12 Month Stats

Michael had his 12 month well baby check up today. He was a little cranky this morning but managed to survive the shots and Dr. visit. He even fell asleep on the way home. I think he was tired through the whole appointment and maybe a little hungry. Bad mama. I didn't feel like taking him in the stroller or taking our gigantic diaper bag so I carried him just brought an extra diaper and wipes in my purse. I should have brought some cheerios, he only had a bottle before we went. We woke up a little later then expected. I think we were both worn out still from our busy weekend with the family visiting. Okay so onto the results of our pudgy fingered little boy, I mean baby boy.

12 Months Stats:

Weight 24lbs 2.5 oz
Height 30.12 in or 76.5 CM
Head 47.5 cm or 18.7 Inches

What does all this mean?

He's a very healthy baby boy in the 50-75th percentile for all categories. He appears to be very well rounded, even in the belly department.

Michael's 1st Birthday Georgia Style

Michael's theme for his 1st birthday was Georgia Bulldog Football. Michael really enjoyed his first birthday with family and friends. Some of Joe's family even joined us via web cam. All in attendance were: My mom, dad, Shelby, McKenzie, Laura, Dirk & Hayden & our neighbor Chris- his wife was out of town with their baby boy. Via web cam we had: Nana, Papa, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Matt, cousin Cody, cousin Aubrey, Aunt Sarah, cousin Sydney & cousin Olivia via her crib.

We ate hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken off the grill. We also had fresh salsa & chips, spinach dip, potato salad, watermelon & pineapple. Perfect chocolate cupcakes were also devoured.

Michael received lots of fun new toys, books and a ton of clothes.

Michael really enjoyed his cupcake. I've never seen him so excited to eat something before. Everyone kept saying that he was looking at me like "why haven't you given this to me before?". I also made a fondant football cake which turned out pretty cute. The fondant was not perfect but it helped make the football look real. ;)

We watched the video I had made for Michael, after he had a much needed bath & went to bed.

Thank you for all your sweet comments from Michael's birthday video, it was a lot of work but it was worth it.

Here are the works of my hands for the party... simple decorations, easy table cloth & runner, a (dunce looking) birthday hat, a masterpiece of a cracked fondant football cake & matching shirts for our little family.

1 more day until he's officially ONE!

#1 Michael loves to play with his football & other bouncy balls. He'll crawl around pushing his bouncy ball in front of him just giggling, playing and chasing it. He loves it if we walk with him and have him kick the ball. He'll just laugh and have a good time doing it.

2 days left of babyhood

Peering through the blinds is a new hobby of Michael's. Don't ask me where he learned it. *wink *wink.

3 days until we party!

#3 Michael loves to take bathes. He likes to sit in the tub while it's filling up. He'll even go up to the spout and try to grasp the water coming out. He still thinks he can grab it every time.

5-1= 4 more days

#4 Michael thinks that sitting on Mommy's shoulders is just the best thing. When he is getting lifted up to sit on my shoulders he gets all excited and I can barely separate his legs to fit around my neck. He just laughs and giggles at the thought of having full access to my hair. He also loves the fact that he's up high off the ground.

5 days before the bash

#5 If "I'm so glad when daddy comes home" could be playing right now, it would say it all.

Michael Loves His Daddy!

Especially right when he walks through the door, infact as soon as he hears the key in the door he turns to see if it's him.

6 more days to go

#6 Michael has discovered that rummaging through Mommy's purse can be much more fun than toys. He loves to find her wallet & take out every card & destroy any kind of organization. Mommy knows this is happening when it gets too quiet.

1 week or 7 days or 150 hours until he's 1

#7 Michael loves to eat, there's no doubt about that. Here are some solids he enjoys eating most:

Chicken, peaches, avocado, spaghetti, cheese, bananas, broccoli, yogurt & cereal.

I interrupt the count down for...Yearbook Tag

I was tagged by Danielle a while back and I am now getting to it. I'll admit that I had forgotten about it. It was fun to try this out. Here are a few. I really liked the 70's ones because they remind me of my mom.

If you'd like a good laugh and have 10 minutes go here.

8 days and counting

#8 Michael has a fascination with making noises with his mouth and making faces. For the longest time he'd blow raspberries all day long. It was his motor mouth. He can grunt or growl at anyone or anything. He's established talk with aliens- or so it sounds. He says googilllee googilla, we get a kick out of this. He can say mama, dada, wow, what & he's said "up" once, of course we don't think he really knows what some of them mean yet- just repeating what he hears. He's recently learned to click his tongue using the roof of his mouth. He can also make a fish face. This kid is pure entertainment! Sorry the videos are terrible I was holding the camera to the side of me.

9 days until the big 1

#9 Michael loves to pull up mommy and daddy's shirt to look for their belly buttons & play with their tummies. Sorry no pictures of mommy & daddy's bellies allowed on the blog so Michael's will have to do.

{Scratch that bellie boy!}

Michael's 10 Day Birthday Count Down...

I'll be posting one thing over the next 10 days about Michael to celebrate his 1st birthday.

#10 Michael has become a great sleeper. He did pretty good a few months after he was born but then became off schedule a few months later for sometime. He now sleeps from 7 or 8pm until 7 or 8am. I am loving this!

16 again revealed...

Okay so it didn't get handled today but I decided to post about it anyway. I'll start off with what happened Wednesday...

Joe and I went to the licence office to officially become residents in our new state. We waited about a half hour until we were seen. After we were sent to a second office because the first office's computers were down. I was up first and the woman asked for all my info I brought. She looked at my license and said it's expired and couldn't accept it. I had looked online a year earlier when we'd moved and read that I didn't have to renew my WA license as long as I was a military spouse of an Active duty soldier. I told this to the woman & she said she'd look it up. She proceeded to walk a few feet away and pretend to look at something on the wall or mess with the computer near by. I could see exactly what she was doing and I thought it was obvious that she didn't even read anything! I was stunned at that and was quite upset when she told me that I would need to take the written test and driving test. Ha! No Way! I am 16 again! I was mortified! I decided I'd have to study up a little and come back another time. Joe qualified to get his license even though his old one had expired but because he was the one on active duty and not the dependent he could. So Joe got his picture taken and I did not even though I should have. To prove that I was right I came home and looked it up. Yup I was right! I called another office this morning and talked to a trooper that answered and he explained all I needed, confirming what I knew was right. I went into change it today but I was told that I needed to get my car registered first. To do that I had to get an inspection. I went to go get it done but was unable to due to the fact that Joe just got the windows tinted. They'd have to roll down the windows to test the percentage of the tint & I can't do it for a few more days or I'd ruin the tint. So the plan is next Thursday to actually become a resident! At least I don't have to take the written and driving test!

The last grass

Last Saturday we decided to go ahead and add one more palate of grass to the backyard. I know you all are sick of hearing about our grass but it's just such a huge difference that our yard of dirt and weeds! Joe's friend from work agreed to help out. I was grateful for this so that Joe didn't have to do it all by himself. They took turns throwing the 20lb(?) piece of grass in a wheel barrow & hauled it into the backyard. Here Joe's taking his turn in bringing it to the back. Cody must have loaded that one. I some how manage to not get a single picture of Cody helping, but my eyes are proof. When they were all done Cody went home to clean up and brought his wife, Christina & their two kids back for dinner. We grilled chicken, hamburgers & hot dogs. And feasted on yummy broccoli salad, potato salad, beans & chips. It was fun to sit outside on our porch with friends and enjoy the grass. Not to mention the company. We are terrible about having people over. We're working on that though! This is the only picture I have of our get together because the camera batteries died right after this picture. Cody still didn't get in this shot, only half his body.

Our grass completed- where it looks lighter in color is the newest sod.

Oh and I'll be resolving my 16yr old issue today... it turns out that I was right!!! I'll let you in on it when I get back!

I'll give you a clue: I'm not happy about it one bit!

It's My 105 Post!

When I hit my 100th post I hadn't realized it because we were up to our noses in sod. Well my nose anyway.

To celebrate my 105th post I'm going to do something a little bit different. I've seen this done on a few other blogs as a regular post. I know I'm such a copy cat but copying is the first form of flattery, right? Yes!

I want you to leave me a comment of a memory we have together or even post of a memory on your blog, if you wish. It can be your first memory of us, the only memory of us, or any memory you can come up with. I'm excited to see your point of view of a memory we share together, or not- I may not have even known it existed or have forgotten (please refresh my half broken of a memory).

I'm so excited to see what memories you have of me! Get a jumpin' on the creative train!

I'm moving...my blog

I've decided to change my blog address. I haven't decided what it will be yet but, I'll be sure to let you know after the change has been made. I plan on changing it by Friday evening. I'll email those of you who do not blog. I'll leave a comment on your blog to those of you that blog. For those of you who have a list on your side bar please remember to update my blog address so that others can find me if I miss anyone. Also if you read me in a reader don't forget to update that as well. Sorry that this may come as a pain to some of you but I feel that it is necessary for a number of reasons. Thanks for understanding.

The sod must come to an end

The last of the sod being put down around 2pm Saturday- finally done!
(you can see we still have a few patches of weeds to pull)

Super sod man himself

(he asked me if he looked skinny when I took this, I just had to laugh at him. He's always asking me this now- he's obviously in the middle of loosing some weight).

His weapon of choice: a steak knife

Our sod nearly filled our entire backyard. I think we'll do bark or something like it where the sod didn't reach. We'll want to do a little landscaping back there at some point. I told Joe our birthday presents & Christmas presents should be landscaping(I sound like my mom again, no offense mom:). I think he was shocked to hear that out of my mouth. He wasn't quite as thrilled. He told me he wants Rock Band for his PS3. I guess he didn't want a tree or shrub? Hmm
Michael's wondering why he's not outside while mommy's taking pictures. He wants to be outside everytime we are now. Uh oh what have I done!
Lying sod down wasn't the only thing that happened over the weekend...
Michael discovered he could climb stairs.
