Mother's Day Weekend

That's right folks, I got a, "Mother's Day Weekend." The boys went on their first Fathers and Sons campout the Friday before Mother's Day. Two thumbs way up for having all boys!! I couldn't decide who was the most excited: Tim, Kyle or I. We each had our own reasons for being excited.

Tim loaded the boys up and took them to the gas station to pick out a treat. He remembers doing this with Martin Kempton growing up. Kyle picked out a soda, Sweet Tarts and Bugle chips. What a gross combination. Bear helped himself to the same things. I couldn't believe Tim was letting them eat all of that, but I rested well knowing he was going to have to handle their sugar highs and not I.

In my head I envisioned all of the things I could get done while they were gone but in reality I knew I would probably just crash. Candace and I originally planned a Girl's Night to get dinner together but in the end I didn't feel like getting dressed to go out to eat. So she told me to stay in my, "basketball shorts, cute top and dangly earrings," and we ate dinner at her house. I died laughing when she described my outfit. If you know me well you know this is usually what I wear around the house. Curtis laughed at our failed Girl's Night Out but it was still fun for me to spend time with them :).

Tim said all Kyle cared about was getting in the tent. Here they are having fun in the tent together:
Tim actually set up a pack and play in the tent for Bear, but Bear woke up in the middle of the night and joined Tim on the ground. Tim said Bear was breathing on him the rest of the night. He sure does like to cuddle close.

Nice hair!
This boy loves guns:

I was suprised on Saturday morning when I called Tim and they were already on their was back home. I guess since the exciting part (sleeping in the tent) was over, Kyle was ready to go back home. (Getting cacti in his leg the night before didn't help either). I think if there were other boys his age he probably would have lasted longer. Needless to say, my to-do list never got touched.

On Saturday afternoon we went to the baptisms of my nephew Mario and niece Gabby. I am so proud of them for deciding to get baptized. I love my nieces and nephews and am grateful I can live closer to them now and get to know them better. One of my favorite parts of the baptism happened after Gabby got baptized Mo yelled to her, "Good job Gabby!"

And then on actual Mother's Day I enjoyed breakfast in bed (with Nolan requesting every-other-bite), listening to Kyle sing in sacrament meeting and a delicious steak cooked by Tim. Unfortunately I ended the night bawling in bed because I missed my own mother. Thank goodness for Skype and telephone calls!

Love these crazy boys!

It was a great weekend!

A Good Day

Thursday, April 26, was a good day. It had the potential to be really bad (Kyle was getting 4 shots) but he surprised me and did awesome!

I had already gotten the boys ready for Kyle's appointment when it started to rain. Pretty hard too. If you live in AZ you know that the rain can come down like crazy... for about 8 mins and then be done the rest of the day. I decided to go ahead and let the kids get wet before the appointment even though I knew I would have to change their clothes.
Poor Bear didn't have any rain gear. Good thing he lived.
 My little observer.

Kyle is always looking for a reason to bust out the boots and jacket. I don't blame him.
After that we took Kyle to the doctor for his vaccines. He did great and was so funny. He talked so politely and said, "Doctor, I want to know why are the germs bad and the shots good?" He always addressed him as, "Doctor." When the assistant came in to give the shots Kyle said he wanted to see the needles, but she said she couldn't show it to him until she was ready. Since we didn't know how he would react I basically pinned him while she did one in each arm and leg. Instead of crying Kyle did this intense breathing through it and at the end said, "Mama, is that how you do it?" I was so proud! The nurse was in shock too.

To reward his awesome behavior we went to Chick-Fil-A. On the way Kyle exclaimed, "But Mama! She forgot to show me the needles!!" Who wants to see the shots?!
Big Goof:
 Laughing at his brother:

Later that afternoon we had our last swim lesson for Reed and Nolan. It was so fun to do this with Candace and Reed. I loved having an activity that was just for Bear since it feels like we are often doing stuff for Kyle. Bear loved waiting and looking for Reed out the window.

Despite their look of horror, both boys loved the time in the pool. Reed was quite the little fishy! I just love these two boys together.

I love my boys so much and am grateful I get to stay home with them. Some days are most definitely longer than others, but even on the nights I just can't wait for them to get to bed I find myself looking at pictures of them on my phone before I fall asleep. Being a mom is such a blessing!
