I’m still buzzing from Monday night’s celebration of HubDot’s 14th birthday! Looking around a packed Riding House Café, I was struck by a powerful hidden pattern: Authority without Armour. True authority doesn’t come from a title or a polished facade. It comes from the courage to be seen, the willingness to listen deeply, and the "humanity in action" that I witnessed in every corner of the room. Over 14years, from the early days in a house, to the digital pivot during COVID, and now to this beautiful, multi-generational mix of faces Hubdot has proven that when you strip away the armour, you create a unique space for real community to thrive. The highlights that stayed with me: The Power of Story: Hearing Adam White (founder of Riding House Café) remind us that the journey is just as vital as the success. Authentic Connection: Meeting Rashique Siddique of How Matcha who’s amazing Matcha Bar is not just an ordinary Matcha bar but a place of support and community., and feeling the infectious energy from Oonagh O'Sullivan BDS MBA BMedSci (Hons). Deep Listening: Seeing first-timers and returning faces alike stepping into the same space with nothing but openness and curiosity. This is where the magic happens. Not in the "performance" of leadership, but in the simple act of choosing to start a conversation, being willing to connect, and building community with one another. We wanted joy for our Piazza… the joy of being human, together...and Monday was more than we could have ever hoped for! More than a celebration of 14 years of HubDot ...it was a powerful reminder of what it truly means to be human, together. We witnessed something we have always believed to be true… that when we move beyond labels and meet through our stories, something shifts. Conversations deepen, perspectives expand, and real #human #connection begins to create meaning and momentum. From men supporting men, to the healing power of a story, to the future of work being human, every voice on that stage brought to life the essence of what we have been building all these years. HubDot has never been just about events. It is our formula for #building #communities, a way of activating culture and creating the conditions for connection to happen naturally across organisations, education and society. What we experienced on Monday was a joyful expression of that… and a glimpse of the ripple effect already in motion. To our global community, our storytellers, our clients, our champions, and every single one of you who has shaped this journey over the past 14 years… thank you. There are moments when you don’t just attend an event… you feel something shift. Monday was one of those moments. What Simona Barbieri describes so beautifully is exactly what unfolded in the room: a space where being human wasn’t an idea, but a lived experience. Where stories didn’t just get shared, they created connection, perspective, and something quietly transformative. What continues to inspire me about HubDot is that it goes far beyond the moment itself. It creates a ripple. A ripple that moves from individuals… into relationships… into organisations… and, ultimately, into culture. “Being Human, Together” is not just a message. It’s a practice. Still buzzing from Monday’s HubDot event, Being Human Together’. Over 300 gathered with open minds and hearts, selected a dot to signal their connection intention. 🟢 I’m here to be inspired 🔴 I want to share knowledge and skills 🟣 I want to share my story 🔵 I want to make new connections 🟡 I need help with an idea or project Old connections rekindled and new ones made. When an event isn’t organized around social labels and work titles people relax into something more honest and energising - an authentic human connection that creates meaning and momentum. At Hub Dot they call this alchemy. That evening, I returned to tell what happened to a stubborn seed of an idea. Ten years ago, I stood on a Hub Dot stage wearing my favourite hot-pink scarf (yes, this one), and shared something that felt rebellious. That it was time to stop calling people “human resources”…
and start putting the human before the resource in business. Back then, it was just a stubborn idea. But working in luxury hospitality, opening hotels, building teams I saw something: Magic happens when people feel seen and valued —
and it disappears when they’re treated like replaceable parts.
 So I followed that idea… and it became a book, ‘Help Wanted’ - the rule-breaking guide to hiring #HumanMagic. Today, I help leaders build extraordinary teams and cultures where people feel proud to belong; where hiring is done with hospitality, connection and presence. Because when we put the human first… that’s when the human magic we are all searching for finally has somewhere to call home.
