justin's celeb look-alikes

ok, so i laughed out loud when good ol' donny showed up on justin's look-alike collage! so funny! justin was a little disappointed that matthew mcconaughey and matt damon weren't on his list....i told him not to worry, they don't even compare to his stunning good looks or his witty personality! he's my man!!!! i love him so much! by the way, what's with donny's outfit? he looks like a little lady:D

my celeb look-alikes...hmmm?

after seeing this type of post on both my sister's blog and friend, britney's blog, i decided to try it out. so funny! one of the celebs i decided not to include in the list was the imfamous paris hilton....i don't see the resemblance:D. i think sally field is the closest...she looks like my mom too i think...having said that, i don't know anyone more beautiful than my mother! she is the complete package, with the ribbon on top! she is amazing! can you tell that i miss her? everything turns into a conversation or thought about my parents off in the mother land. just for a quick update, they are doing FABULOUSLY! they are loving every minute of it, even when they have to get up at 3am to pick up new missionaries, or when they have to travel four out of seven days a week. they are my heroes! and....i miss them:D

preview...

this is a preview of things to be posted. we took a day trip and this is on the way to big sur! beautiful right! i have lots of pictures to post and hopefully i'll do them soon (have to wait to get the pictures from my mother in-law's camera). also, i have jorgen's first birthday to post! and pictures of him walking! lots and lots more to come....

hair cut!

we finally did it...cut jorgen's hair! it was getting a little too long. once we started getting a few "she is so cute" comments we decided it was time to chop it off. we started to cut it with scissors but that didn't go over too well so i pulled out the clippers and went at it. justin distracted him while i clipped away. not too bad for a first timer (with babies...i'm weathered with cutting justin's hair...though, that doesn't necessarily mean i'm any good at it...lots to improve upon unfortunately ). i miss his long soft hair but i do like the new look. he looks older. he doesn't look like his normal happy self in this picture because he has little itchy pieces of hair all over his face. it was annoying him so badly but tubby time took care of that. we love our little guy! such a cutie!

green mustache

look very closely to jorgen's upper lip and also his tongue. can you see the green? well, today he was begging me to have some of my green drink (spinach, romaine, carrots, and apples all juices to pure yumminess!). i put some in his sippy and he loved it! this is coming from a boy who doesn't like to drink out of a sippy yet...he prefers to play with the sippy instead. not with green drink in it though, he knew right what to do....gulp, gulp, gulp! this kid is going to be a veggieholic just like his mama! he won't be saying, "got milk?"... no, no, no, he'll be saying, "got greens?"

our apartment...

a few have requested, mainly my mom, that i take pictures of our apartment and post them here. there are a few of them, so if you're not interested...stop scrolling down now:D we really are loving it here in palo alto (we're technically located in menlo park though). justin is enjoying researching about corporate governance and he is learning a lot. i am having fun making our apartment 'home'...it's the first time i've been able to actually decorate since we were living in a mostly furnished basement (thanks to the in-laws) for the almost two years we've been married. i also have to throw out a big huge thank you to my parents for selling their big home in the cottonwoods and dispersing their furniture to all the kids. we love what we got and feel blessed that we have had so much help in that department. oh, and another thanks to my older sister, shanda, who has helped with every little question i have as far as where to put what picture and has also donated many items to the hansen-decorating fund. she's the best!

this is what you see when you open our door. we live in a complex of about 70 apartments. there is a pool and it has been fun using that, especially on the hot days.

next we have a view of the kitchen. sorry about the dark photo. i was too lazy to retake it. before we moved in, they remodeled basically our entire apartment (and we got in before they raised the rent ~$200! another blessing). they put new faucets and granite countertops in the kitchen and bathroom. they painted all the doors and cabinets white and repainted the walls. they also recarpeted the entire apartment because they knew a baby would be here. so nice of them!

the next two are of our living room/office. it is a really big living room and we don't have room for an office anywhere so we put all of it in one room. it's not the perfect set up, but it definitely works.

i had to post my most recent project. this is located in the hallway leading to the bedrooms. finally, after almost two years of being married i put my bouquet to use. it was starting to flake off and get in the way so (this is also to the credit of my sister, shanda) i took some of the flowers and put them into three different shadow boxes with three different pictures of justin and me from our wedding. so darling, don't you think! i especially love the first picture you can see. i love my husband! he is the very best husband and best friend. ok, i'll stop, this is about our apartment, not how much i adore and can't get enough of my sweetie! :D

need i say anything? brown and blue...such a good match!

our wonderful room...with justin's most prized possession (out of our furniture, that is)...the king size bed. how did we ever sleep without one? on the other hand, i have no idea why we have a tv in our room, we have never used it. maybe i'll sell it?

jorgen's room. i am still impressed how i threw his room together. who needs new furniture (well, except for the crib...thanks, mom!) when you can paint old furniture that is free and make it look like almost new?

oh, and i almost forgot....the office (with kitchen and living area in view):D and jorgen patiently waiting for me to rescue him from the saucer. i love that boy!

well, there you go. what do you think?

1 of 3 ... the beginning

thanks to my most inspired cousin, whitney, i have the cutest vases ever! i have been patiently awaiting the time when i'd be able to plant something yummy or beautiful and that time has arrived. i have had these vases in storage for the past two years! yes, that's right...two whole years. since we lived in my in-laws' basement i had no patio to place these wondeful vases. now i have a great deck! it's no backyard, but it is perfect for us:D i was blessed today to inherited a free starter tomato plant to get me going. i don't know how my little plant will do in this size of vase but time will tell. any ideas of what i should plant in the other two vases? more veggies or lilies of the nile (my favorite flower here...the smell is absolutely incredible!)? hopefully soon i'll update you with more gardening pictures. i also want to plant an herb garden. fresh basil and dill....who could ask for more?

swimming!

to my dismay, i permanently changed these two photos from color to sepia...i can't go back:( no worries though i guess. they are cute in sepia but i like the color versions as well. either way, we had a lot of fun at our pool on the fourth of july (sorry, it's taking me a long time to post). we love our complex and the people here. it is definitely the melting pot right outside our door...there are numerous indian families (they are so happy all the time and it seems like multiple generations occupy each unit), japanese couples, french couples, a german man, a chinese lady, a few american families, a guatemalan family, an english couple, and many more whom i have yet to meet. isn't that fun! it definitely makes dinner time come alive with all sorts of aromas floating about. the neighborhood is so nice! we boarder a wonderful community that will be so fun to roam around...once i get my busy bottom outside and on walks (too many projects as of late). life is good here! i miss my family and friends but it has been wonderful being just 'us'. i'll post some pictures of our apartment in the next week. it's rather cute! until next time...

family pictures

i have the greatest, not to mention the most good looking, family! wouldn't you agree:D

farewell tutu and grandpa

well, we did it....saw tutu and grandpa for the last time before they left to russia. it was so wonderful seeing the effects serving a mission has already had on them. my parents were glowing! they were so thrilled to be missionaries and it was amazing seeing the spirit and light they emitted. they are going to be the best mission president couple for the russian people. a few tears were shed (mainly on my part) but overall, there was just this excitement for what the future will bring. they are already busy in russia and i am anxiously awaiting to here details about what they are doing.

oh, and while we talked to my parents, jorgen had a blast playing in a box. easily amused....i wonder where he gets that from?

sick baby j

jorgen had the highest fever the week we were moving. unless it's nap time, he isn't much of a snuggly boy. he likes to move and move and move all day long. well, the week he was sick, he just sat and cuddled and was sooo mellow. it was so sad to see him so sick. those little bodies have a hard time fighting the bugs that go around. i'm glad he's only been sick a few times.

ballerina boy

and i'm not talking about jorgen either. while unpacking, justin decided to put on one of my cold weather-running tops...here are the results...crazy boy! he thinks the top is flattering on him. you can make your own decision... :D sure love him!
