The Fahrenheit is less the point
Than that I’m feeling out of joint
Because I’ve left my comfort zone.
This gripe applies to me alone
And won’t, I hope, provoke a curse
From those who know they’ve got it worse.
With mad respect for misery
In others, I’m bemoaning me.

Shape Shifting
Moving things from place to place
Sounds kind of boring on its face,
But when those things are spherical,
It’s interesting. Empirical
Support for this thesis is found
In sports reports: Most balls are round
(Or roundish). Q.E.D. Absorb
This fact relaxing: Shift an orb.

But I don’t
Have anything worth saying
So I won’t
We’re Too Friendly
WTF is an impure
Initialism often meant to serve
As camouflage for those too shy, demure,
Or circumspect to curse; who lack the nerve
Or sheer effrontery they’d need to drop
A presidential F-bomb in a room
Of unsuspecting listeners; or who stop
Abruptly just before their words go boom.
Whoa, That’s Freaky doesn’t wield the weight
Of what was really whispered through the sieve
(Though it’s not wrong), but wouldn’t it be great
If we could read it: Willing To Forgive?
I wish the Fates had granted us the luck
To not be always thinking, What The Fuck?

Giant House Spiders
Are patient bug-biters.
They’re crafty and quick:
Though their web doesn’t stick
Or adhere to its prey,
It still can’t fly away,
Crawl, or otherwise leave
Through the hole in the weave
Funnel spiders are named for;
Too slow ‘s what they’re* blamed for.
*The prey, not the predator.**

Summer Blockbuster
We celebrate the longest day
By sending bombers far away
To stir a pot not worth the heat,
Confronting foes we needn’t meet,
Because a chump who thinks he’s strong
Confuses might with right.
He’s wrong.
