Perspective

We had an amazing Family Home Evening last week. Jared told the boys the story of Joseph and we discussed the importance of making good choices so we can live our lives with integrity and then be together forever after this life. Even little Dallin could sense the importance of what was being said and sat quietly for over 30 minutes. I am so grateful for my sweet children and amazing husband. I want nothing more than to be worthy of spending eternity with them.

Porter’s eyes are red because this sweet little boy is a spiritual giant. During our lesson, he tearfully expressed his sincere desire to make it to the Celestial Kingdom together. People are always telling us that Porter is an “old soul” and I would have to agree. He delves into spiritual depths that most adults never reach. His testimony is pure and simple and I see his faith each and every day.

Dallin gave me a hug after our lesson and said, “I love you, Mom.” He could feel the spirit in the room and responded with an outpouring of love for each of us. I am grateful to be his mother and witness his spiritual and physical growth each day. He brings so much joy and laughter to our family. His favorite part of the night? Family Night Fudge. That boy loves fudge.

Sweet baby Hyrum makes certain that you can never have a completely bad day. One smile from our Hy-Hy and suddenly everything is right with the world. When he was blessed, he was given the gift of hope. He absolutely radiates hope. He is such an important and wonderful part of this family.

I love these pictures because they present a different perspective of each of our children and they help give me the right perspective as a mother. This is why I do what I do and I am so thankful to have a husband who works hard so I can be with them. Thank you for the amazing pictures Sweetheart and for being the best husband and father in the whole world. I love you.

Cliffhangers

How do you like your books? Succinct and self-contained, or so completely open-ended that you could drive a freight train through the last three pages? While I love reading a good series, I really despise authors who end each installment with a cliffhanger. I know it’s to keep you interested, but I only feel dissatisfied when six hours and four hundred pages later, I still have no idea how the story will end. Sigh . . .

With that said, I loved this book. Catching Fire, the second in the Hunger Games series, was just as good, if not a wee bit better than it’s predecessor. I’m not great at writing book reviews, so I won’t even attempt to explain the premise of the series (lots of people die) or the characters (can you say “love triangle”) or even the author’s writing style (faster moving than the freight train through the ending). I’ll just recommend that you read both books in the series, then wait with bated breath for the next.
