Meadow Partners is delighted to have secured planning approval from Westminster City Council for the redevelopment of 10-20 Victoria Street, transforming the site in the heart of London into a new £600 million sustainable office and mixed-use space.   Designed by architects Piercy&Company with planning consultancy support from Montagu Evans, the redevelopment will deliver sustainable workplaces and approximately 1,500 jobs, bringing new businesses and investment to this prominent Westminster location.    “10-20 Victoria Street, located along a heavily trafficked and prestigious location in London, is one of the last major blocks to be redeveloped in Victoria, a rapidly improving office submarket in London,” said Andrew McDaniel, Founding Partner at Meadow Partners. “We are pleased to receive the approval, which gives us the opportunity to move forward with a scheme that reflects our approach of identifying sites with strong fundamentals, investing with conviction and creating assets that can perform over the long term.”   View the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/gjn-Cq9R   #RealEstate #Investing #LondonOffice

Have you ever found yourself in a restaurant struggling to hear the person sitting opposite you? Poor acoustics and excessive noise affect all of us, often turning simple conversations into a challenge. For the estimated 60% of adults living with some form of hearing sensitivity, including hearing loss or tinnitus, these environments can be even more difficult to navigate. Our acoustics experts are using Sownd certification to change this by using it to ensure a more inclusive approach to the way buildings and spaces are designed and operated. By recognising and rewarding good acoustic design, it encourages environments where everyone can communicate comfortably and confidently. Watch the video below to learn why Barry Jobling and Kial Jackson use acoustic certification to prove how better acoustics can help create more inclusive spaces for all.

Sound shapes how we concentrate and feel at ease, and it lands differently for each of us, from those with hearing loss to neurodivergent people navigating a noisy world. In the latest #SowndCertified Pioneer Series film with engineering consultancy Hoare Lea, Barry Jobling and Kial Jackson share why the certification is changing how acoustic performance gets measured, and valued, in building design. As Kial puts it, the certification is “a really valuable tool to make sure the built environment reflects the needs of people as they are.” #AudioInclusive #AcousticDesign #BuiltEnvironment #InclusiveDesign

Imagine telling the creators of Nineties ladette culture and the architects of the all-night rave that they’ll have to be content with a cross-stitch and a quiz show. Traditional retirement living is not for everyone, especially a generation accustomed to shaping its own future. The one-size-fits-all model needs shaking up to fit the needs of those who are about to retire. Gen X built portfolio careers, social media and streaming TV, café culture on the local high street. This is a generation that has made their surroundings suit them; that knows what it wants and has strived hard to get it. As it happens, a growing movement is now reimagining later life through innovative community-led cohousing that fosters independence, belonging and companionship. Explore the flourishing world of cohousing for older folk here: https://lnkd.in/gDpkZbhG Thanks in particular to Terry Unitt Retirement Villages Group Ltd Greg Jones Sebastian Clarke for their input.

Our Lottie Davis, graduate mechanical engineer, has been shortlisted for Undergraduate of the Year by CIBSE's Young Engineers Awards which spotlights the brightest young minds in building services. Lottie was recognised for her final-year dissertation project. For this, she used computational fluid dynamics (software that simulates fluid movements) to investigate the readiness of UK housing stock for low-temperature heating systems such as heat pumps. Congrats to the class of 2026, and good luck tonight, Lottie! https://lnkd.in/e_-4yeRt

  • Award win for Botanical Place! The UK’s first whole-life net zero carbon retirement community, Botanical Place in West Byfleet, has won two awards at the 2026 British Homes Awards. We’re proud to have worked alongside the wider project team to help bring the development to life and contribute to its low-carbon ambitions. The project won the Later Living/Supported Living Design of the Year award, with the judges commenting that it was “a transformative model for later living that places older people at the heart of community life. Through exemplary sustainability, placemaking and intergenerational integration, it establishes a compelling benchmark for the future of the sector.” It also won Best Public Realm and Placemaking, with the judges saying that it “intelligently addresses multiple societal challenges through design. Rather than isolating later-living accommodation, the scheme successfully integrates older residents into the heart of an active town centre, creating meaningful relationships between housing, civic uses, public realm and biodiversity.” Congratulations to everyone involved, including Retirement Villages Group Ltd, Higgins Partnerships, PRP and Mason Navarro Pledge Ltd, as well as the many others who contributed to the success of the scheme. • Last month, the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) launched a series of Stakeholder Action Plans, building on the UK Climate Resilience Roadmap and setting out tailored actions for eight key stakeholder groups across the built environment. As a Programme Partner, we’re pleased to have supported the development of these plans and collaborated with industry peers to enable climate resilience ambition to turn into practical action. The plans provide a clear starting point for organisations to understand their role, prioritise action and work collaboratively to strengthen resilience across the sector.
