#kindofabigdeal #WACDisney

I love Twitter.

Twitter is somehow cleaner than Facebook.

There's less noise, and more conversations that are one on one and authentic.

There's a wide variety of content, to satisfy even the most #shiny #squirrel personality.

And Twitter has brought me some of the most EPIC challenges.

For example, today, my friend Leslie reminded me of a hilarious blog hop some of us who became friends on Twitter once did - the "Get Ill Soon" challenge - HAHA! OMG I laughed so hard today when she reminded me of this.

You really need people in your life who challenge you to do things, because many times, those things are awesome.

Friday, a Twitter friend - @Clay_Harrison - tweeted a challenge to a few of us. Disney/Pixar/Marvel character - make art and post it.

I ruminated a bit.

I almost used my Undefined hand carved Rocky stamp, since I just saw Guardians of the Galaxy and I loved it.

But then, my friend @ImtheQ posted that she was reading Ms. Marvel. And my wheels started turning. And so did Google images.

But mixed into the Google image search for Ms. Marvel was Marvel Girl.

And OH how I loved the colors in her outfit. So Baylor Bears-y, Green Bay-y and summery and fun.

I could not resist.

So out came my Dress Up Framelits (retired) and my watercolor paper. Out came my Brusho powdered watercolor. Out came my BELOVED Calling All Heros set, my Smoky Slate ink, my #SoSocial stamp set (seriously - how perfect is THAT for a Twitter challenge??), my craft knife and my Crystal Effects.

AND OUT CAME MY SQUEAL!!

I love this card, I'm not gonna lie.

I love the acidic green and yellow of her outfit. I love the bold red of her belt buckle. I love that I was patient enough to let each layer dry so I could do a little detail work on the belt buckle - always hard with watercolor.

I love the confidence.

Being a superhero means you know you're #kindofabigdeal.

They are sure of themselves, which frees them to do great things.

I started reading this book today which starts out with a great quote:

Don't apologize for who you are or the art you create. ~C.J. Rider

Don't.

Make it for yourself.

Be as confident as a superhero. :)

Besides, you look awesome in a green dress and a mask.

Loveyameanitbye.

Get ILL Soon!!

Bwaha!! Come on, you know you've had this thought. I kind of hoped this lady at Joann's would bust out with the Swine Flu right before my eyes the other day. She was SO MEAN to me. I was asking her about the Ott Lights and I could swear that when I was saying "Do you know if there's a display out so I can see how big the base is?" that to her it sounded like "Hey - I have a monkey - will you change its diaper?" because she kept treating me like an insane lobotomized leper. I didn't like it. I wanted her to get just a little cough or something to teach her a lesson. I wish I HAD had a poopy monkey I could have flung at her.

Anyway, you remember Auntie Princess? Well she asked us stampy types the other day if someone made "Get Ill Soon" cards. I'm SURE she had someone in mind when she asked it. Hilarious. Anyway, as things like this do, it evolved into a blog hop challenge, and so here you are, with your swine flu mask, checking out some smart alecky Get Ill Soon cards.

I found myself wishing that I had little germ stamps. I looked through all my monster stamps and even my shape stamps trying to see if I could make some scary bacteria and viruses out of them but I couldn't find anything. So I decided to go the old fashioned route and just do a drawing for the blog hop.

I busted out my Stampin' Up! watercolor paper and used a Copic Multiliner for the drawing. These are amazing because they are pigment pens, and are water and copic proof, so you can color them with anything. I love them so much.

A few times, Splotchy stepped in to give me his artistic input. He's so helpful.
With his help, I finally ended up with a very scary collection of germs on a flesh colored background - mmmwwwaaahhhaaaa!
I drew a little border around them and mounted them on Basic Black Cardstock, edged with some fun ribbon I got in the dollar bin. Apparently it has magical powers because then Splotchy fell asleep on it.
Splotchy would like to direct you to the next stop on the blog hop but he's still sleeping. So I'll tell you. You will be traveling to Canada to visit my friend Sue Farrant - better bring a jacket!!

Have fun, don't get sick and have a great Sunday!

It's Auntie Princess' Birthday!

Sorry Auntie Princess is so small - that is her avatar, which makes me laugh every time I see it. If you can't laugh at Joan Crawford as a psychopathic mom, well, you're just not funny! heh heh.

I'm going to share with you some quotes from my dear Auntie Princess, some of which are so hilarious that my friend Leslie, of the Crooked Stamper blog, has made them into cards.

"Oh gawd nut bag BIL just gave husbo empty cranberry juice bottles for a birthday gift, BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"Aaarg. just found out person who promised 2 make bday cake might have been talking through gin. "

"Is it my imagination or are there more women driving around like they have balls these "days?

"I hate that show Clean House, those people would have a nervous breakdown here."

"Boy, all nut bags were at the grocery store today. I'm renaming it Dangerway, where shopping is an adventure!"

"OK, new plan for party next sat. Tie the 2 irritating women that r coming together and let them duke it out - things are shaping up!"

Everything this woman says is hilarious. She's like a character from Tuna Christmas, for you Texans that have been fortunate enough to see that play. Except Auntie Princess is real. Thank God. And today is her birthday.

Aside from her daily hilarity, she makes beautiful vintage things and sells them on Etsy - lamps, hats, clothing, and ribbony stuff. You can take a peek here.

Instead of a birthday card, I made Auntie Princess a Thank You card. Because I love everyone who makes me laugh. Thanks for making me laugh every day, Auntie Princess.

A Wrinkle in Time

Today is class day! And the projects are just too cute. But of course they're top secret unless you want in the club ;). You don't know what you're missing with all the new stuff!!!

But I do have something for you today since you can't be here with me.

More goodies from the new catalog tomorrow - but today, a little retired stamp set tribute to a Twitter buddy over at Deadpan Alley.

Anybody read those Madeline L'Engle books when they were little? These are FANTASTIC books.

And without a book review, I'll just tell you there's something really cool about colliding with a whole new universe and discovering its secrets.

Here's a little quote for ya.

"When I ponder mysteries - I get a childlike rush: mindfulness, curiosity, wonder, thrill of solution, giddiness."

Got that on Twitter via @ACRead and @lallaporter.

Twitter is my latest universe. It has been so cool for finding neat marketing resources, people who post helpful links for my graphic design work, people who make me laugh, and beautiful jewelry and art.

I'll put a list of a few of my faves at the end should you choose to bust up in some Twitter. :) Hope you do.

But Wednesday, my little Deadpan Alley was nowhere to be found! And I missed her terribly! Her Twitter icon is a piece of her gorgeous artwork, that's all hand drawn in ink on old book pages, which you know is close to my heart. My Twitscape was forlorn without her birds. As it would be without my paperbat, but more on that later.

Turns out her internet was down, so I decided to do a little stamping tribute to her. Go peek at her work at the link above before you study this.I used the retired A Little Birdie Told me, and stamped it on a page from a botany book I got used. It's a gorgeous book.

I colored the bird with Riding Hood Red reinker (buh-bye you gorgeous red) and stamped the little heart from Cheep Talk in Riding hood red, along with the branch from the same set in black.

The "marvelous" is a rubon from the colored "Bright Delight" set.I added some white gel pen highlights on the bird and the hearts.

Hopefully this will keep some Deadpan Alley fans going till her internet is fixed! Her art is much more lovely!

I'm thinking that I should do Twibutes (hee hee) to my other Tweople - here are some of my faves:

@paperbat - I so love my little paperbat. Stunning talent, great writing. Best icon on Twitter.
@dimbulb52 - quite possibly the funniest man on Twitter. Plus he likes the same music I do.
@holyxuxa - ROTFLMAO
@browneyedpea - one of the world's sweetest ladies, with FABBY links.
@barelyknit - in cahoots with holyxuxa in the ROTFLMAO dept.
@sockington - the cat with half a million followers. You know why? He's HILARIOUS.
@toddanddon - my local radio talk show hosts who make me laugh till I pull a muscle. They won't let me take my glasses off.
@thesearedays - my Austin idol - mom, gorgeous, ninja, blogger, runner, Ellen guest, gigglefest.

Cuz @thesearedays is my home girl, I'm gonna need you to check out one story in particular. If I hadn't already loved this woman, I would have asked her to leave her Iphone for me when I read this. When you start to read the story, please click on the Rachel is a Princess story before finishing, so that you can get the full flavor. Spectacular story of depravity and bliss all wrapped up right here in my own backyard. Here you go - enjoy.

Don't even get me started on the great people I've found in the last few days, like @Locket2you and more - they're wonderful. I'll share as I go and/or buy things.

It's an amazing group of humans. Check em out.

Speaking of amazing humans, my dear sweet reader Linda sent me a pressie - some of her AMAZING HANDMADE SOAP, which will be featured tomorrow. You're gonna freak!

But, she also sent the girls a pressie.

And here's how Maddie felt about it. :) I'm lucky I didn't lose a finger. This is the look she has when she says "I'm taking this now - let go and no one gets hurt."Needless to say, she hasn't allowed Splotchy to play with them at all!!

But both girls would like to wish you all a happy..
