EHAAT provides a vital emergency service across Essex and Hertfordshire, delivering advanced pre-hospital care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Events such as this help raise funds to support the charity's life-saving work and ensure its crews can continue responding when they are needed most. Today, we welcomed Nat Hawley, neurodivergent consultant, TEDx speaker and founder of Divergent Thinking, to deliver a neurodiversity awareness session for colleagues across the firm. The interactive session explored neurodivergent profiles, including spiky profiles, masking and undiagnosed neurodivergence, while helping to build understanding, confidence and practical ways to support one another in the workplace. This is the first in a series of neuroinclusion training sessions taking place this year as part of our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive workplace for both our people and our clients. Nikki Petken, Partner in the Corporate & Commercial team, discusses unexpected risks from AI being used in commercial transactions, in The Law Society Gazette today. As this technology becomes increasingly embedded in business and legal processes, Nikki highlights that while AI can enhance efficiency, it also poses new legal, regulatory and commercial risks that are frequently underestimated. Nikki explains that AI should be treated as a support tool by businesses, not as a substitute for legal advice, with appropriate human oversight, clear policies and controls in place. Companies that opt for a structured and cautious approach will reap the most benefits from AI. The Government's consultation on cohabitation reform, which closed on 14 August 2026, has prompted renewed discussion about the legal rights of couples who live together without marrying.
