos.  I had about an hour of 3-4 minute contractions and that was enough for me to know that an epidural was the right choice.  The epidural didn't work completely at the end and I was able to feel the contractions in one of my legs.  I was actually glad for it because then I knew when to push instead of relying on only the machines.  I only pushed for about a half hour, it probably could have been shorter but we were waiting for the Dr. arrive.  So I guess it was really pushing and waiting - not just pushing.  At 4:07 pm little James was born.  He was 8lbs 7 ounces and 21 3/4 inches long.  He had a massive cone head from being in the birth canal for so long.  I was able to hold him for just a minute because he had swallowed his marconium.  They were worried it had gone into his lungs.  They kept him in the nursery for a while and when he looked good they brought him to us.  It was almost surreal.  I couldn't believe we were parents.

James has been so fun to have around.  He slept 4 hours straight the second night he was home.  For the most part he sleeps 4-5 hours.  It has been nice.  We are still trying to figure out the feeding thing.  He does well during the day but at night, before bed, he wants to constantly eat.

He has managed to shoot poop onto my pants.  He has peed on his face, over his shoulder, and with a diaper on but managed to not get any in his diaper just all over his clothes.

He is so sweet and loves to cuddle with me which I LOVE!

Some surprising things for me after pregnancy....
-STRETCH MARKS - where did these come from?  I was sure I was stretch mark free.  As my tummy deflates I am finding that they are multiplying at an extremely rapid rate.
-Pre-pregnancy pants.  Hate me ladies.  Mine fit.  Okay Okay...they are stretch pants.....and I also wore them during pregnancy.  But it was still fun to say.
-The doughnut - my new best friend.  Sitting used to be painful until I started using THE DOUGHNUT.  Now I can sit with only minor discomfort.
-Leakage - that is all I will say about that.

-Love - loving the little guy more than I thought possible.

***Update***

The Dr.'s office called to let me know that they had changed the induction date.  I thought for sure they were going to give me a later date but to my surprise they changed it to tomorrow! (Tuesday) Yikes.

Wish us luck, pray for us, and well, next time I post we will probably be parents!

D Day

It has been officially decided that if the boy doesn't come by Thursday he will be forced out.  Hopefully in a way that will work for him and me.

Luckily my Dr. is out of town on the due date we were given.  So she said that Thursday night would work out well for her.  It just so happened that Thursday night works out well for us too.

Here are my latest stats.

Up two pounds for a total of almost 50.  That number is absolutely shocking to me.  I'm hoping that a lot of it is water weight.  I seem to be carrying a lot in my ankles and now my knees are developing little smiles of their own.  I definitely could have put a little more effort into exercising.

I don't sleep unless it is past 5:00 am.  Because of this reason I am starting my maternity leave Monday.

The boy's room is coming together.  A very special thanks to a fantastic friend who painted it for us.

I am still only dilated to a one, and about 50% effaced.

I am so excited to meet this little guy.

Bummer

Today I had a Dr. appointment.  I was hoping for some changes because I had a somewhat painful weekend.  Not bad, just more painful than usual.  The Dr. checked me out and I was just the same as last week.  No changes anywhere....oh wait I did gain a pound.  That really wasn't the change I was looking for.

Let the power walks begin!
