ColourQ135 & Retro Sketches 9

DSCF0469

Happy Tuesday, happy  May Day!  I combined the ColourQ colors today:

cqc135

with the Retro Sketches sketch 9:

for my creation this week:

CQC135-LeAnne

One of my customers just ordered this Fashionable Hearts embosslit, and that got me thinking that it would be a good choice for these fun colors!  I also used the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit and the heart Adorning Accents embossing folder!  In fact, there’s a lot more embossing on here than there is stamping!  The only stamping is the sentiment from Trendy Trees and the heart from Itty Bitty Bits.  Some Early Espresso baker’s twine “ties” it all together, and a little Sharpie-colored rhinestone adds a little bling:

The ColourQ courtiers have such a fun bunch of samples, you need to check them all out at the ColourQ blog!  I hope you’ll play along with us too! Can’t wait to see what you create!

Cassidy cornered Grampy sitting in the doorway while she was showing him some of her new toys…..the opportunity was just too inviting, so she got a book and said “sit” and she sat in his lap!

SRC120 & TKT60

DSCF0355
One of my husband’s customers gave him a unique book/cookbook that he wrote himself after a trip out west.  It follows the travels of two fox statues, frieda and Freddie (that’s how he spells them!) and he dresses them up in western wear  and poses them and takes photos of them along the way.  The recipes are for meals like “Fart and Dart Beans” (I am not making this up!), Buffalo Jerky and Boy in a Bag (which is like plum pudding).  The foxes meet characters like Clara the Chipmunk and Clyde the Coyote; highlights include museums, monuments and famous places like the Hole in the Wall Cabin where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid frequented, the Buffalo Bill Museum, and Bullwinkle’s Saloon.  I haven’t had a chance to read it all the way through, but what I’ve read so far is pretty funny!  All this to say, I used the Stamping Royalty sketch #120 from this week to make him a thank you card!  Here’s the sketch:
and here is my card:

This uses three sets that will be retiring May 31:  Trendy Trees (sentiment); Out West, and Medallion.  The DP is Well Worn, and I used the Square Lattice EF for my horizontal panel.  Any questions, shoot me an email!  Oops, I forgot, this is also for The Spotted Chick's "That's Krafty Thursday", too!

ColourQ128, CCMC192

DSCF8026

Happy Tuesday to you!  It’s another ColourQ day!  Check out this cool geometric creation:

cqc128

I have to admit, although I love this pillow, and I love green, this challenge stumped me a bit!  I don’t normally send out St Patrick’s Day cards, but these greens just sent me in that direction!  So, I used the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary  for this week:

to create my CAS card:

CQC128-LeAnne

The card base is textured Very Vanilla, and my little leprechaun is from the Gift Givers set that was in the Holiday Mini….such a great versatile set, I am hoping they put it in the upcoming catalog!  I did some watercoloring (added some blue, hope that’s okay, Arielle!) and then popped him up:

DSCF8027

You can’t tell here, but his little gold coins were colored with a Zig Painty pen, so they are really gold!  I also added a stitched shamrock, using three hearts punched from the Triple Heart punch:

DSCF8028

I am just not too sure the shamrock style matches my leprehaun’s outline style, but it’s done and over!  But would it surprise you to know that I stamped another card before this one and I was not real happy it either?  Here we go:

DSCF8036

I think I would have preferred a white background….but it is good to step out of your creative box, right?  That’s it for today!  I hope you can come up with a creative way to use these colors and share them with us over at the ColourQ….and while you’re there, check out what the other designers have come up with as well!

Those creative girls over at Create with Connie & Mary have a lovely color challenge this week:

ccmc171

And this time, I got the colors right!

DSCF8837

Just a fun little scene (although I don’t do “scenes” very well) with Trendy Trees and Friendly Phrases…and the little bird again from Itty Bitty Bits!  I stamped the hills with A to Z; the clouds are made from the Scallop Punch; and the ribbons are Baja Breeze seam binding and Old Olive taffeta.  TFL!

Cassidy is beginning to say a few words, one of which is “blueberry”…..as you can see, she is quite fond of them:

The last one looks a bit gory, but trust me, it’s just blueberry juice!  LOL!

Wee Details:

  • Stamps:  Trendy Trees, Friendly Phrases, A to Z, Itty Bitty Bits
  • Paper:  VV, River Rock, Baja Breeze Patterns DP
  • Ink:  River Rock, Baja Breeze, Bravo Burgundy
  • Acc:  Scallop Punch, Seam Binding, Taffeta Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, Stamp-a-ma-Jig

CAS126 Funky Four

DSCF2303

Today’s CAS challenge at SCS is a sketch, which I really liked, but for some reason, my stamping skills were really challenged this morning!  I am giving up after this, cleaning up my desk and concentrating on getting ready for convention…and relaxing a bit!  Stamping is supposed to fun, not stressful!

I made a thank you card for a special someone:

DSCF2304

My stamp-a-ma-jig skills seemed to have left me today; everything is a little askew; hopefully my friend won’t mind!  I sure am loving this Tasteful Trims die….I will be using it again tomorrow for my CQC creation, so be sure to stop back!

ColourQ76 &SSC194

DSCF0025-1

Happy Tuesday—it’s ColourQ time again! Arielle has brought us a fresh spring palette today:

cqc76

I was lamenting the fact that my Trendy Trees stamp set was gathering dust and when I saw these colors, I knew I could remedy that:

CQC76-LeAnne

I began with the Stamping 411 sketch 194:

SSC194[3]

and the rest was pretty easy! I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure my tree trunks lined up with my leaves, as well as getting my sentiment from Word Play in just the right spot! I made some faux rickrack using my scallop border punch and “sewed” it with a paper piercer and white gel pen “stitches”! I am planning to use this as a masculine birthday card---I always need more of them!

Please be sure to check out the CQC blog to see what the other designers came up with using these seasonal colors!
