Blogging with Zemanta

I’ve downloaded Zemanta and begun using it with my blogs and other things.

It works with the open source Mozilla Firefox browsers, not with Microsoft‘s Internet Explorer, so those little “REBLOG” buttons seen on my posts won’t work if you

  • are using the IE browser, and
  • don’t have Zemanta installed.

Zemanta pops up illustrations relating to my text content automatically — it automatically searches the internet for what it “thinks” are appropriate as I type — and I can select any of them to add to my posts. It also gives me the option to create hyperlinks to keywords within the post itself, as you can see here with “Zemanta”, “open source” . . . .

Well, my job is principal librarian metadata specialist so what would you expect me to be experimenting with? The semantic web is getting closer by the month now.

WordPress needs to make a few improvements, though, to make it easier to edit pics within specific page positions — WordPress, are you listening?
