Brownsover Hall Hotel is a grade II listed Victorian Gothic mansion nestled in several acres of woodland and alongside a canal. A little gem just outside of Rugby and minutes from the M6.
After a long, traffic filled, drive from London the garden and towers of Brownsover Hall Hotel were extremely welcoming. On stepping inside the imposing interior design is in keeping with the architecture – dark wood, sweeping staircases and chandeliers a plenty.
It isn’t the start of a weekend away for the Mr and I if we don’t get afternoon tea so we were straight to the bar to sample the menu!
The afternoon tea did not disappoint. A row of sandwiches were brought out on slate; ham and mustard, salmon and tuna. Enjoyed alongside a pot of tea and a glass of pink prosecco. The cake stand was filled with delights including miniature bakewell tarts and chocolate éclairs as well as a generous slice of Victoria Sponge and a Scone with clotted cream and jam. It was delicious and enjoyed in the empty bar area.
We spent three nights in the Hotel and had a wonderful time. The staff were attentive and friendly. We only had breakfast in the restaurant one of the mornings (it wasn’t included) and if I am honest, for £12.95 each, it could have been better. We ate dinner in the Hotel on our final night and again it was very tasty, the staff were extremely attentive and the service was wonderful.
The grounds are beautiful and we were fortunate enough to have a sunny weekend to enjoy a weekend walk along the canal.
I would stay here again in a heart beat and would definitely go back for the afternoon tea!
