Our group originally focused on the use and design of this region in Second Life, showing representations of ancient Egypt while also relying on the very modern. We were also exploring how Egyptian politics in real life tie into what goes on in SL Egypt (you can teleport inworld to Egypt 110, 129, 23).
However, halfway through our project, the Egypt island we had been exploring in Second Life crashed unexpectedly, and we were teleported to a new Egypt island (you can teleport inworld to Moor 65, 211, 22). We decided to use this as part of our project and began making observations about the differences between the old Egypt and the new Egypt.
We discovered that, although both were cosmopolitan canopies, people gathered in these places for somewhat different reasons.
As we conducted research in Second Life, we observed the interactions of the people in each Egyptian cosmopolitan canopy, old and new. We have collected our observations and conclusions in this Prezi presentation.
