OKAY LISTEN UP! If you have ever played Undertale or seen someone play Undertale then you guys need to hop on this now! This isn’t going to be a long post about the game, that’ll come later. This is just to let you all know it’s a thing and you should go play it.
Chapter One is the only thing that’s been released now as a Halloween holiday treat, it was literally released yesterday. Toby Fox the creator asked for a period of 24hrs silence on the matter, so respectively I will not be discussing what I experienced in the game, however, I will mention the fact that this game was AMAZING. AND that it was only the first chapter.
Can’t wait to see more of this and see how it all ties in. Here’s the link to it, it’s completely free right now so go play the first chapter!
It’s coming! The end is nigh! We’re all gonna die! But seriously though, Five Night’s at Freddy’s 4 is in fact confirmed. Now despite the title of the game, whether or not this is the actual last game or not remains to be seen. Let’s be real anything is possible with this franchise. FNAF 4 will be released this Halloween.
Now, there is a lot of speculation about what this game is gonna be about but we’ll get to that in a bit. First, let’s address what we know. First, what in the name of all that is holy is coming out of Freddy’s stomach! If I’m right, I believe that those are mini animatronic Freddy’s. LIKE ONE WASN’T ENOUGH! Freddy and Golden Freddy were bad enough but now we have these little hellspawn abominations to deal with! *shudders* Also, NIGHTMARE is clearly written there behind The Final Chapter. Not comforting at all.
Secondly, we have this picture of Scott’s HTML. Obviously the numbers 8 and 7 are used a lot in this. Now, to anyone who knows the story of FNAF knows that 87 is an important number. This can’t be a coincidence in sequencing or anything because they repeat enough and Scott is known for hiding things in his coding.
And if you google Cawthon’s page you get…
Now, for those who don’t know or if you forgot, 87 refers to the Bite of ’87. The bite of ’87 is an incident that is referenced in all three of the games. “The Bite of ‘87 was an incident that occurred in 1987 at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza; it is briefly mentioned by the Phone Guy in the first game. The details of this attack (and the identity of the animatronic responsible) are not given, but it allegedly caused the loss of the frontal lobe of the victim’s brain.
The incident contributed to a loss in the restaurant’s reputation, which resulted in a major drop in business. However, the restaurant would have closed down either way because of the conditions of the restaurant and the many health violations. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 suggests that the attack occurs during the day after the game’s Night 6 (when Jeremy Fitzgerald is asked to work the day shift and to stay close to the animatronics).
As a result of the incident, the animatronics were no longer allowed to wander around the building during the day; the management decided to limit their free-roaming mode to night-only so as to “prevent their servos from locking up,” as stated by Phone Guy.” (Kotaku.com) Now because of this many assume that this is going to be a prequel game and that this game takes place in 1987 and explores the incident in depth.
There is a theory floating around out there that this is all just a nightmare that the kid or person who suffered the bite of ’87 is having as a result of that incident. There’s also theory that it’s Jeremy the night guard who is having PTSD from the job or that he was the kids who suffered the bite of ’87. Now these are all just theories and nothing is for certain.
All that we know is that we’re going to lose out minds with this one and more than likely Markiplier is going to burst into tears and have a screaming fest.
“In a brief statement, Konami said development on the game had ceased. “Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued,” Konami said. Earlier today Konami said it would continue to develop games in the Silent Hill series.
There’s also reference to an image of Norman Reedus which supposedly disappeared from the official Silent Hills website. But as far as we can tell the image of the actor is still up. Perhaps it will be removed later today. Konami said it had removed the image of Reedus “because our contract period with him has expired”.
It’s pulling P.T. (playable teaser) from PlayStation Network “because the distribution period has expired”. This was a trial edition of Silent Hills, Konami said, intended to give players an idea of the game’s concept. While Silent Hills has been cancelled, then, but Konami promised to “continue to develop” the horror series.
According to photo journalist Matt Hackney on Twitter, del Toro made the revelation at a San Fransisco Film Society event last night. The director reportedly said during a Q&A about Silent Hills, “It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.” Since there hasn’t been any publicly released audio of this we’d normally classify it as a rumour, but then Norman Reedus confirmed the project being dead in the water on Twitter. “Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it’ll come back around. Sorry everyone,” Reedus wrote in a tweet linking to an article on Fansided about del Toro’s quote.” (eurogamer.net)
*Sigh* We all sort of knew this was coming but it still sucks. This game is now officially dead before it even made it out the door. From what I’ve gathered this game isn’t going to be coming back either. You know how sometimes a game will be canceled and then picked back up again at a later time, yeah that’s not gonna happen here. The series will go on but this game is just dead.
I was really intrigued by this game and thought it looked like it could be the best one so far in the Silent Hill series. Also, it had Norman Reedus! I’m really hoping that they use Norman again because he’d be great in something like this and his character looked amazing.
I don’t know about you all but my gamer heart is broken right now.
“The “playable teaser” for Konami’s upcoming horror game Silent Hills will be delisted from Sony’s online marketplace in just four days. The publisher posted a notice on the game’s official website, announcing that come April 29, the “distribution period of ‘P.T. (Playable Teaser)’ on PlayStation Store will expire.
Ever since Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima’s position over at Konami was first called into question, the future of Silent Hills, which Kojima was set to work on with Guillermo del Toro, has looked shaky at best. Konami has yet to provide a formal update on the status of Silent Hills, but if the removal of P.T. from the PlayStation Store is any indication, the next entry in the long-running horror franchise could be a bit further off than fans had originally hoped.” (ign.com)
I am so sad about this! I was really looking forward to this game. I’m hoping that it’ll still come out because this is a really good horror series and it’s got Norman Reedus! Granted it won’t be the same without Kojima but I really don’t want the game to just die. Hopefully these people get their crap together because it’s not fair to the gaming community to give us a P.T. and then to pull it and put the game into jeopardy.
Anyways, that’s just a short little update that I thought you guys might be interested in reading about. I know it’s been a few days since I’ve updated and I apologize for that. It’s the last few weeks of school, finals week is upon us, and the Wi-Fi has been crashing every couple of hours over the last several days. So please bare with me here.
Last week we had a guest speaker come to class and she spoke to us about a group called Run Now Relay. After the Boston bombing happened in 2014, 26 runners ran from Cleveland Tennessee all the way up to Boston Massachusetts to deliver money to a charity. It took 8 days to cross 1,000 miles and 72 cities, but along the way they raised $50,000 more to donate through the use of social media.
Now, this got me thinking. There’s a race or event for everything. EVERYTHING. Surely there had to be some geek races or events out there to raise money for charity right? So, I did my research and I am very happy to say that I found some. This post will be about different charity events, races, and people who make difference using our geek language.
(Links to all of the charities will be provided below. Also, these are just four geek charity events. They are not the only geek charity events, there are plenty more out there.)
Course of the Force
“Course of the Force is a Star Wars themed relay race founded in 2012, is a partnership between Lucasfilm, Nerdist Industries, Machinima and Octagon (Sports Agency). The partnership’s primary event is an Olympic-style lightsaber relay along the California coast. The relay, held July 7–11, 2012 (the days leading up to the San Diego Comic Con), is a charity event to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Nerdist Industries founder Chris Hardwick will host the event, with broadcasts on the Nerdist YouTube channel. Machinma has announced it will produce Course of the Force content for its network as well. Running spots are available to the general public. The cost to sign up is $500. A limited edition Star Wars Ultimate FX lightsaber has been announced for the participants.
Participants will travel from Santa Monica to San Diego in quarter-mile increments, handing off a lightsaber to the next runner. 100% of registration proceeds from Course of the Force benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation chapters of Greater Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire, and San Diego” (Wiki)
Red Nose Day
“Since its launch in 1988, Red Nose Day has become something of a British institution. It’s the day, every two years, when people across the land can get together and do something funny for money at home, school and work. There’s a fantastic night of TV on the BBC, with comedy and entertainment, like special TV minisodes of shows like Doctor Who and Downtown Abbey, to inspire the nation to give generously. Comic Relief spends the money raised by Red Nose Day to help people living tough lives across the UK and Africa.
Comic Relief-inspired events have spread across the globe, licensed and run by people that share a similar vision of ‘A Just World Free from Poverty’. From Iceland to South Africa, events based on Red Nose Day and Sport Relief have popped up all over the place. Red Nose Day is coming to America May 21st, 2015.” (comicrelief.com)
Child’s Play
“Child’s Play seeks to improve the lives of children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters through the generosity and kindness of the video game industry and the power of play.
Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.
Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital’s wish list and send a gift.
Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.
Our hospital network program provides an Amazon.com wishlist (to which facilities can make requests) and an annual gift of games, consoles, and other age-appropriate entertainment gifts for kids. These gifts provide vital distraction, engagement, socialization, and positive play opportunities for hospitalized children around the world.” (childsplaycharity.org)
Cloud City Garrison
“Cloud City Garrison is a chapter of The 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, a Star Wars Imperial costuming club. The 501st is dedicated to the movie-quality costumes of the “villains” of the Star Wars universe. Cloud City Garrison covers all of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
In addition to providing a network for fans to meet, CCG is committed to the community. We offer support at charity events, fund raisers, and social functions by appearing as film-authentic Star Wars characters. While there is no cost to engage our services, we encourage donations to charity on our behalf instead.” (cloudcitygarrison.com)
They put in so much time and effort between walk-a-thons, blood drives, spending afternoons with special needs children, and so much more. They don’t accept payment for showing up, they only ask that you give to one of the charities that they support.
Here’s a list of the charities that they are heavily involved in:
Make-A-Wish Oregon
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation
Special Olympics
The Salvation Army’s Bell Ringing program
Toys for Tots
Children’s Miracle Network
It really makes me happy to see both big and small groups of geeks raising money and making a difference in the world around them. As I said, the links to all these charities are below and I encourage you to check them out if you feel so inclined to. That’s all I have for now, but I hope you guys have a wonderful day!
Hey guys it’s Friday which means more fanart! I hope you guys have had a good week, I know mine has been a bit stressful but it’s Friday! The weekend is here! So, without further adieu I give you Fanart Friday: YouTuber Gamers! (Probably gonna be a lot of Markiplier and Jacksepticeye because they’re our favorites)
Collabs
Markiplier

Well, that’s it for this Fanart Friday. I hope you enjoyed it and if you want leave us some suggestions for future themes or something that you would like to see. Have a great Friday everybody!
“Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s” (thehollywoodreporter.com)
You hear that everyone! Five Night’s at Freddy’s is going to be made into a film! “The feature adaptation will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment as well as Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions.” (thehollywoodreporter.com) Now for those who haven’t played or seen someone play Five Nights at Freddy’s go look at one of our previous posts; in short this is a creepy, dark and twisted Chuck-E-Cheese style game.
““We’re looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie,” said Grahame-Smith. “The story really lends itself to being a movie, and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to,” said Cawthon.Lee was a producer on Warners’ Liam Neeson action thriller Run All Night and has the Poltergeist remake due to open May 22. Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg, meanwhile, are developing a Beetlejuice sequel.” (thehollywoodreport.com)
Now, this is either going to go really really well or really really badly. It’s either going to be an amazing film or it’s going to tank. We’ve all seen some fairly decent video game based films like Resident Evil (the first one), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed. And we’ve seen some really bad ones like Prince of Persia and Max Payne. Then there’s the ones who have the games who can’t stop making films and are either hit or miss: Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and Street Fighter.
Hopefully, it goes really well. I’m holding out hope that it will be a really good film. I’m also really hoping that Mark Fischbach, aka Markiplier, is going to be in it. Let’s be real he is the face of this game. He’s the most well known gamer who has played this game. (You can find the first video of the first game down below)
Now, currently there’s no set date for the film to come out, no cast, or anything like that. So it’s safe to assume that it’ll be a couple of years until the film comes out. We’ll see what comes next!
Anyways, that’s all that we have time for today. Have a great day guys!
“Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. But when humanity’s greatest hero goes missing, a new Spartan is tasked with hunting the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy.” (halowaypoint.com)
For those of you who don’t know what Halo is, “Halo 5: Guardians is an upcoming first-person shooter video game. Part of the Halo franchise, the game is being developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft Studios. Serving as the sequel to Halo 4, the game is scheduled to be released on October 27, 2015.” (Wiki) The expected release date is October 25th, 2015.
There are two sides to every story and Hunt the Truth are the two main tag lines for the upcoming game. These will become important once you see the trailers below. As you saw in the trailer above, the Arbiter is back but to what extent or importance he plays in this game has yet to be revealed. The story, from what I’ve gathered, focuses on Locke and Master Chief. Now, I was not able to find the original trailer for the above video but all but a few seconds was cut out. In those few seconds though it was established that Master Chief went AWOL and Locke was sent to retrieve him and bring him back to UNSC. Whether or not these two are friends or not has yet to be determined.
Now, the link below to another trailer, but this is a special trailer. It’s an interactive one, and what that means is you can slow it down as it’s happening. What you should do is watch it once, then go back and do the drag motion with your mouse at the bottom and go frame by frame. When you do that you can see a series of words on the bullet which I’ll list below the video if you weren’t able to catch them or if you just didn’t feel like putting the effort into it.
The words on the bullet were: Son, Abductee, Victim, Orphan, Recruit, Soldier, Warrior, Ally, Hero, Savior, Traitor. Now, the importance of these words. All these words pertain to Master Chief. We know from the fourth game that children were abducted and experimented on and made into the fighting machines we know as Spartans. So that’s abductee, victim, recruit, and soldier. Obviously he’s someone’s son. Warrior is a given because we’ve played as Master Chief in four games, the guys a big deal. We also know he’s ally to the Arbiter. Hero for all that he’s done and Savior for saving them. All we don’t really know is… traitor.
For those of you who don’t know, Jameson Locke is actually in the HALO: Nightfall which is a TV series. Locke is played by actor Mike Colter who has been in a number of films including SALT, Zero Dark Thirty, The Good Wife, and Men in Black 3. So, what they’ve done is taken him from the TV series and made him an actual playable character in the new game.
Now, I don’t know about you guys but I can only thing of one reason why Master Chief would go AWOL, and this trailer helps support my theory. The only reason he’d go AWOL is if he found a way, or even a possibility of a way, to get Cortana back. I am ALL FOR getting Cortana back. Let’s be real guys, Master Chief and Cortana were a couple despite her being a computer program. He’ll stop at nothing to get her back.
I don’t know about you all but I am SO EXCITED for this game! My dad and I have followed the HALO series from the beginning. We started all the way back in HALO on the Xbox (the original, clunky, non-cordless xbox) and have followed it all the way up to this point. We have HALO: Combat Evolved, HALO 2, HALO 3, HALO Wars, HALO 3: ODST, HALO Reach, and HALO 4. Now, we don’t have HALO: Sparta Assault or the Master Chief Collection but that’s because we don’t have an Xbox One (yet, we’re working on it). We even have the film HALO: Forward Unto Dawn and waiting to get our hands on HALO: Nightfall.
This video is titled: The Cost
And this video is called: All Hail
I don’t know what to think! I get now why the tag line is “Hunt the Truth” and “There are Two Sides to Every Story”. Honestly though, I’m gonna side with Master Chief until it’s proven otherwise that he’s guilty of something, and even then I may still end up siding with him. Anyways, I’m super excited for this game and can’t wait to get my hands on it. What do you guys think of it? What do you think of Locke?
For today’s post were gonna talk about cosplay. Now, this isn’t going to be a tutorial for anything specific, but rather a general overall description of what cosplay is and what not. This is sort of like an introduction to the cosplaying world.
“Cosplay, a combination of the words costume play, is a performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture centered on role play and a broader use of the term “cosplay” applies to any costumed role play in venues apart from the stage. Any entity that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject and it is not unusual to see genders switched. Favorite sources are manga and anime, comic books and cartoons, video games, and live-action films.” (Wiki)
Howl from Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle
“The rapid growth in the number of people cosplaying as a hobby since 1990 has made the phenomenon a significant aspect of popular culture in Japan and some other parts of Asia and in the Western world. Cosplay events are common features of fan conventions and there are also dedicated conventions and local and international competitions, as well as social networks, websites and other forms of media centered on cosplay activities.” (Wiki)
Princess Peach, Yoshi, and crew from the Mario world
In the West we call the most common event for cosplayers to show up at are Comic-Con’s. These are conventions where members of cast and crew from films, shows, anime’s, and video games come to meet fans and hold panels where they can answer questions and talk about their experiences. You can get autographs from your favorite comic book creator or actor. Vendors come and sell things from a wide array of geeky wonder, and there is always a wide variety of cosplayers. Many people who attend Comic-Con cosplay for the three sometimes four day event.
“Cosplay costumes vary greatly and can range from simple themed clothing to highly detailed costumes. It is generally considered different from Halloween and Mardi Gras costume wear, as the intention is to replicate a specific character, rather than to reflect the culture and symbolism of a holiday event. As such, when in costume, some cosplayers often seek to adopt the affect, mannerisms, and body language of the characters they portray (with “out of character” breaks). The characters chosen to be cosplayed may be sourced from any movie, TV series, book, comic book, video game, or music band anime and manga characters. Some cosplayers even choose to cosplay an original character of their own design or a fusion of different genres i.e. a steampunk version of a character.” (Wiki)
Steampunk version of Ariel from Disney’s Little Mermaid
“Cosplayers obtain their apparel through many different methods. Manufacturers produce and sell packaged outfits for use in cosplay, in a variety of qualities. These costumes are often sold online, but also can be purchased from dealers at conventions. A number of individuals also work on commission, creating custom costumes, props, or wigs designed and fitted to the individual; some social-networking sites for cosplay have classified ad sections where such services are advertised. Other cosplayers, who prefer to create their own costumes, still provide a market for individual elements, accessories, and various raw materials, such as unstyled wigs or extensions, hair dye, cloth and sewing notions, liquid latex, body paint, shoes, costume jewelry, and prop weapons.” (Wiki)
Young Mystique from X-Men
Most cosplayers create their own outfits, referencing images of the characters in the process. In the creation of the outfits, much time is given to detail and qualities, thus the skill of a cosplayer may be measured by how difficult the details of the outfit are and how well they have been replicated. Because of the difficulty of replicating some details and materials, cosplayers often educate themselves in crafting specialties such as textiles, sculpture, face paint, fiberglass, fashion design, woodworking, and other uses of materials in the effort to render the look and texture of a costume accurately.
Shiek from The Legend of Zelda
“Cosplayers often wear wigs in conjunction with their outfit to further improve the resemblance to the character. This is especially necessary for anime and manga or video-game characters who often have unnaturally coloured and uniquely styled hair. Simpler outfits may be compensated for their lack of complexity by paying attention to material choice and overall high quality. To look more like the characters they are portraying, many cosplayers also engage in various forms of body modification. Contact lenses that match the color of their characters’ eyes are a common form of this, especially in the case of characters with particularly unique eyes as part of their trademark look. Contact lenses that make the pupil look enlarged to visually echo the large eyes of anime and manga characters are also used.” (Wiki)
Riddick from Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick
“Another form of body modification in which cosplayers engage is to copy any tattoos or special markings their character might have. Temporary tattoos, permanent marker, body paint, and in rare cases, permanent tattoos, are all methods used by cosplayers to achieve the desired look. Permanent and temporary hair dye, spray-in hair coloring, and specialized extreme styling products are all used by some cosplayers whose natural hair can achieve the desired hairstyle. It is also commonplace for them to shave off their eyebrows to gain a more accurate look.” (Wiki)
Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland
“Some anime and video game characters have weapons or other accessories that are hard to replicate, and conventions have strict rules regarding those weapons, but most cosplayers engage in some combination of methods to obtain all the items necessary for their costumes; for example, they may commission a prop weapon, sew their own clothing, buy character jewelry from a cosplay accessory manufacturer, or buy a pair of off-the-rack shoes, and modify them to match the desired look.” (Wiki)
Gladiator style Wonder Woman from DC comics
“The most popular form of presenting a cosplay publicly is by wearing it to a fan convention. Multiple conventions dedicated to anime and manga, comics, TV shows, video games, science fiction, and fantasy may be found all around the world. Cosplay-centered conventions include Cosplay Mania in the Philippines and EOY Cosplay Festival in Singapore.” (Wiki)
Shanks from One Piece
“The single largest event featuring cosplay is the semiannual doujinshi market, Comic Market (Comiket), held in Japan during summer and winter. Comiket attracts hundreds of thousands of manga and anime fans, where thousands of cosplayers congregate on the roof of the exhibition center. In North America, the highest-attended fan conventions featuring cosplayers are the San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con held in the United States, and the anime-specific Anime North in Toronto and Anime Expo held in Los Angeles. Europe’s largest event is Japan Expo held in Paris, while the London MCM Expo and the London Super Comic Convention are the most notable in the UK. Supanova Pop Culture Expo is Australia’s biggest event.” (Wiki)
An Assassin’s Creed Hellequin
Cosplay competitions and conventions also draw in photographers. These photographers, however, are not allowed to take pictures of cosplayers without their permission and have to stop when told to. Photographers are not allowed to badger cosplayers for personal information, contact info, or follow them around or outside of the convention. Cosplayers may pose however they wish for photographers and do not have to do anything they are not comfortable with.
Vanille from Final Fantasy XIII
“As the popularity of cosplay has grown, many conventions have come to feature a contest surrounding cosplay that may be the main feature of the convention. Contestants present their cosplay, and often to be judged for an award, the cosplay must be self-made. The contestants may choose to perform a skit, which may consist of a short performed script or dance with optional accompanying audio, video, or images shown on a screen overhead. Other contestants may simply choose to pose as their characters. Often, contestants are briefly interviewed on stage by a master of ceremonies. The audience is given a chance to take photos of the cosplayers. Cosplayers may compete solo or in a group. Awards are presented, and these awards may vary greatly. Generally, a best cosplayer award, a best group award, and runner-up prizes are given. Awards may also go to the best skit and a number of cosplay skill subcategories, such as master tailor, master weapon-maker, master armourer, and so forth.”
Mononoke from Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke
Cosplay is a fun thing that brings geeks together so that they can share their passions and fangirl over all the amazing costumes. People do it because they enjoy it, yes the awards, prizes, and photographs are a nice bonus, but these beautiful costumes wouldn’t look as good as they do if the people creating them weren’t passionate about their subject.
I hope you enjoyed this intro to cosplay and if you’d like to see more cosplay’s in the future just let me know in the comments. Have a wonderful Saturday!
(Info came from Wikipedia and pictures came from Pinterest)
