The hair-loss industry has a transparency problem. For decades, the market has been flooded with "miracle" products, unproven red lights, and aggressive marketing making unfounded claims. When I founded niostem, based on research I did at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, I decided I would not play that game. I believe that when it comes to regenerative medicine, you cannot substitute peer-reviewed science with good marketing. That is why we took the hardest, most expensive route possible for a startup: A randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial. Today, I am incredibly proud to announce that our 24-week study on 81 men with Androgenetic Alopecia has been published in Dermatology and Therapy (Springer Nature). The clinical data over 6 months showed: 🔵 +24.40 hairs/cm² increase in total hair density compared to the sham. 🔵 +17.06 hairs/cm² increase in terminal (thicker) hair density. 🔵 A significant +26.24 percentage point difference in cumulative hair thickness. 💙 Zero serious adverse events. We are here to unlock the body’s regenerative potential, and we now have the gold-standard clinical proof that our Stem Cell Reactivation Technology works. I’ve linked the independent coverage by Dermatology Times and the PubMed article in the comments below. I’d love to hear from other health-tech founders: why do you think so few consumer wellness brands invest in double-blind RCTs? None of this would have been possible without the relentless dedication of the niostem team through the years Christophe Ramstein, Gleb Pogorelov, Emil Aliev, Muhammad Jahanzeb Tariq, Adeel Arshad, Timothy Perchey, Mohammad Talha Nahid, and all former team members. A special thank you to our big supporters at Entrepreneurs First, BVP (Brightlands Venture Partners), Luc Starmans, Marcel Kloosterman, Gerhard Schaller, Robby Schwertner [CryptoRobby]🦋, Gerald Neumair, Gerald Steger, Wolfgang Schreiber, Axel Nemetz, August Macke, Sebastian Garcia Dennemark, Nils Sonnenfroh for backing a science-first approach, and to the incredible team at Dermatest GmbH, including Tanja Emmler and Werner Voss, for their rigorous independent clinical execution. #HealthTech #RegenerativeMedicine #StemCells #Alopecia #niostem

  • Scope AI has raised $20M led by Index Ventures to build the future of inspection. Inspection is the most common way physical data is collected, underpinning the integrity, operation, and safety of every industry. Yet the software these inspections run on hasn’t changed in 20 years. Founded by Jonathan Low and Jakob Cassiman, Scope is building the AI-native paradigm for the 10x inspection engineer to speed up industrial inspection workflows, from reporting to asset integrity. Proud to back Jonathan and Jakob from day zero at EF.

Very few people have seen my childhood magic tricks. Here they are. We found old clips of me doing judo, making random videos, and taking card tricks much more seriously than anyone should. We’re looking for people who have been making things for years, probably before anyone cared: holiday edits, Fortnite montages, vlogs... Not because it was a content strategy, but because they were obsessed with the craft. We’re building a small Storytelling & Content team to document ambitious founders building from scratch, and I’m hiring two people: - one creator in London - one creator for The Bridge in San Francisco If you’ve always been the person filming, editing, posting, experimenting, and making things on the internet, let's chat.

  • Our portfolio company Jack & Jill, founded by Matthew & Saaras, just placed the CTO of one of our London portfolio companies. We have partnered with them on building unicorn cofounding teams from scratch. Jack & Jill is at the heart of supporting the flywheel London's startup ecosystem needs. To paraphrase the founder and one of our most successful EF alumni, Matthew: "More great talent in great roles → more product value → more growth → more capital to hire more great talent into startups." That loop requires matching brilliant talent to the best startup opportunities. Want access to upcoming EF opportunities? To be in the talent loop? Talk to Jack. He's free, takes 10 minutes and we will directly reach out with opportunities to join our in-house EF team and/or for roles across our portfolio of companies. Link in the comments.

We’re looking for a killer Content Creator to document The Bridge in SF. In April, you would have shared: - Everett "Ev" Randle @ Benchmark, and Niko Bonatsos @ Verdict Capital (early investors in Gumloop, Ramp, Discord and Mercer) giving firesides in the living room 🔥 - Nicolas M. @ Arago talking about photonic chips ⚡️ - Founders building everything from zero-prompt AI and robots for dogs, to AR glasses for mechanics and humans-on-chips 🛠️ - Chef Jac preparing 5* meals day after day ❤️ - Suited-up humanoid robots in the house 👔 - Sam Altman signing a picture of himself as the Mona Lisa 🖼 May is just getting started. Your job is to make sure The Bridge gets in front of the right people across the world.

I’m getting lots of people asking me what sorts of companies we want to invest in via our program for repeat founders (XF) at Entrepreneurs First Some of the conversations I've had in the past week: 🤖 A demo of a robot that would still be able to walk out of the ring after a round in Robot Wars 🪱 Exploring what worms can teach us about AI and continuous learning  😇 How to make AI therapy more effective through multi player mode  💉 What would be needed to allow precision medicine to actually reach n=1 🕶️ The potential infrastructure needs for a world of physical AI experiences  💾 What the operating system for AI native companies will look like 🇺🇸 Many conversations about accessing US markets and funding What marked these conversations out for me was not necessarily the ideas themselves, but the ambition and drive behind them. And the scar tissue to know what it will take. If you’re thinking about, or know someone thinking about, similarly ambitious ideas for their next venture, I’d love to chat. cc. Kit Logan

Big news for LightHearted AI Thank you Lucy Davidson for creating this cool video for internal team celebration :) Before we started fundraising, one late night, Céline van Haaren, our ops associate and I were preparing our investor target hit list and we came across the website of Draper Associates. We immediately resonated with their thesis of betting in science fiction ideas that seemed too far fetched to become reality. Serendipitously, their team reached out to us just a couple of days later to ask for a call. Which led to a second call. At this point, we were sure there was strong alignment and leaned in. So we decided to be creative. We noticed Tim Draper himself was attending a conference so we applied to attend too. After his talk, we went to pitch to him, ensuring we communicated clearly and concisely. This is something we do consistently, focusing into finding investors that we believe are most aligned with us. We are now proud to announce we are backed by a firm with over 40 years of experience.

Blood pressure without white coat syndrome. Heart sounds without gender bias. Cardiovascular insights without physical contact. That’s the future we’re building at LightHearted AI! We built a new sensory system for the human body. A silicon + photonics platform that captures cardiovascular signals from meters away at unprecedented resolution — decoding them in real time with AI, including blood pressure and ECG, without contact. Developed by a team of photonics PhDs, AI/ML and clinical experts, the technology traces back to high-performance sensing work originally funded for advanced applications, now repurposed to reinvent how we measure the human body. Starting with heart valve disease diagnostics, we are on a mission to help prevent 10 million heart-related deaths by 2030 while helping close longstanding diagnostic gaps in cardiology. We are very excited to share we are backed by Draper Associates!

Excited to announce we're backing LightHearted AI! They measure health insights using light and decode them with AI. We are thrilled about the prospect of helping them scale into a fifth vital sign, closing the gender diagnostic gap in cardiology, and addressing an initial wedge in heart valve disease. They're on a mission to prevent 10 million heart-related deaths by 2030 and reinvent cardiac diagnostics.
