Celebrating International Cocktail Day a little differently this year 🍹 Today at work, we swapped the usual drinks for some great mocktails and a chance to take a break together as a team. It’s always nice to have small moments during the workday that bring people together, spark conversations, and add a bit of fun to the office. ✨ Thanks to Koba #InternationalCocktailDay #WorkCulture #TeamMoments #Mocktails #OfficeLife

  • Happy 4 year work anniversary to Liam Potter 🎉 Liam heads up our construction team and somehow still finds the time to be the go-to IT guy for the whole business too! His hard work, knowledge, and willingness to help never go unnoticed. No matter the challenge, Liam is always there to support the team with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. Over the last four years, Liam has become such an important part of the business, not only through his dedication and leadership, but also through the way he helps everyone around him. We’re incredibly grateful for everything he does and look forward to many more years working together. Thank you for all your hard work, Liam, and congratulations on 4 amazing years! 👏

🚀 Sometimes, even the best weeks hit a wall. I recently had a client who was game for me to support on a role. Over the past week, we managed to: > Secure 6+ interviews for one role. > Tackle a tough, “needle-in-a-haystack” position and get them 2 interviews with strong market insights. > The hiring manager was excited, the internal portal was humming, and things were moving really well, maybe too well. Then, out of nowhere, HR sends an email: everything’s on hold. No reason, no timeline. Just… pause. After 5 days of solid, strategic work, it’s a tough pill to swallow. Question for my LinkedIn network: How do you reset after a week like this? How do you get yourself back in the zone when a project stalls unexpectedly? Would love to hear your strategies for staying resilient and keeping momentum in sales and recruiting. #RecruitmentLife #Sales #Resilience #ClientWork #MarketInsight

"Culture fit." It's one of the most common reason for passing on a candidate. It's also almost never defined before the search starts. Here's what usually happens. A hiring manager briefs on a role - technical skills, years of experience, certifications, industry background. All concrete, and all really useful. Then a strong candidate gets to final stage and doesn't get an offer. The feedback comes back: great technically, just not quite the right culture fit. Push on what that actually means, and you always should, and the answers vary a lot! Sometimes it's communication style. Sometimes it's pace. Sometimes it's how someone would handle a difficult client. All legitimate things, but none of them were explained at the start of the process. The problem isn't that culture matters. It does, massively. The problem is it shows up at the end of the process, not the beginning. If "culture fit" means something specific to your organisation - how consultants/leaders handle pressure, how they operate on projects, how they communicate with difficult stakeholders, we should talk more upfront. It makes the search sharper, better candidates, less wasted time, fewer good people ruled out for reasons nobody can properly articulate. This post isn't about any recent examples, just a thought that if we all dig into culture fit a bit more, rather than the experience/qualifications we'll get better results. The best hiring managers define culture before they define the job spec. #recruitment #hiring #netsuite #erp Elsdon Group
