Random stories

Kaylise got a baby doll with a bath set and her and Aiden kept pretending to bless the baby. It was cute. Aiden has been having a lot of fun playing golf and bowling with Grandpa Greg on the Wii. He is actually pretty good at it too. He was able to get a strike in bowling and a hole in one in golf. He is kind of funny with the golf game he always chooses to be the "chubby guy or guy with the belly" I guess he was playing with Grandpa one time and it wasn't letting him hit very easy for some reason. The commentator finally said something about how long he was taking and hit the ball already or something and I guess he told Greg, "I'm not playing anymore he's rude."

Tonight Kaylise was funny at bedtime. She came in shortly after I took her to bed. I took her back in and told her she needed to stay in bed and go to sleep to which she responded, "okay, I'll obey the law." I got a chuckle out of that one!!

Bike ride

It was a beautiful day here on Christmas so after naptime we all went outside and put the new pedals, hand grips, and water bottle holders on the kids' bikes. Then we went for a walk around the elementary school. On the way home Tim raced with Aiden to give him motivation to keep going. Well he got close to home and slowed down but Aiden didn't slow down. He went off the curb through our driveway and up the other curb and tipped over into the cactus. I wasn't looking up when it happened I just heard crying and looked and figured he had tipped over. Then I realized that he was on the opposite side of the driveway which meant he was in the cactus. I was about half to three quarters of a block away and I took off running -haha if you can even say that for an eight months along pregnant lady. I was at least moving faster but I'm sure it was entertaining to watch me waddle past the neighbors on the way to Aiden. Poor Aiden was in a bit of pain for a while but he was fairly tuff about it. Our next door neighbor came over with a helmet for him and was talking to him and asked where it hurt. Aiden just responded in a very sad voice, "everywhere." It was pretty much just his hand that got the blunt off the spines and he seemed to recover fairly quickly. He didn't like to be told that he was being brave though. Anytime someone mentioned how brave he was he just said, "no I'm not." He really was pretty good though.

Christmas Morning

The kids actually slept in until about a quarter to eight at which time they just burst into Grandy and Granpa Greg's room and Aiden said, "Greg its light outside." Grandpa just laughed at him and asked where his song was. After visiting with them for a minute he came in and sang to us. Then he went back in and sang to Grandpa to which he responded, "a deals a deal." Aiden was so anxious to go check and see if Santa had eaten his gingerbread houses because they had teased him that Santa might eat it. The kids had a lot of fun opening gifts and looking through their stockings. Kaylise was really cute. She would pull something out and say oh wow a tooth brush, popcorn, etc. until she got to her bag of peanuts. Then she said, "oh wow...what are these?" All in all it was a fun morning. The kids were really excited and had lots of fun and so did the rest of us. Greg was given a Wii and Aiden is the one who handed it to him to open. After Greg opened it Aiden said, "I sure hope you like it." To which Greg responded, "I won't let you down." After opening gifts we started making everything for lunch because our turkey was already done. Dinner was great, thanks to eveyone's help with fixing it and entertaining the kids.

Before Christmas

I think it was the Monday before Christmas we were doing some plumbing and trying to get ready for Grandy and Grandpa Greg to come the next day. We went to harbor freight for a few things and there was a gentleman there with an eye patch that was very friendly. He told the kids he was a pirate! They thought that was pretty fun. As we were getting ready to leave he asked Aiden if Santa was coming to see him and Aiden responded, "No cause Grandy is already coming to visit for Christmas." For some reason he thinks we can only have one visitor at a time. It's kind of interesting to see how his mind works at times. We aslo went to home depot for some parts and the lady that helped us there was talking about leaving cookies out for Santa. Aiden said he didn't have very many and she said he only needed two, one for him and one for Kaylise to leave out. Well Kaylise misunderstood and thought she was meaning that he needed a cookie for her and she was a little upset and said, "No I don't like cookies." She didn't want one. It was kind of funny.

Tire Swing

Last spring a utility truck went by too close to our fence and lost a big tire out of the back and it stayed in the alley until the other day. Tim decided he wanted to use it to make a swing. He bought some rope and with the help of Grandpa Greg they were able to get it up on Christmas eve. It took a lot of work but they figured it out and the kids loved it. He also mad a small round wood swing. He hung one from each of the pecan trees in the back yard.

Christmas Eve

Here are some pictures reading stories with Grandpa Greg and then when we were getting the stockings ready to put out. Before we put the stockings out we read our story about Jesus. Then we asked the kids if they wanted to act out the nativity and be Mary and Joseph or dress up like a shephard or wiseman. Aiden decided he wanted to be a wiseman and Grandy was his camel. He rode to Bethlehem and presented his gift. He said he brought frankensence. We asked about the gold and myrh and he said that he was only one wiseman! Kaylise upon hearing dress up decided she wanted to be a unicorn from Halloween! The hood doesn't fit anymore though she actually looks like she just has angel wings. The kids had fun with it and then they had fun running around in the stockings! Mom and Greg were really nice and took us out to eat at the Olive Garden for dinner. Then we came home and Tim and his mom ran to the store for a couple more things while the rest of us stayed home. While we were waiting for them to get back the kids were playing with Grandpa and Aiden told him that he had a plan. He was going to have scriptures, brush his teeth, prayers, bedtime story, and go to bed. Then he would get up in the morning and wake them up for Christmas. Grandpa told him that if he woke up and it was still dark he better go back to bed and wait until it was light outside to come in and wake him up. They also discussed how he would wake them up and he was going to sing a song.

Gingerbread houses

Here are some pictures of our gingerbread houses we made on Christmas eve. Aiden filled the inside of his with a "group" of gummy bears. The kids had lots of fun and so did the rest of us. Tim decided to decorate himself and Aiden just a tad!

Messy Diaper

It's been a while ago since this happened I just keep forgetting to document it! I thought I could smell something suspicious and asked Kaylise if she was poopy. She responded, "Well...maybe I'm kind of poopy." I got a kick out of it. She is pretty creative with her responses sometimes.

Stories of Jesus

We have been reading the stories of Jesus outlined in the Friend. Tim printed off the sheet with the picture of Jesus in the center and 25 books surrounding it with different stories from the scriptures to read each day. Kaylise and Aiden like to hold the picture while Tim reads the story. One day Kaylise was holding it and she turned the paper over. She looked a little confused and just kept turning it around from front to back. Then she asked me how come Jesus turned his head! Since it was white paper when she would turn it over you could still see all of the images they were just mirrored. She wasn't quite sure how this picture was able to change just by turning the paper over!

Ward Party

We had our ward party this last Saturday. I am still the activities co-chair so it was quite a bit of work getting it all together and ready. It felt a bit chaotic to me but I had several comments on how nice it was so I guess it went okay. As we were cleaning up at the end Aiden was carrying his bag around that he received from Santa and pretending to be Santa. One of the members (judging by Aiden's response becuase I din't actually hear the question) asked Aiden what he had asked Santa for. He responded, "I didn't ask for anything he can just bring me what he wants." I got a chuckle out of his response! I'm glad he is so easy to please.

Names

We have been trying to come up with a name for baby brother since it is getting closer to when we should actually have a decision made. We came up with one that we think might work but are still thinking about it. Anyway I asked the kids what they thought of it and they both said it was okay. However Kaylise still asks if we can call him "baby brother" too! I think it might be hard for her to call him by a name for the first little while he will probably just be baby brother to her!! :)

Kites

It was just right for flying kites yesterday afternoon so we took the kids to the elementary school behind our house. I wish I would have taken my camera because the kids were really fun to watch. They were doing great with their kites. Kaylise thought it was fun to run with her kite to get it flying. It kept falling to the ground but it was just windy enough that half the time she would drag it a little ways and the wind would pick it up again before I could get to her to help toss it in the air again. It was so fun to watch the excitement in their eyes as they ran with their kites and watched them way up in the air. One time Kaylise was really funny. She was running along a slight hill and tripped. She rolled down the hill a little ending up on her back but the kite somehow stayed in the air so she just watched it for a minute while laying on her back until it fell down. Tim and I just laughed. You just had to see it happen!

Breakfast

Yesterday Tim made hashbrowns for breakfast and they came in to see if I would wake up and eat with them. I sat up in bed and was visiting with them for a minute before they all left so I could get dressed. Kaylise was really cute as she climbed down from the bed she said, "we're making...(her feet reached the floor and she looked back up at me) I don't know what I was thinking about. Love you." Then she walked out of the room and down the hall to the kitchen. It made me smile.

Comfy bear and Breakfast

Kaylise was at it again tonight! First she came in and told me that comfy bear (a big stuffed bear) wouldn't close his eyes. I told her that he didn't know how to close his eyes. She replied, "Yes he does know how. He won't close them." So I told her he wasn't going to close his but she could still close hers and she needed to go to bed. The next time she came in and told me "I'm thinking about breakfast and what I want and applesause cause I have applesauce everyday."

Tithing Settlement

We had tithing settlement last week. The Bishop was really good to talk to the kids and help them understand why we were there. He also took the time to listen to their stories about all sorts of things. It was really funny though at one point Kaylise just changes the expression on her face and tells the Bishop, "I'm not happy with my Daddy." We had a good chuckle over that one! She quite often isn't happy with one of us because we said no or she got in trouble for something. It was just funny that it randomly popped out while talking to the Bishop!!

Bedtime

Kaylise has a hard time some nights with actually staying in bed and going to sleep. She is really cute though with her excuses. It just makes Tim and I laugh when she comes in with her random thoughts and stories. Tonight was one of those nights. She came in and I was cleaning up the mess from our snowflake making this evening. She said that she needed to think about something. And she needed to think about something with her kids but her kids weren't thinking about it and they didn't know. It was really funny to listen to her ramble for a few minutes. We did finally convince her to go back to bed though!

Wisemen

We cut out the Wonderful Nativity activity out of the Friend magazine tonight and put it together with the kids. After it was all assembled Tim asked Aiden what he could see. This was his response, "I see baby Jesus, the donkey, the gold and franken men, and the shephards." I liked his "gold and franken men!" I guess he couldn't remember the word wisemen but he knew kind of what they brought. :)

Baby Brother vs. Christmas

The other day we were talking about the different events coming up and the people coming to visit. I said that Grandy and Grandpa Greg would be coming for Christmas and Kaylise got really frustrated. She kept saying no I want Grandma and Grandpa to come, I want baby brother. I don't think she has anything against Grandy and Grandpa Greg but she would rather have baby brother than Christmas!! We went to my friends house today who has a two week old baby girl and Kaylise sat by me holding her for at least ten minutes. I was impressed she held her so long and she just kept coming back to hold her again. I think she will be really cute with baby brother. I'm afraid I may not get as much time to hold him as I want to though because both Aiden and Kaylise now too love to hold babies. I think if we hadn't been with friends Aiden would have held her for a lot longer too. It will be fun for all of us.

I don't know what to do...

It's been a long day. Tim had to finish a paper and I had a few errands to run. I took the kids to home depot to build and then we ventured over to best buy because our new computer has been acting up already. Tim helped me pack a lunch for the kids which they ate while we were waiting for them to figure everything out with our computer. We were there for a really long time but hopefully have a new computer that will work better this time. Anyway Kaylise ended up not getting her usual nap but we took Tim in to give his test and she fell asleep on the way home at 3:30. She was out cold for about half an hour. Well tonight she came in after being in bed for a while and said she didn't know what to do. She said her friend Aiden wouldn't give her a hug or do anything (because he was asleep!) and she didn't know what to do. I kept trying to convince her to go back to bed but she just kepts saying she didn't know what to do. Tim and I were getting quite a kick out of it. I finally held her like a baby and tried to rock her and tell her to close her eyes and she decided she would rather go back to her bed!!

This one's for Dad

The kids sing twinkle twinkle little star in Spanish and I finally got it on video. I'm posting it just for Tim but you can all enjoy it too!

Thank you

I'm so thankful for my family. I came down with the stomach flu friday afternoon/evening and wasn't able to get much energy back on Saturday. Then on Sunday I ended up with two migraines. Tim was such a great help with the kids Friday and Saturday but on Sunday he had to go home teaching and was gone for about four and a half hours (the families he teaches live forty-five minutes away.) The kids were really good to watch movies and play quietly but after a while they really just wanted more attention. They asked if they could call Dad. I said no because he doesn't have a phone but we decided to call Grandma and Grandpa instead. We had to hunt them down but finally got a hold of them. Aiden talked to them telling them that he needed a distraction and attention because Dad was gone and Mom didn't feel good. They talked to each other for a good twenty minutes. It really helped him and me. I'm so greatful for all of them being so good to help me while I wasn't feeling well. I couldn't ask for better family.

Do you See what I see?

I was looking at the tree the other day and saw this sight...

I don't know what you see but I see eyore trying to be rudolph!! The kids decorated well. :)

Pics of Kids

Here are a few pictures I took by the Christmas tree before church yesterday. Kaylise is wearing one of the skirts I made for her.
