This is the year that has proven that Democrats don't clean their own messes.  I am seeing commercials run on TV scaring the public with lies and untruths.

California Primary Endorsement Post #2 -- City of Angels (and one in SD and SB)

"Hip" Map of LA

Here we go!

A quick Reminder for Endorsements:

RPLAC = Republican County of Los Angeles;
CRA = California Republican Assembly (From the Right); and
RLC = Republican Liberty Caucus (Libertarian and Ron Paul Supporters).

***Also, these are my endorsements.  Though I am part of a few Republican organizations, these choices are my own and do not reflect on any group. *****

First though, I am going to travel south to a contested campaign.  Because I don't like the way he has been treated by some Social Conservatives (This person is particularly homophobic -- Reagan's Eleventh commandment does not matter; Only HER vision of what America used to be.)  I'm a Goth and don't take kindly to people not wanting people in my culture [Goths] and District [Reagan's old Home District has West Hollywood where I have many friends] out of the GOP.

After DeMaio's office was attacked, rather then stand behind each other, Jorgensen did not say anything.  This is not cool.

I endorse DeMaio in CA52 (SDGOP)

And my friend John A. wanted me to give a shout out to a candidate in San Benandino:

I endorse Lesli Gooch for CA-31 (SBGOP).  She is a Pragmatic Conservative, we need more like that in DC.

State Assembly Districts

Now, welcome to LA!

Here are the Assembly candidates (not all endorsed by RPLAC) and any asterisks means I can vote for them.

AD 36 (Palmdale) -- Suzette Martinez
AD 38 (Santa Clarita) -- Scott Wilk (RPLAC)
AD 43 (Burbank) -- Todd Royal
AD 45 (W. SFV) -- Susan Shelley (RPLAC and she is a good friend. Vote for her!)
AD 46 (Sherman Oaks) Zachary Taylor (RPLAC)
AD 48 (West Covina) Joe Gardner (RPLAC)
AD 49 (Monterey Park) Estrela Siergist (RPLAC)
AD 50 (MY District) Brad Torgan (RPLAC) Vote for this guy, he rocks!*
AD 52 (Ontario) Dorothy Pineda (RPLAC)
AD 54 (Culver City) Glen Ratcliff
AD 55 (Diamond Bar) Ling-Ling Chang
AD 57 (Whittier) Rita Topalian (RPLAC)
AD 62 (Inglewood) Ted Grose (RPLAC)
AD 63 (South Gate) Adam Miller (RPLAC)
AD 66 (Torrance) David Hadley (RPLAC)
AD 70 (Long Beach) John Goya (RPLAC)

SD 18 (SFV) Ricardo Benitez (RPLAC)
SD 20 (Ontario) Matthew Munson (RPLAC)
SD 24 (East LA) William Morrission (Good friend of mine, please vote for him!)
SD 32 (Whittier) Mario Guerra (RPLAC)
SD 34 (Huntington Beach) Janet Nguyen (RPLAC)

And we return to the Big Map for a Big State!

OK! My favorite races to follow!

Let's walk in LA to see all the different districts!

CD 23 (Kern)  Rep. Kevin McCarthy (RPLAC)

CD 25 (Santa Clarita/Palmdale) Steve Knight  -- This seat is where "Buck" McKeon is retiring. A lot of hard words and backstabbing is occurring here.  To keep the past in the past (as it were -- more on the dead at another time), I endorse Steve Knight.  (But I will happily work with Tony Strickland if he wins).

CD 26 (Ventura County) Jeff Gorrell (RPLAC)

CD 27 (Pasadena) Jack Orswell (RPLAC)

CD 29 (East SFV) William Leader (RPLAC)

CD 30 (West SFV) Pablo Kleinman -- Another harsh campaign fr a vote rich territory.  My rule remains the same, my choice for the primary, the winner gets my support for the General.  In this heavily Jewish area, Kleinman represents the area well.

CD 32 (West Covina) Arturo Alas (RPLAC) -- I am happy to support him! Go Alas Go!

CD 33 (MY Home district -- Waxman's old district and Reagan's home district)
Elan Carr.  No one else matters.  He is legit, his campaign is strong and no amount of re-districting should make any seat safe for any party.  The House is still going to be Majority Republican.  If the Westside and Beverly Hills want a voice, vote Carr!*

CD 37 (Culver City) Adam King (RPLAC)

CD 39 (Fullerton) Rep. Ed Royce (RPLAC)

CD 43 (Inglewood) John Wood (RPLAC)

CD 47 (Long Beach) Andy Whallon (RPLAC)

And finally, here comes the Judges! (AL RPLAC endorsed)

Office #61 LA County Dayan Matthai
Office #76 LA County Allison Matsumura Estrada
Office #87 LA County Steven Schreiner
Office #107 LA County Joan Chrostek
Office #117 LA County Judge James Pierce
Office #138 LA County Donna Hollingsworth Armstrong
Office #157 LA County Andrew Cooper
Office #157 LA County Arnold Mednick

See you at the voting booth!

The Valley Endorses Speaker Gingrich and Governor Palin for 2012

On the eve of Iowa, I endorse for 2012 Speaker Gingrich and Governor Sarah Palin.

If you are a reader of the Valley, you know I endorsed Governor Palin here (and asked people to write her name in here to stop Romney).

But reality intervened and I was asked to endorse those who are already on the ticket.

It was a matter of  cutting out those who can't from those who know and Speaker Gingrich can fight politically and work with the Congress since he was a long time member of that branch.

The last Speaker elected to the Presidency was Polk; Gingrich understands the political fight the Democrats and media have in store for the General (as does Palin) and he is an ideas guy who can bring America into the 21st Century.

Now, here's why I came to Gingrich:

Gov. Gary Johnson: As a Social Libertarian, I was impressed with his background and views (and that he balanced budgets in his state).  But the moment he jumped to the Libertarian Party and endorsed Ron Paul. I had to decline my support.

Rep. Ron Paul: He never Governed a State; He never led a Federal Agency.  His foreign policy is good for pre-World war II America and some of the Paulbots scare me.  So, bye-bye

Governor Perry: One Texas Governor a generation thank you. One state should not have a hold on the Presidency (the New Englenders time has come and gone as well).   Plus Governor Perry is a Social Conservative; It does not mix well with my Gothy instincts.

Rep Bachmann:  A fire breather in the House of Representatives and a Social Conservative; Not up my alley.

Senator Santorum: I met him at the SFVRC.  Nice guy, but another Social Conservative.  Not an executive or leader.

Governor Romney: The "Moderate," Establishment Choice.  Backed by Meg Whitman staff who cared not one whit about the "locals,"  Romney never defends any other Republican under fire; he never ran for re-election after Romneycare.  NO.  HELL NO.

Herman Cain: Dropped out before I could make the choice.

And here are my reasons for Speaker Gingrich:

1)   Since he was a Speaker, he knows the different Congressional Districts to fight in.  He is smart enough to understand that by flipping Los Angeles (with funds and supporters), there are 55 Electoral votes.  And if you read the Ambition and the Power; Gingrich understands the media.

2) Speaker Gingrich knows from his time in DC, the best people to hire. No one hired by the Speaker ever sold him out.  He has core ideas and ideals and he is willing to fight for them. The best Presidents don't follow polls, they follow ideals.

3) Good economy in the 90's? Thank your Republican Congress that Clinton signed the Bills to make it go.

The Valley approves this message.

For the CRP Convention: Endorsing Tom Del Beccaro, Regional Chair Adam Abrahms and Prop. 14 Ideas

I am going up on Friday (thanks!)  to the CRP Convention -- Robert McCain cannot :{
This post is about California and Los Angeles Republican Party politics, so for now, those not involved in the Convention or Republican California Politics, please follow the next two videos:

Koyaanisqatsi

And this one:

Ferris Bueller Day's Off Ending

-------------------
Now then, let us talk among ourselves, we Republicans in the Southland and in California.

Tom del Beccaro for CRP Chair

My first endorsement is for Chairman of the California Republican Party and there is only one name in the mix: Tom Del Beccaro.

If you vote on Sunday, this is the man to vote for.

There are a couple of things that make me excited to vote for Tom:

1) His vision as he writes here:

As the CRP Chair, Tom will continue to work on the 4 Ms of Party Politics - Message, Marketing, Motivation & Money.

Message & Marketing:

The California Republican Party will become ascendant once again when it champions a clear Message of limited government. Working with the Republican Legislators, Donors and Volunteers, Tom will work to use limited government issues to attract Californians to the Republican Party. Tom will also work on revolutionizing the manner in which the Republican Party markets its ideas through the Internet, Talk Radio and the mediums friendly to our cause.

Motivation:

The CRP never works so well as when the Legislators, Donors and Volunteers are all pulling in the same direction. The Volunteers of the CRP are critical to its future success. Tom has made over 500 appearances around the state over the last 7 years along with hundreds of radio and television appearances- not to mention his many writings. Tom will continue those efforts as well develop innovative programs and volunteers drives to build the ranks of the CRP and expand our Get-Out-The-Vote efforts.

Money:

Like it or not, money plays an ever more important role in modern politics. Tom will continue to work develop independent funding programs for the CRP so that the CRP can not only stand on its own but project its own image in California politics.

2)  And this is from the great Sue Abato. If she is on your campaign, you have a professional of White House stature (plus she can beat you up with one hand -- I've seen it happen /joke)

"Tom del Beccaro is the man we need to lead the California Republican [Party] into the second decade of the 21st century. He inclusive of all Republicans. I think what I admire most about Tom is that he listens and remembers. I am a breast cancer survivor who has had some reoccurences along the way. Tom, always goes out of his way to find out about my health or inquire about my health.

"Watch Tom, he will boldly lead the California Republican Party where no one dared or dreamed to take it."

LA Regional Chair Adam Abrahms

Now we go to the other race I'm following, the LA Reigonal Chair.  The Valley strongly endorses Adam Abrahms for that position.

His opposition is someone from the past of RPLAC, here is a story that gives an example of how LA Republicans can look towards the future with pride:

"In 433 BC, just before the Peloponisian war, the island of [Corfu] and the Greek City-state of Conrith stood on the brink of conflict. Both parties sent Ambassadors to Athens to win them over to their side. The stakes were high and whomever had Athens was sure to win the war....

"[Corfu] spoke first. It's ambassador began...the only thing [Corfu] could offer was an alliance of mutual interests. [Corfu] had a navy only surpassed in size and strength by Athens' own; an alliance between the two states would create a formidable force, one that could intimidate the rival state of Sparta.  That was all [Corfu] could offer.

"The representative from Corinth then gave a brilliant, passionate speech...He talked of everything that Corinth had done in the past.  ...He finally went on to list the many services Corinth had performed for Athens, and the importance of showing gratitude to one's friends.

" After the speech,, the Athenians debated in the Assembly.  On the second round, they voted to support [Corfu] and drop Corinth,"

-- The 48 Laws of Power, Robert Greene, Pgs 97-8

Mr. Abrams is Corfu, and having been a leader with the California Republican Lawyers Assn, he helped Chairwoman Barnett over the lawsuit.  Having legal representation on your side during an election is the strongest navy RPLAC can have.  I've seen people from the opposition's endorsement list who have helped Mr. Abrahms.

The past is the past, let it go.

And here is an outtake from an email from Former Assemblywoman Paula Boland:

"As a three term Los Angeles area Assemblywoman I care deeply about LA and our future.  I am so pleased to support Adam Abrahms because I know his commitment to our Party, including his quest for unity and his support of Jane Barnett, and a strong County Party.  I have known and worked with Adam for over 15 years and view him as the future of our Party.  He is bright, talented and full of integrity

"Supporting Chairman Jane Barnett-- Adam has continually supported RPLAC and our county chair Jane Barnett. Adam and the California Republican Lawyers Association were the first group to come to Jane's aid when Adam wrote a pro bono legal opinion against those challenging Jane's election and the legitimate RPLAC board....Adam faithfully served as sergeant of arms and several members of his campaign team worked diligently to help re-elect Jane at December's RPLAC organizational meeting.

"Unity--  Adam's commitment to unity has proven results.  He recently brought together the two divided state Young Republican organizations who had been bitterly opposed to one another for two decades...Adam's skill for brining us together can also be seen in the fact that he has supporters from all spectrums of our party. ...

"I encourage you all to look at Adam's playbook for Los Angeles. In order to move forward and begin to win seats in the county once again, we need new leadership like Adam, with the vision and energy to put us back on track."

 Prop 14 Changes

There are a few plans  to vote on dealing with Prop. 14.  Here is what I want to vote on.  If anyone wants use these as a guidelines to vote on, please let me know.

A)   Assembly District members can decide how to handle Primary races -- at least before anyone enters a race, all local candidates should submit to a private Q & A in front of the AD's;

B)   Elected officials have the clout as Assembly District Members.  We are not democrats giving an elite veto power over the public.  But the Elected official must co-ordinate with the AD;

C)  Veto Power over candidate races should be held by the assembled Republican voters during a caucus.  The AD can cite pros and cons for each candidate.  Every member can cite who endorsed whom, but no GOP (local) candidate goes forward without meeting the voters.

D)  During every primary, from City Council to President, Republicans caucus in their home AD.  The Chair of the AD decides the place (the time is Primary day).

And finally,

E) At every CAGOP Convention, candidate for GOP positions must be there or the AD's are allowed to veto that candidate for the current race.

That's it.  I will be both media and delegate up in Sac!

See you there!

Endorsement Day: Election 2010 The Propositions

And here we go!

For Election 2010 in California, there are 9 Propositions (two Propositions cancel each other out).

Prop 19 - Pot Legalization --  CAGOP and LAGOP both say "No,"  The SFVRC says "No," with a stipulation, written by my mentor Gary "Mr. Republican" Aminoff:

My idealism say vote "YES;" My pragmatism says "NO,"
I'll follow my idealism on this one.

Props 20 and 27 --Re-districting  Prop 20 says citizens can re-district Congress, Prop. 27 brings that process to the State assembly.  The people already voted for the citizens commission in 2008 with Prop. 11; Prop 20 contuinues that course, Prop 27 shuts it down.
My vote:  20  YES  27 NO

Prop 21 -- Tax your car for State parks -- I love parkland, and I love driving.  This car tax was what caused Gov. Grey davis (and a bit of karma too) to get recalled.  Yes, adding $18 seems nice, but does anyone know if the funds will go where it should?
Think of Social Security.
My Vote:  21 NO

Prop 22 - State takes City Funds -- If the State has no extra funds, they can take from local communities.
If california cannot fnd money beecause of there is notr enough taxpayers (business or people), they shouldn't grab the funds from anywhere else.  Make the State Tax friendy to get those funds.  Texas is beating California economically where they don't affect their localities..
My vote:     NO

What is wrong with waiting on a theory until people are working again?
My vote:    23   YES

Prop 24 - Change Business Tax laws to make them Higher - In a place where Unemployment is over 10%, where business are few, go and add taxes.  I don't think so.
My Vote:  24 NO

Prop 25 and 26 - Changing the California State Budget process - 25 allows the California to be passed with a simple majority (It needs a 2/3 to pass) and 26 means the State cannot pass any tax or fees without a 2/3 majority.
My vote:   25  YES  26  YES

My vote is simple, like in 08, when the Democrats won everything and given the Keys to the Kingdom, the public saw how bad they did; Let the majority pass the budget come what may.

The voters will have the final decision.

That's the props, peeps!

State Offices next!

State Measures, Assesor, and Central Committee Endorsements 2010

As the ONLY Conservative Republican Jewish Goth Activist (TM), I must finish discharging my duty and give the final Endorsements for the June 8th primary for California.

Let's re-cap:

Governor Endorsement: Steve Poizner;
Six State Level Executive Endorsements;
Senator: Chuck DeVore; and
Congressional Endorsements for all of Los Angeles.

And as one the few States that are run by Public Plebiscite (which is a good thing, let the people speak), here are my endorsements for the State Measures:

Proposition 13: If you own a home, Office Building, etc, that gets fitted to handle earthquakes (an issue on the Western edge of the Republic, North and South) does not allow County assessors to re-asses Property values. Both CAGOP and LAGOP say "No,". I also say "VOTE NO,"

Proposition 14: This proposition changes the way primary (and general) elections work. Instead of two parties choosing their best champion, it allows an open Primary and allows the top two vote getters (even if the same party) to challenge each other in the General. Chairman Nehring opposes this, so does the CRP and the LAGOP. This is simple for me. Primaries for the Party activists or highly active in current events, November for the General populace. It has worked this way in Presidential Elections, why should California break that precedent? VOTE NO.

Proposition 15: Public Funding for candidates? Let's put it this way, if Senator Obama couldn't abide by McCain-Feingold, why should we on the Right not follow his example? Public funding is a fools game (Senator McCain and Senator Dole in their respective elections went by the rule, and both lost). CAGOP, LAGOP and I say "HELL NO!" Plus why put Political Fundraisers out of a job?

Proposition 16: Before any city or State takes over any utilities, the populace of said city or State in California needs a 2/3rd vote in support by the local populace. CAGOP: Yes LAGOP: NO. I say "VOTE YES," The public is always right.

Proposition 17: Makes it easier for Car Insurance companies to work with their customers: CAGOP: YES, LAGOP:YES. I say "VOTE YES,"

Now onto Los Angeles County assessor. There are 13 people running for this job but only one has worked with Chairwoman Barnett and shown up to ask for votes at the SFVRC. He sticks with the principles of Howard Jarvis and will help keep taxes down on homes. I support John Lewis Dortch.

For the 43rd Republican Central Committee:
1. Jane Barnett,
2. Felicia Tweedy,
3. Kyle Tanner,
4. Lenore Solis,
5. Linda M. Sheffield
6. D. Lewis, and
7. William Saracino

And for the special Election for the 43rd State assembly seat:
Sundar Ramani (Vote twice for him -- special primary and general are both on Tuesday)

On Tuesday, I will keep track of the Los Angeles Primary vote.

Be a proud Californian, vote on Tuesday!

Los Angeles Congressional Primary Endorsements 2010

There is one more post before the Primary, that one will be about the State measures on the ballot. Unfortunately, there is no one place at the CAGOP, LAGOP or SFVRC sites where the list of names for the State assembly or State senate seats in Los Angeles are consolidated.

Now then, from the Antelope Valley to Long Beach, here is a list of Republican candidates the Valley endorses for June 8 [Asterisks for those candidates whom I have helped]:

CA-22: Rep. Kevin McCarthy (unopposed)

CA-25: Rep Howard "Buck" McKeon (unopposed)

CA-26: Rep. David Drier

CA-27: Mark Reed *

CA-28: Merlin Froyd *

CA-29: John Colbert

CA-30: This is a tough one. I was at the debate and I like the top three. The choice is by a nose, but I endorse whomever of the top 3 wins on June 8th. My choices: 1) Ari David * 2) Robert Flutie 3) David Benning.

CA-31: Stephen Smith (unopposed)

CA-32: Ed Schmerling (unopposed)

CA-33: Phil Jannerjahn

CA-34: Wayne Miller (unopposed)

CA-35: K. Bruce Brown (unopposed)

Six State California Offices Endorsements 2010

We are inching closer to the June 8th Primary day. There are six state positions also up for grabs:

Lieutenant Governor, California Secretary of State, State Comptroller, State Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

There are 3 positions with only one Republican running, let's highlight those people:

State Comptroller: Former State Senator Tony Strickland of Thousand Oaks;
State Treasurer: State Senator Mimi Walters of Laguna Niguel; and
Insurance Commissioner: State Assemblyman Mike Villines of Fresno

Support these three.

Now onto the disputed Primaries:

Lieutenant Governor: With all the hassle the Democrats in the State Assembly and State Senate gave his appointment, there is no else to support but Abel Maldonado. Vote for him in June and November. He has a great future ahead of him.

California Secretary of State: Damon Dunn - A serious man who has a background in the NFL -- He is a future Gubernatorial candidate.

Attorney General: With former Governor Jerry Brown leaving this position, who is best to reclaim it? The Valley endorses Steve Cooley -- a local Los Angeles figure, he has done good work for us. The Southland needs representation and he is the man to provide it.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction: This position is about dealing with kids and schools, who better then a teacher? The Valley endorses Lydia Gutierrez for the primary and November.

Please vote for these great men and women on June 8th!

Next week: Senate Race Endorsement.

My question: Who do you support for these positions for the June 8th primaries?

Invite to Governor Palin to meet the LACRP and the SFVRC

Governor Palin,

Do you remember this email I sent last week?

"We have many good GOP candidates (and good county officials, Jane Barnett and Gary Aminoff); will the Governor help put Los Angeles candidates on the map?"

Thank you for responding to that earlier email asking you to start endorsing some candidates before the June 8th Primary; However, in your loyalty to your former running mate (Fine in AZ, but doesn't carry in CA), you forgot your public.

Before you endorse any candidates in the Southland (where I am trying to bring publicity + funds via local funds and the Blogosphere; Speak to Robert Stacy McCain for more info), please fly in to Burbank Airport and I will drive you around. I will introduce you to two people who are making Los Angeles a place to fight, Jane Barnett and Gary Aminoff. Speak to them before you start endorsing in the Southland.

The Los Angeles County meeting is next Thursday, I'll be there, and I hope you will too. Come to Los Angeles and meet our candidates. You will be very impressed. My endorsements for the State offices will show up on the Blog every Friday, but please do not hesitate to email me before you arrive. Your staff has the same privileges as well.

Let's win in 2010! And I support you in 2012.

The Valley Endorses Steve Poizner for Governor of California

This is going to part of a continuing series leading to June 8th, Primary day in California. This post is for the Governor's race; the next Endorsement post will be for the US Senate; There will be a post endorsing one Republican per Congressional seat, and repeated in the State Senate and State assembly seats. OK, all ready?

Let the party begin!

Even before Meg Whitman began to run, I heard some bad stories of eBay through one of my friends whose business depends on it.

Then, I took my trip down to San Diego and Poizner answered my question and then asked for my vote. Twice.

In Los Angeles, Steve Poizner showed up to two meetings I went to, the SFVRC and the LAGOP. Again, he asked for my vote. A Whitman partisan fired some hard questions at Poizner and he volleyed them back. With a smile. All the Whitman partisan managed at the SFVRC was to anger those who would have been interested in voting for Whitman. Whitman hasn't shown up at the SFVRC and answer the hard questions.

This is politics, not acting -- the only way you win in elections (especially in primaries) is asking the active partisans to vote for you and answering their hard questions. The current Governor has never shown up at a LAGOP or SFVRC meeting before elections (or during). His name can be found on IMDB, thus he was known before he ran. If Meg Whitman is trying the same strategy, it will not work.

Hint to all Whitman partisans: She cannot run TV ads without coming to the meetings and answering questions from the active partisans. This is known as "vetting," and the current Governor did not do that. Poizner is doing the hard work.

And if Whitman wins, she will lose against Brown. Why? Brown, unlike Whitman, knows to ask for votes and take hard questions. And if Poizner wins the primary, I wonder, will Whitman campaign for Poizner?

She hasn't shown up at any meetings to answer these questions. Also, at any meeting in the Los Angeles area, you can find Poizner's people ready to answer questions. Not one Whitman partisan has asked for help, support or our votes.

So, because Steve Poizner knows how to do the hard work of getting elected (and he has run statewide before), the Valley endorses Steve Poizner for Governor.
