Lainie The Jazz Dancer...

Alaina was part of the official pre-game entertainment at a Jazz game a couple months ago. Her dance team performed at the Jazz-Clippers game on January 25th. We're not prejudiced parents, but she was clearly the best one out there. No one was even close.

Dustin Takes A Business Trip To San Diego...

In January, I took a trip to San Diego for a software convention. After several days of seminars titled things like "A Guide To The SolidWork API", and "FEA Applications In Cosmos", I got to go to a block party complete with food, music, and "go-go" dancers. The only downside was when a waitress made fun of me for not drinking beer - she called me a "girl". I can assure you I'm not a girl, as is evident by my apparent excitement at watching the dancer do her thing.

Dustin Is A Bit Of A Grump!

Not much to say here other than Dustin is annoyed by traffic, crowds at the mall, people yapping on cell phones, avacados, satellite TV disruptions, scratched DVD's, Mariah Carrey, ingrown toenails, high gas prices, stickers, obnoxious bumper stickers, politicians (all makes and models), K-Mart, beatnicks, whiners, veggie burgers, car payments, taxes, flat tires, tire stores, spam (the canned meat & junk e-mail), boy bands, sunburns, etc.

NOTE: This list is not all inclusive, only a cross section of the things he's dissatisfied with.

Jace Likes Candy And Nothing Else....

Our son Jace is a wonderful boy. He's almost 3 years old. He watches a lot of "Superman", "Batman", and "Spiderman" on the TV, and eats nothing we fix for him. He has developed an affinity for candy and pop. He likes M&M's, Hershey Bars, and Coke. In many way's he's exactly like Dustin, but less chubby.

You said to bring it on!

"Mommy, look what I found!"

As I run up the stair to see what Jace is so excited about, my thoughts are drawn to things he has recently lost. ie. his Buzz Lightyear action figure, the engineer to his Geo-Trax train, three pennies, 1 green bouncy ball and a half-full sippy cup of milk that I'm sure I don't want back. Any of these would have been a great find, but as I reach the top step and get a glimpse of what's actually in his hands I nearly throw-up! Earlier that morning, Jace insisted on wearing his Superman underwear. Naively, I think this is a break-through in the potty training fight that has just begun. I'm feeling pretty good about myself as he dons the underwear and the cape (an old blue hand towel he's been wearing around for a month now) and runs off to save the world from the Sandman (he's got his superhero's crossed, but I think it it's cute.) Now, ten minutes later, his hands aren't full of lost treasure, they're full of you-know-what! Hey, you said to bring it on!

For Being Somewhat Of A Nerd......

Well, I'm a nerd (Dustin specifically). However, I buck the trend in that I haven't bothered getting a blog or an ipod until recently. I don't watch much Star Trek, and I think people who play Dungeons & Dragons are weird and possibly dangerous. Nonetheless, here is my first foray into the so called "cyberspace" or "net" as it is sometimes called. Please comment and be nice, because I know people who can hunt you down. Gracias.
