Buttery Dutch Apple Pie ðŸ¥§

Things are changing around here…we finally sold our house in Illinois, so that means we can return our borrowed couch to Stephen’s cousin and bring the rest of our furniture back to our apartment! To thank said cousin for letting us use his couch, I whipped up an apple pie for him (and one for us.)

With life whizzing past, it helps to just sit down with a piece of pie and savor the spicy apple-ness. Pie helps transitions become sweeter. Apple pie just brings comfort. Enjoy! Continue reading

Happy All Saints Day!

Big Kids Do It Too

20141029-070102-25262158.jpg
The toddler kept dropping leaf by leaf over the cement wall into the pond–ginkgo yellow on the gray water.

Minutes later high school boys in PE garb goofing off threw up an armful of brown oak leaves which cascaded gently around them as they laughed.

You Are Loved

The leaf, crafted with intention, landed there by the lake for me to ponder and remember: I am loved!

What does love look like?
Love shows up through the twinkle in the eyes a person when you walk into the room.
Love comes through the shape of a hug, a creamy rose, a heart, a crunchy leaf…

Look at the intricate beauty of a cottonwood leaf fallen to the stones, and see the creative message just for you: You are loved!

Autumn, with Attitude

20141001-170358-61438460.jpg

Cottonwood trees crackle and infuse dusty leafiness into the air as you run past.
Prairie grassland pop with purple asters and goldenrod, next to the dancing lake.
Autumn north winds whisk the water into liquid bouncing gray-greenness.

Waves topped with diamonds splashing off the peak and fall down to do it again.

City autumn has the same reds and golds as other places, but has attitude.
