Visiting government buildings
While government offices and official premises are not normally open to the general public, open house events are held from time to time.
Open house event at the House of the Estates on Friday 12 June
There will be an opportunity to visit the historic House of the Estates on Friday 12 June 2026 at 9.00–18.00. On that day, the House of the Estates will open its doors to the public for the first time since its major renovation in 2023–2025.
Government officials from the Prime Minister’s Office will offer guided tours of the building. Please note that visitors will have to follow the instructions given by the staff and should be prepared for security checks and long queues.
The House of the Estates will be open to the public on Friday 12 June 2026 at 9.00–18.00.
The tour starts at the main entrance to the House of the Estates at Snellmaninkatu 9–11 and ends at the same place.
Visitors who are in the queue by 18.00 will be allowed to enter the building.
No, all visits to the House of the Estates are led by a guide.
Guided tours will be available in Finnish and Swedish. Tours in Finnish will leave from the starting point around once every 10–15 minutes, Swedish tours around once an hour. The tour takes about half an hour.
There will be one tour of the House of the Estates with audio description at 14.00. The audio description will be provided in Finnish. Please note that you must register for this tour in advance. The tour with audio description will take about 60 minutes.
The House of the Estates is not an entirely accessible building, but staff will be available to help visitors if necessary. You can register for an accessible tour in advance if you wish. You can also come to the event without registering in advance, but in this case you should be prepared for a longer queue.
Advance registration is not required for guided tours in Finnish or Swedish. You must register in advance for the tour with audio description. You can register in advance for an accessible tour if you wish.
You should arrive for the tour with minimal belongings. This will also speed up the security checks, because large bags and other items will be taken into safekeeping and will be handed back against a deposit at the end of the tour.
Taking photos during the tour is allowed, but please be mindful of other visitors. Your guide will provide more detailed instructions on taking photos during the tour. An official photographer will be on site during the event, and these photos may be used in government communications.
Only the House of the Estates will be open to the public on 12 June.
The toilet facilities at the House of the Estates are not open to the public. The staff will provide more information if necessary.

Previous open house events at government premises
Most recently, the Government Palace opened its doors to the public in September 2025. Around 1,900 people visited the palace that day. The Government Palace was previously open to the public in 2022. At that time, visitors could also take a tour of the House of the Estates.
