This is “Change We Can Believe In”?

As President-Elect Obama selects his cabinet and appointees, we learn that there is really not going to be any change in the way this country is run. He has not even taken office yet – but disappointed many people in this country.

I wrote in my blog post, The Audacity of Dope earlier this month that based on Obama’s views, his groveling before the Israeli lobby, AIPAC, and his appointing a self proclaimed Zionist for VP, his “Blue Print for Change” – I didn’t believe anything will really change. As President-Elect Obama appoints more Zionists, war hawks, dual Israeli citizens, war criminals, NeoCons and considers keeping Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense – he seems to be proving me right.

Their loyalty does not lie with the interests of the American people. I feel sorry for the people who bought into duplicitous calls for “Hope” and “Change”. If only they had looked carefully at his views, his “blue print” and his proposals.

Sure John McCain was evil and the country would become worse if he became president – but choosing the lesser of two evils is still evil. So the struggle for people who really want change continues.

Here’s a brilliant article by award winning journalist – Jeremy Scahill. Scahill looks into the people that President-Elect Obama has surrounded himself with, is hiring and considering for top posts. Click on the link below to read the complete article.

This is Change? 20 Hawks, Clintonites and Neocons to Watch for in Obama’s White House

Scahill has only mentioned the usual suspects and did not include culprits like Indian American Sonal Shah – who was a member of the Hindu supremacy fundamentalist groups – VHP and the RSS, who are well known to spread hate and to have participated in ghastly acts of violence within India against Muslims, Christians, and oppressed castes, not to speak of spreading the general misogyny that their extremist and fascist ideology preaches. Shah also received an award from Narendra Modi – the man behind the 2002 Gujarat pogrom, or rather genocide, which slaughtered over 2,000 Muslims. This is the woman Obama chose on his advisory board. Obama apparently doesn’t seem to have sound moral judgment. You can read more about Sonal Shah here.

Jeremy Scahill’s book “Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army” was a NY Times bestseller and winner of many awards including the Polk Award. Blackwater was a really insightful, scary account of the war profiteering “private contractors” that are hired to fight for Bush’s “crusade”.

NY Times: Ron Paul Intervew – Part 1

Ron Paul has been the only person who has solutions to the problems ailing our country.

Stephen J. Dubner, Author of “Freakanomics” conducts an interview for the NY Times:

Ron Paul Answers Your Questions

Excerpt:

Q: What active steps would you take toward reducing the size of the government?

A: The first thing I would do, which could be done rather quickly, is change our foreign policy. If you add up all of our overseas expenditures, we spend nearly $1 trillion every year. We have bases in 130 countries, 50,000 troops in Germany, and our brave military men and women bogged down in two wars in the Middle East.

By announcing that America will pursue a foreign policy of non-intervention, where we have trade, diplomacy, and travel — but where we don’t police the world and stay out of the internal affairs of other nations — we could cut that $1 trillion in half and still have a strong national defense to keep us safe. All that money we save could be used to address the entitlement system, making sure there will be funding there for people who have become dependent, while allowing young people to get out.

Secondly, I would begin to reassert respect for the Tenth Amendment. The Constitution does not authorize so many things that the federal government currently does. I would look to phase out entire departments and return these functions to the states as the Constitution intended. The Departments of Education and Energy would be on the top of my list.

Finally, I would look to our monetary system. Government can only tax its people so much before they say no. So the government expands the money supply when it has taxed and borrowed all it can. This inflation is a hidden tax that falls squarely on the middle class. Sound, honest money would go a great way towards reining in the big-spending politicians.

“The Revolution: A Manifesto” on School Summer Reading List

School Committee adjusts summer reading program.

The school committee of Walpole, Massachusetts, has placed Ron Paul’s “The Revolution: A Manifesto” on its Summer reading list for middle-school students. (The article though incorrectly identifies the book as a
biography.)

This is great news. The future looks bright – at least in Massachusetts.

Obama Pledges Allegiance to Israel

Obama Pledges Allegiance to Israel

Last month Hillary Clinton vowed loyalty to Israel by threating a nuclear attack on Iran if Iran ever considers launching an attack on Israel:

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran… We would be able to totally obliterate them and those people who run Iran need to know that.”

Now that Obama seems the Democrats’ likely choice for the Presidential nomination, he is pledging his allegiance to Israel and re-assuring the Israeli lobby (that pretty much controls American foreign policy) that Israel’s interests will come before America’s – this has been the Bush policy for the last eight years.

Israel will continue to get our tax money, weapons, air planes, missiles, bombs, bulldozers, etc so they can brutally oppress the Palestinians, continue to steal their land, destroy their homes and build Israeli settlements on top of them. And every time Israel commits crimes of humanity and violates human rights – we will give them a gold medal and call them “men of peace” as Bush did to Sharon.

Democratic White House contender Barack Obama says the US would be fully committed to Israel’s security if he is elected president.

Obama Pledges Allegiance to Israel.

Excerpts:

“America’s commitment to Israel’s security is unshakable,” the 46-year-old presidential hopeful said Thursday during a brief speech at a celebration to mark the 60th anniversary of Israel.

“I am absolutely convinced that our friendship between the two nations is unbreakable, the Illinois senator added.

“I pledge to you that I will do whatever I can in whatever capacity to not only ensure Israel’s security, but also to ensure that the people of Israel may thrive and prosper and build on the enormous promise that was made 60 years ago,” Senator Obama continued.

“The Road to Serfdom” in Cartoons

Vlad Tarko created this five minute film based on the book “The Road to Serfdom” by F. A. Hayek.

About the book:

The Road to Serfdom by F. A. Hayek remains one of the all-time classics of twentieth-century intellectual thought. For over half a century, it has inspired politicians and thinkers around the world, and has had a crucial impact on our political and cultural history. With trademark brilliance, Hayek argues convincingly that, while socialist ideals may be tempting, they cannot be accomplished except by means that few would approve of. Addressing economics, fascism, history, socialism and the Holocaust, Hayek unwraps the trappings of socialist ideology. He reveals to the world that little can result from such ideas except oppression and tyranny. Today, more than fifty years on, Hayek’s warnings are just as valid as when The Road the Serfdom was first published.

It is one of the books recommended by Ron Paul on his reading list at the end of “The Revolution”.

Monsanto: The Food Mafia

Monsanto - The Food Mafia

Here’s an article from Vanity Fair magazine titled Monsanto’s Harvest of Fear.

It is about Monsanto (the world’s leading producer of genetically modified seeds). Monsanto is known for many unethical and immoral practices such as employing child labor in India to handle poisonous pesticides while paying them half a dollar a day, dumping toxic waste in the UK and bribing officials in Indonesia. Also it sells the “Terminator” seeds – which if used will prevent farmers from replanting their crop’s seed, and force them to purchase the seed from Monsanto for every planting.

The article is very informative. It is very relevant in today’s times with food shortages and rationing going on – who controls the food supply?

Monsanto doesn’t allow reuse of its seeds (which people have been doing since the first farms began in Mesopotamia, present day Iraq- 10,000 BC), but forces farmers to buy new seeds each year – increasing food costs. They hire investigators to spy on farms and make sure no one is re-using – if they do – they get sued.

Mesopotamia (present day Iraq) is actually where agriculture began – but today in Iraq – former US dictator L. Paul Bremer already outlawed seed re-use of “protective kinds” – so Iraq farmers once they buy Monsanto’s seeds will get stuck with buying them from Monsanto once and for all.

If a farmer doesn’t use Monsanto’s seeds – Monsanto will target and sue him too. As the articles states one of the guys wasn’t even a farmer or a seed seller. They are also buying up the smaller seed companies – this way they drive out the competition.

Now it is going after milk and is taking aggressive steps to target and sue those who don’t want to use Monsanto hormones on their cows so they are forced out of business – another dirty trick they use is claim on the internet that these companies are lying about not using hormones.

Monsanto has the F.D.A’s support and the F.D.A will come after you (another reason why F.D.A. should be abolished). Your milk is probably already tainted with their hormones but pretty soon you will not be able to buy even milk that claims it is free from growth hormones if Monsanto has its way.

Monsanto succeeded in getting Pennsylvania, to begin February 1, 2008, to ban labels claiming their milk products are free from hormones on grounds that it implies the competitor’s milk is somehow unhealthy. But people started writing, emailing, calling the Agriculture secretary of Pennsylvania and he had to reverse the decision.

The Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul – No. 1 on Amazon

Crash Proof by Peter Schiff

There it is “The Revolution: A Manifesto” by Ron Paul makes history and the top spot on Amazon on it’s official release date April 30, 2008.

It is the No. 1 best seller on Amazon beating even Oprah’s book of the month selection and will debut this Sunday on the NY Times Best Seller List (which only counts sales at physical bookshops and not online like Amazon) at No. 7.

I read it a week before its release; I believe this book is Ron Paul’s greatest work and will be the most important book you will read this year if not ever.

The book was a bestseller on Amazon even months before it came off the presses. And it will remain a formative influence and reach out to people long after everyone has forgotten what “Audacity of Hope” was all about. Just the first page of “The Revolution” says more than all the books ever written by Obama, Clinton or McCain.

You learn things in this book that don’t appear anywhere else. You’ll get more education by reading this book than you will by spending years in college. Ron Paul has been suppressed by the media for saying things that none of the other Presidential candidates have the guts or courage to say. He’s the greatest thinker in America since Thomas Jefferson. He preaches for small government, lowering taxes, restoring civil liberties, getting rid of the patriot act, having a solid currency (getting rid of the inflation), states rights, getting rid of government subsidies to whatever industry has the strongest lobby, balanced budgets and preventing the state from becoming a nanny state and no more undeclared and illegal wars. He’s one politician who can never be bought by any special interests.

Americans are sick of their government waging wars on countries that pose no threat to them, then using their taxes to fund these illegal wars, provide military aid to tyrants and dictators around the world, fund Israeli occupation, pay corrupt contractors like Halliburton, Bechtel, Blackwater and so on. The government continues to print money since it is spending more than it takes in from taxes, and is bent on making the once “almighty dollar” worthless.

If you recall my post in April of 2003: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/srss-Alumni/message/4608 – I mentioned one of the reasons why Iraq was attacked was because it started selling oil for euros instead of dollars, this helped the euro gain almost 25% against the dollar back then.

Well, now Iran already has stopped conducting transactions in US Dollars:
Iran Dumps Dollar for Oil Trades.

A lot of rhetoric and propaganda has been spreading to get a war with Iran going recently. Admiral Fallon, the top military commander for Middle East, Asia and East Africa was forced out because he did not agree with the Bush administration on a war with Iran – and General Petraeus (some in the US call him General Betray US) was installed instead after he blamed Iran for attacks on US forces and at the Green Zone in Iraq in his report.

If this has any significance on what’s to come, we only have to remember what happened to Saddam when he switched to the euro.

This is truly a revolution that Ron Paul has started – there are many people this election running for office as “Ron Paul Republicans”. But the greatest hope for change in this country to me came from the most unexpected and surprising source.

On one of my trips a couple of weeks ago to Washington DC , I took my 8 year old son Darin with me. We went sightseeing on the famous Old Town Trolley. I highly recommend it. It is the best way to see Washington DC.

Let me first say, my kid spends a lot of time with me, so naturally being inquisitive as kids are, he knows about a lot of things that I am passionate about.

And because of my daily activities in support of Ron Paul’s candidacy over the last year or so, at this age – 8 years old – he knows more about the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, US history, American politicians (past and present) and their views than most Americans ever will their entire lives.

These days, Americans are more concerned about what Britney Spears is up to. Recently she has started working out at my local gym and ever since the place has been crowded as people are showing up just to see her working out (with sunglasses on! ha ha). Now I go to workout when American Idol’s on – that way everyone’s home watching TV and I can workout in peace.

Here’s a profound quote that explains American apathy and current situation very aptly:

“How many watched the debate last night? [on screen: Light cheers and a few boos]. How many watched ‘American Idol?’ [on screen: Loud cheers and applause]. You get the government you deserve.”
— Jay Leno, The Tonight Show, April 22, 2008.

While taking pictures at the White House, I asked Darin, what would be his platform if he were running for President of the USA ? He replied:

“Limited government, low taxes, no more wars, greater civil rights and bringing back the Constitution. You know, Dad…. like Ron Paul”.

I was expecting him to respond with something like “Free Ferro Rocher (his favorite chocolates), free books and soccer games daily – and no more homework”.

Oh well, some people may call it “brainwashing” – but I call it teaching a child principles, moral values, ethics, making wise choices, and having the courage to choose the right thing for the right reasons and avoid wrong things because of popularity. That’s what real leadership is all about. I am giving the book to Darin as a gift, although, it seems like he’s the person who needs to read it the least. He’s already part of The Revolution.

Blackwater Book – A Must Read!

blackwater book

I am currently reading the book “Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s most Powerful Mercenary Army.” By Jeremy Scahill. It is like a horror story, fast paced and chilling.

Frightening to see how this company operates both inside and outside the country accountable to no one. Today in America, Blackwater USA is not nearly as well known as Halliburton or Bechtel — two mega-corporations making a killing off the reconstruction of Iraq. But it is making its way up there now.

Recently, the State Dept. renewed Blackwater’s contract despite the Pentagon’s labeling of the September killing of 17 civilians by Blackwater mercenaries, “a criminal event”:

The book traces the history of Blackwater USA, the powerful private army that the U.S. government has quietly hired to operate in international war zones and on American soil. It has some twenty thousand troops ready to carry out “regime change” on the fly and hires mercenaries from all over the world – especially ones that were veterans of tyrannical or oppressive regimes such as Apartheid in South Africa and August Pinochet in Chile.

This book is truly a brilliant collection of research. Jeremy Scahill has done a terrific job of explaining the history of the founder’s family, town, relatives, political views and ties, etc to what the company’s operations both overseas and domestic look like. There is so much going on today that most average citizens do not have information about.

I would highly recommend you read this book. It is very informative and worth reading. Instead of just reporting on the names and dates, Scahill goes further and explores just why institutions like Blackwater constitute such a dire threat to our government and country. Without any of the checks and balances associated with using our U.S. military and without any allegiance to treaties, standards, or accountability to the American people, these armies for hire represent the ability for money to buy unchecked power in ways we had previously thought could not happen in the U.S.
