  • What makes a creative brief useful? The clarity it creates.   Grayling’s Maury Postal joined Karen Doak on Okay, Actually to talk about why briefs are an essential part of the strategic process, what happens when documentation replaces direction and how alignment gives teams the confidence to make better decisions.   Listen to the episode, The Brief Is the Work, below.    https://lnkd.in/eMfk_uX2

If you’ve got half an hour to spare on your next walk, drive or, hopefully, air-conditioned evening, here’s an idea that’s been on my mind for years: Every project starts with a brief. Very few start with *alignment*. Karen Doak invited me onto "Okay, Actually" to talk about why those aren’t the same thing, why so many briefs become documentation instead of direction and how a good brief gives people the confidence to make better decisions. Karen has been a colleague, client and friend over the years, which made this conversation especially fun. Thanks for having me! As one of Fortune's most-read writers, Orianna Rosa Royle has spent years interviewing some of the world's most successful CEOs, founders and entrepreneurs.   In the latest episode of the Grayling Media Podcast, our UK CEO goes behind closed doors to discuss:   • What separates great leaders from the rest. • The realities of success that rarely make the headlines. • Why businesses can't afford to stop investing in junior talent in the age of AI. • What Orianna actually believes is the biggest communication mistake leaders continue to make.   This isn't just a conversation about successful CEOs. It's about the habits, decisions and communication that define successful leadership.   The full episode is available now on all podcasting platforms. • We're proud to be shortlisted alongside CDR (Citigate Dewe Rogerson) at the PRWeek UK Awards for our One Million More campaign with My Pension Expert in the Financial Services category.   One Million More set out to change the conversation around pensions for a generation too often overlooked by traditional financial communications. Tapping into life milestone of turning 50 with actress Emilia Fox, the campaign helped make pensions relevant, accessible and part of the national conversation, while encouraging more people to seek advice and take action.   Congratulations to everyone involved, and look forward to the awards ceremony in October!

  • What a lovely evening at our Grayling Social summer networking event at the stunning Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries, Westminster Abbey.   It was great to welcome so many familiar faces, and new ones, from across our political, business, and media network for relaxed conversation, good company, and summer drinks.   A huge thank you to Sam Coates of Sky News, our special guest speaker on the night, for joining us.   And thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a memorable evening.

Construction is disruptive. There isn't much getting around that. But there is a big difference between a project that simply tells people what's happening, and one that takes the time to explain, listen and respond. In my experience, that's what people remember long after the HGVs have gone. I wrote this piece for Construction News on why good community relations isn't a nice-to-have. It's part of delivering successful projects. I also share a few practical ways contractors can build trust from day one. Thanks to Construction News for publishing it. Have a read below.
