A fascinating Panel last week at MPTS with Helen Walker, Kay Page chairing and fellow panellists, Helen Edmunds, Brian Leonard and Chris Fossey. The discussion was around best practice in managing archives and how to keep them alive, thriving and generating revenue. A few key points came out: - Digital storage does not equal preservation - Digital preservation is a dynamic, ongoing process (the risks of digital decay are very real!) that should be a point of governance and policy for organisations - Good metadata is fundamental to a healthy, usable archive If you'd like to learn more on our digital preservation project, digitising thousands of news reels in bureaus around the world, discover more: https://lnkd.in/eVGBVdJ8 #Digitisation #Archives #DigitalArchives #Obsolescence #Footage #TVProduction
