This morning my husband called me to say, “Everything is going through,” that means, our house is sold!! The relief that we won’t have to pay a mortgage payment and a rent payment in a couple days is still settling in…
Having a mother that is alive is such a gift. 🎁 My Mom has struggled with depression and over the last month has come out of a recent dark season–thanks to God, my aunt, medicine, and counseling. I’m thankful I could hang out with her yesterday and celebrate motherhood with her!
This week during my spring break I have been able to turn our house into more of our home. My husband stayed home on Monday, and we were able to put more pictures on the wall!
Crafting pie crust scares some people, and I can see why: If it fails, you have a crumbly mess on your hands. I’ve only made lard pie crust a couple of times, and the other dozens of times, I’ve used an easy, almost fail-safe recipe from my Grandma Jane.
Grandma Jane would make mincemeat pies and tarts (Bambury tarts) at Christmas time. She taught my Mom how to make this recipe, and my Mom taught me. Someday I hope to teach my future daughter how to make this recipe. For now, I can teach you!

I finally ran the 3.5 miles from my apartment to Stephen’s place, and I stopped and shot a few photos along the way. The sun slanted its ray across my path at points, many people were outside–mowing or just enjoying being outside after many frozen days. The apple blossoms made me so happy with their snowy grace and lingering scent. Come, run along with me:
On Tuesday, a fluffy, almost magical snow fell here; it reminded me of the snow that’s falling when C.S. Lewis has the four children arrive in Narnia in his book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I liked the gently falling flakes so much that I tromped a half of a mile to the library. The snow made me so happy I just had to make a heart in it!
I hope you get to experience a Narnia snow sometimes!
Need a boost? The card on my fridge that says, “You are exactly where you should be, doing exactly what you should be doing.” (From Trader Joe’s Cards), brings relaxation to my mind every time I scan it as I cook or just pass by. Think about it: Those words embrace you where you are at and validate you. Receive the grace in those words!
Here’s another card that releases and pushes you in a freeing way:
