5 months

It is so hard to believe that James is all ready 5 months old.  We don't have a Dr.'s appointment this month so his only stat is that he is growing.

He is still an awesome sleeper.  We are at about a constant 12 hours a night.
He takes 3-4 naps during the day.  They vary in length from 30 mins. to 3 hours.
He LOVES when Rocky comes home.  It melts my heart to see how excited he gets when he hears his voice.
He gets very distracted while he is eating, especially when dad is around.
He LOVES my cell phone, well really he loves anything I am using.
He is very vocal.
He loves to go for walks in the stroller.
He loves to be outside.
He is really working on sitting up.
He doesn't like to be in the swing unless it is pulled up by the table while Rocky and I eat.
He wants to be a part of whatever we are doing.
He loves to jump in his jumper.
He is rolling all over the place.
He LOVES paper
He really likes being in the baby bjorn so he can do whatever I am doing.
He likes playing in the tub.
He is just all around delightful.

This is what happens when I sit on Mommy's lap while she eats cherries.
First time rolling from back to stomach - doesn't he look so proud of himself?
I just love this photo
Same with this one.
Reading the Ensign and pulling...err...ripping out his favorite pages for future use.
I just love this little guy

First play date with a GIRL
Such a ladies man....all ready trying to hold hands. Sheesh
Just a good ole' laugh
Trying to get Daddy to share some of his chip.
Playing with Daddy's face.
I cannot get enough of this nose scrunch thing.  Whatever facial muscles you need to do this, he was definitely blessed with them.  He can do one side or both sides, or the other one side and he uses them frequently.
Sigh.....

How to MEAN BUSINESS

Is growling a boy thing or a baby James thing?

Rice Cereal

So whenever Rocky and I eat we are watched like a hawk by James.  Actually he watches the food - intently.  He wants it oh so bad.  At least that is how I interpret those big begging blue eyes.  The Pediatrician gave me the go for Rice Cereal when he was 4 months old.  Just 4 months old....my baby???? no way!  I wasn't quite ready for it.  It took me a good three weeks to work up to it.  Finally when I was ready we gave it a go........

see what you think -

Use your imagination

First picture a beautiful, very warm summer day with a light breeze.  Oh so nice.  Next picture a clothes line with some cute colorful little diapers outside on the line.  So nice - so peaceful.

Next picture yourself sitting at your computer in your basement.  You are working on fun projects and your baby is so happy to sit and play next to you.....Then you hear something odd.  Something is hitting the window.  You think for a minute and wonder what it could be.  Then it hits you like a ton of bricks - RAIN.  You run upstairs to find that it is not just little rain ......... its HUGE, HUGE! wind blowing RAIN!  Like a crazy nasty storm with lightning and thunder and major wind.  You look out the window at your once happy drying diapers.  They are soaked and sad and looking like they could blow off the line any second.  ACK!  What to do?  You think and watch and think and wonder if you should leave them out there.  You wonder if you should check the weather and see if it is going to pass soon.  Then you decide you are Superwoman.  No time for weather checks YOU MUST SAVE THE DIAPERS.   And in your mind you are shouting/chanting the following -
SAVE THE DIAPERS - SAVE THE WORLD

Quickly you run to the front door.  Shoes...shoes....ah ha RAINBOOTS!  You think jacket?  no jacket?  Look in the closet - Yes!  Maternity coat (nice and big).  You think umbrella (look at the wind and blowing rain and decide) no umbrella, after all you are Superwoman.  You bust open the door, hold on to your coat and run.

------------------
Just thinking about this makes me laugh.  Wish I had it on camera.

This was my superwoman moment today.  Did you have one?

The diapers are safe and warming/drying in the dryer.

The Ohio State Fair - Home of fried EVERYTHING

Did you know that you can fry just about everything here in Ohio?  There are your basics like french fries, fried green tomatoes, and fried twinkies.....but have you ever had/heard of fried poptarts, oreos, snickers, mac n' cheese, manicotti?  Really the list goes on and on.  All of these were found at our state fair.  Whoo weee.

We tried the fried poptart

fried twinkie

and fried oreos

James is sad because mom wouldn't let him get a fried binkie (really this is his reaction to me at the pig races)

Whitney's fried Twinkie

This is me!  I am so excited because I got picked to be a pig cheerer - what does that entail you ask?  Well you cheer really hard for your pig - like go crazy because you want it to win because if it wins you get a blue ribbon and a sticker.  I cheered like a mad man for my little piggy to win.  He came in last.  The 3 other cheerers were under 12 years old.  :)  I wonder if I went a little too mad and maybe scared my little piggy.....I know I scared James.

James didn't like Mom cheering for the pig - he didn't like it when anyone cheered for the pigs so dad sacrificed and missed out on the pig races.

If you look close you can see little pig heads.  They kept peeking out of their starting box.  I thought it was so funny and cute. (if you click on the picture it will make it bigger)

The pigs RACING - why are they willing to race?  They get iced oatmeal cookies at the end.
These lovely ladies LOVE their iced oatmeal cookies....looks like they have had a few huh?
Whitney and Devon trying out Davey Jones Locker.  Devon loves it.
Yes, you can even get one of these at the fair, with a cherry on top - YUM!

Note to self: Things to avoid

do not - I repeat - DO NOT go walking until after you have checked the "feels like temperature."
Today's temp - 88.  Today's feels like temp - 102.

do not, DO NOT go walking when the feels like temp is 102 and it is garbage day.
you will never ever think your neighborhood is nice because it will smell soooooooooo bad and you will consider never walking again.

do not, DO NOT subject your super cute 4 month old to super hot, super stinky walks.
luckily my little man chose to be lethargic instead of angry.  I'm pretty sure I would have picked angry with a side of more angry.

do not, DO NOT leave a bag of super yummy cheese bagels on your counter to tempt you every time you walk by.
this will make you feel like you need to walk on an 88 degree, feels like 102 degree day.

On the bright side - I think I dropped 10 pounds of sweat today.
On the not so bright side - I smell like I dropped about 10 lbs of sweat today.
