With world leaders meeting at the 79th World Health Assembly, we have the opportunity to build on last year’s Lung Health Resolution, to take local action and change the trajectory of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). As the 3rd leading cause of death globally (excluding COVID-19), COPD costs millions of lives, strains health systems, and burdens economies worldwide. It needs prioritisation. We're calling on policymakers around the world to implement funded national plans to meet this growing burden. Behind the statistics are people – living with lung disease in communities where air pollution, socio-economic factors and limited access to care make good outcomes less likely. At #WHA79, we’re advocating for equitable lung health – using a data-driven approach to identify underserved communities and target earlier detection and quality care where it’s needed most. Swipe to learn why it matters. 👉

Chronic respiratory and immune‑mediated diseases affect around 500 million people worldwide yet too often care remains reactive, addressing symptoms rather than the underlying biology. As the American Thoracic Society Conference begins, we’re contributing science and perspectives that drive a shift to more proactive "health care". With approaches spanning inhaled therapies to next-generation biologics, we're committed reimagining how disease may be better understood, anticipated and managed over time. What does it take to turn global health commitments into real-world impact for patients? As world health leaders gather for the World Health Assembly, this is the challenge we’re focused on - translating last year’s resolutions on lung health, chronic kidney disease and rare diseases into action at a country level. Change at scale requires concerted national action and partnership. The opportunity is there. The cost of delay is rising. By collaborating and mobilising health investments today, we can shift from managing rising disease burden to preventing it - building a more resilient, equitable and sustainable future. #WHA79

Hypertension affects an estimated 1.4 billion people worldwide and is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease. This World Hypertension Day, we recognize those who struggle to control their blood pressure, despite multiple treatments and lifestyle modifications. Deborah, living with uncontrolled hypertension, navigates frequent monitoring, ongoing management regimens and the strain of persistent high blood pressure reading. Learn more about hypertension and how we’re advancing science and clinical research to support better outcomes for patients: https://lnkd.in/eUPK4Gy9 #WorldHypertensionDay

Obesity was long viewed through the singular lens of body size. But that view is evolving – with important implications for how obesity is understood, diagnosed and treated. Transthyretin-mediated amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is an underrecognised cause of heart failure (HF). If left untreated, ATTR-CM can lead to health complications, making early detection critical to improving health outcomes. Through novel artificial intelligence-enabled diagnostics, we are revealing the red flags that raise suspicion of ATTR-CM in patients sooner. Learn more about how we’re aligning evidence, technology, and clinical pathways to enable proactive patient identification and intervention: https://lnkd.in/ei5RAnTk #HeartFailure26

World Lupus Day reminds us that scientific innovation is best when it is grounded in insights from those who are closest to the disease. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) affects millions worldwide, causing sometimes invisible, yet debilitating symptoms that can take years to diagnose. At AstraZeneca, we're committed to supporting the lupus community through collaboration, clinical trials, and a relentless focus on better outcomes. The SLE Patient Charter, supported by AstraZeneca and co-developed with experts and advocates, calls on all of us to strive for faster diagnosis, optimised care, and coordinated teams that work with patients. Cancer awareness is most powerful when it moves from conversation to action, and that’s exactly what we’re doing through Get Body Checked Against Cancer. Through our partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL) and NHLPA's Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, we brought this campaign to life through community-based events with free cancer screenings and gamified health education designed to meet people where they are, literally and figuratively. Thank you to the Dallas Stars and their partner Baylor Scott & White Health, as well as Pittsburgh Penguins and their partner UPMC. This work reflects our core belief that science, partnership, and community connection can change lives. Learn more and find out how to get body checked at www.getbodychecked.com. #GetBodyChecked #HockeyFightsCancer
