It wasn’t the first time that I had explored China, considering that I had been playing second life for awhile. This time though, I found myself surprised that it wasn’t nearly as populated as I remembered, though when I used to more actively take place in the second life community it was in the later hours of the day and in the more early hours of the morning in most other countries.

I went to several locals but the most attractive one was the in-construction Legend of China–Fantasy China ( http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Liberia%20Isle/128/128/40 ).  Image

Once again though, no one was here. Perhaps it was because I was interacting more towards the afternoon in the United States, and that’s closer to deep night in China.

As you can see this location is extremely beautiful but within that beauty is lots of places where you can buy things. For example, the picture that is within the above image, you can click on it and spend L$ so that you can gain this costume. Using it for in world Cosplay. As you can also see, I am into cosplay. So, this is something that my avatar would be interested in.

Overall, I think that the China grids are very interesting and very stylish architecture even though it under populated.

When I began my Second Life, I found myself standing in what can only be described as a Virtual railway station but instead of there being a train there were several different portals that would take you to different locations. I was intimidated by these at first so I decided to stay in the initial area.  There were several people there discussing various things, as well as several other new-comers who had just moved in like me. They were testing out the different game mechanics. I stayed in this area for about two hours, while here I found that when I switched my Avatar to a male , not as many people communicated with me, but when I returned to my female avatar ( a copy-cat of Rini from the American Version of Sailor Moon) other residents attitudes drastically changed. Several other community members sent me various items, actions, and invites to groups, they offered me advice but they also began to harass me in a very sexual manner.

When these incidents several of the other residents who often IM me and tell me how to make the actions stop and/or how to report these sorts of incidents. I then very easily got a hand of the ways to get around and communicate withing the community. I then spent the next couple of days exploring different places within the grid and even discovered several different locations where I spent most of my time. For example, I enjoyed the Paris France locale and the Baton Rouge area. Those communities were very nice and kind, and I enjoyed the initial experience very much.

To sum of the “shallow pond” there is a kid drowning in a shallow pond and you have an opportunity to save his life. Appiah doesn’t agree with the argument because it doesn’t take into account all of the other variables that could be affecting the situation. (An expensive tailored suit, the age of the child, how shallow the pond is)

I don’t think that we are obligated to do anything. We each have our own rights and responsibilities but they are only to ourselves, but I think that we should want to want to help people, not because society tells us its what we’re meant to do but because of each persons inner virtues. Not that I think that being virtuous isn’t a societal expectation, though it shouldn’t be.

I mean even high schoolers can be virtuous~
