Cruel Irony

So in my my last post I listed my top 5 dislikes.  Number 3 being car problems.  I should know better, because the NEXT day I find out my car needs a new computer.  Awesome.

At least this came in the mail today!  I guess I'll call it the silver lining, even if it only makes a small dent in the repair cost :)

Tagged!

I was "tagged" by my cute SIL Lauren.  Let's just say it made my day because I'm pretty sure I am the only person on planet Earth that didn't get tagged in that whole "tell us 5 things no one knows about you" tag on instagram.  Anyways... here it goes:

Tag 3 people:
Ashley hasn't blogged since she had her adorable baby 2 months ago and I'm going through withdraws.

I'm double tagging my mom so maybe she'll actually respond :)

And my awesome sister Nicki.  If you don't already stalk her blog, you should.  She's seriously hilarious and you will hate her all summer as you follow along with her hiking through the Alps.

5 Likes and 5 Dislikes:
Likes:
1- Reading
2- Bubble baths
3- Crafting (especially sewing)
4- Volleyball
5- Watching my cute kids play outside

Dislikes:
1- Gum smacking
2- Bad drivers
3- Car problems
4- Bad weather
5- Stress

If you were a color, what would you be and why?
My favorite colors are gray and black, but that makes me sound a little boring/dark.  Maybe green?

What's your dream vacation?
Definitely Europe, we would hit London, Italy, Germany, and Greece.  More realistically, we want Washington DC or Boston to be our next trip.

What do you do to relax?
Read a book, take a bath, watch a movie, craft.

Do you have a coping mechanism for stress?  What is it?
I can't think of something specific but being alone is usually helpful, maybe turning the radio up loud in the car and going for a drive by myself.

If you had a day to yourself what would you do?
Go to the grocery store!  Ha ha, I HATE taking the kids shopping!!!.

Late night thoughts/ramblings...

Sometimes when I am bored I search for apartments on Craigslist.  I have no intention of EVER moving, but I think I just get stir crazy and I search apartments in NYC.  Today I searched Boston too.  Maybe we can just get a vacation home there :)

Sometimes I really want a job.  Not a career, but a job.  Just something easy and mindless like I want to just be a cashier or go back to the bank.  But I only want to do it when my kids are in bed so I'm not ever missing their waking hours or anything, and I don't want them in daycare, I just want the adult interaction, and to feel like I'm contributing to our family income at least a little bit.  I'm sure it'll never actually happen, because let's be honest, I really don't want to work, ha ha.  Being a mom is work enough :)

Danny is almost finished with is first of 6 semesters.  It feels like it's gone pretty quick, but also pretty slow.  I've seen him about 1.5 hours in the past 3 days.  How do single moms do it?!  I'm super lucky to have such great/helpful/supportive parents that live 1.1 miles from my house.  (Yes, I mapquested it).  Tonight my mom babysat for 2 hours, then made us all dinner, and let me join them to watch our weekly Survivor.  I need to find a hobby, or actually do the ones I have.

Did you know channel 14 plays Friends from 9-10 PM and The Office (the old good ones) from 10-11 PM?  It's kept me entertained a lot lately.  If only they played Modern Family my life would be complete!

My kitchen is still 1/2 painted.  1/2 gray, 1/2 maroon.  Maybe I'll get the motivation to finish this weekend.  That vaulted wall has me stuck, literally...

It must be past my bedtime...

Easter

It was such a crazy weekend, but so fun!  We decided that the Easter Bunny is going to come to our house on Saturdays because we want to focus Sunday on Christ and not the Easter Bunny.  So Saturday morning started with Easter baskets.

I tried to avoid candy because they get PLENTY of that elsewhere :)
WE spent the afternoon at Danny's parents' house.  We colored eggs, enjoyed the sunshine, had an Easter egg hunt, and had our first BBQ of the season.

After Church I tried to snap a few pictures of the kids in their Easter outfits, but it was pretty hard to get Will to hold still and almost impossible to get a good picture of BOTH of them!  But here's what we got.

My parents took my grandma to California for her 80th birthday (the same day as Caydence's) so the kids were left to put together Easter dinner.  We hosted and were so lucky to have ALL of my siblings and spouses and kids!  It was so great!

Caydence's 5th birthday

I know it is totally cliche but I'm still going to say it:  I CAN'T believe she's 5!!!!!  Seriously, where does the time go!?

Danny took Thursday-Monday off so we did all of our "chores" on Thursday so we could play all day on Friday (her birthday).

After staying up all night baking her cake, I started the day at 6:30 AM doing Paige's hair for Jr. High cheer tryouts.  I LOVE doing hair for someone who will actually sit still and not cry!!

PS, she made it,and I'm pretty sure it was because of the hair :)  I'm so excited for her!

Then I came home in time for Caydence to have birthday breakfast and open her morning gift.
Then we went to Get Air, a huge indoor trampoline park, and let the kids jump for a while.

Then she picked dinner at Winger's.
And of course she needed a princess dress to open her presents in.
My family and Danny's parents were so nice to come and celebrate with us.

Merida from brave from my parents.
She has been begging for a Tianna dress, but the Disney dress up is sleeveless!!  So I found this knock-off on Amazon and thought it looked similar :)
My parents and I split this new leap pad to give to her and she is ATTACHED to it.  I can't believe how fast kids can figure out electronics!
She begged for a Tianna cake (which is funny because she's never seen the movie) but she met her at Disneyland and is now in love with her.
The week before her birthday we celebrated with Danny's family and I snapped a few pictures.
I found this cake on pinterest that I wanted to copy but it didn't work exactly as planned, but I really liked the ombre look :)

A few things about Caydence at 5:
  • She is so social!  She meets new friends everywhere we go and acts as if she has known them for years!  She loves to be with other kids all the time!
  • She is taking Dance and Tumbling and just can't get enough.  She is working on her cartwheel and handstand and always flipping all over the place.
  • Caydence wants to be completely independent.  She wants to do everything by herself!  EVERYTHING!
  • She is doing so great in preschool and learning so much!
  • She is (Mostly) a joy to have around and we just love her!

Caydence's 2nd haircut

I've grown so tired of the nasty ends of Caydence's hair so one morning while trying to brush through the tears I just took a pair of scissors and chopped it.  It ended up being a good 10 inches or so.

Ouch

So it's been 2 weeks now since I rolled my foot on Caydence's toy.  I knew it was going to happen and I did nothing.  I was running up and down the stairs emptying my Costco groceries from my trunk. And then it happened.  I completely twisted my foot and I was sure that I broke my ankle.  I am so lucky that my mom dropped everything and came to my rescue!  She is so great.  I literally couldn't walk for the first day I was in so much pain.  It was such a stupid little thing!  I am still so upset about it.  It threw off my exercise routine that I was committed to.  And it just plain hurts!  I finally went to the doctor and he said it's not broken, but I sprained it and tore the major muscle running down the side of my foot.

Disclaimer:  Feet are gross, but I had to document it.  This was as it was actually starting to look better.
