Doin’ Some Tags (Because I’m Quite Behind) ~ In Which I Do three Tags to Conserve Space (Yay! Space Conservation!)

So, ages ago (in April) both Liesl and Pearl tagged me for various blog tags. And I put them off because I got busy. But I thought, These tabs have been open in my browser for awhile to remind me to get to this, so I guess I’d better do ’em.

So here I am!

I will be doing the Never Have I Ever tag and the Sunshine Blogger Award (from Pearl) and the I’ll Get Around to It Later tag (from Liesl). I’m looking forward to this, so letsa go!

Sorry. I couldn’t resist the chaotic Mario GIFs hehe.

Alright, we’ll start with the

Like I said, Pearl tagged me for this one. This is one that I’ve seen floating around for awhile and I’ve wanted to do it. And now I finally get the chance!

Rules:

1. Link and thank the blogger who tagged you. ✔

2. Include the graphic somewhere in the post (or make your own!) ✔

3. Answer the questions truthfully and honestly. ✔ (Why wouldn’t I?)

4. Tag 3 bloggers. ✔

Never Have I Ever. . . .

Started a Novel I Didn’t Finish

I mean, I’ve been writing since I was five. I have notebooks upon notebooks and docs upon docs full of unfinished projects. I’m a spur-of-the-moment gal, and that results in a lot of decisions that I regret making and/or projects I just drop. I would go through and count all my unfinished novels and novellas, but that would take me ages and I’m probably missing a bunch. The total is probably around 20 or 30 by now, maybe more. 😅

Written a Story Completely By Hand

Well, besides all the picture books I wrote when I was younger, I’ve actually written a short story or two. I participated in a writing challenge on Zoom with several of my friends and I couldn’t do it near a computer so I was forced to write in a composition notebook. It was stressful because my writing speed is a lot faster on the computer (so long as I don’t get distracted 😅) and I was worried I would run out of time. Fortunately, I just barely made it!

Nine- or ten-year-old me also wrote a couple of Nancy Drew “fanfics”. There are probably others that I can’t remember right now.

OH! I almost forgot my two and a half book novella series that I poured my heart and soul into and then promptly lost the first book. I spent ages on it and I did a good bit of research for it too (which was rare for me back then hehe). I wish I knew where the first book is.

Changed Tenses Midway Through a Story

Actually, no. I mean, maybe I did in a sentence or two because I couldn’t figure out how to word it, but I’m pretty consistent with my tense. It really gets on my nerves when the tense just changes for no reason.

Not Researched Anything Before Starting a Story

Haha, if you guys could read my short story series about a college girl named Ginger, you would be able to tell that I knew absolutely nothing about college, school, romance, friendship, normal families, adoption, etc. when I wrote it. It’s a mess. I’m still really proud of it because it was my “big project” when I wrote it, but I was just a wee writer back then and apparently I didn’t know that research existed. I should rewrite it sometime. Maybe I could rewrite and post it here. That might be fun.

Changed My Protagonist’s Name Halfway Through a Draft

Yeah, in that chapter book series I mentioned earlier. The main character’s name was originally Kari Astrid, but then I changed it to Ella Astrid. Why? I dunno. Why not?

Nowadays, I get really attached to my character names (and literally everything else LOL), so I have to be careful with the “placeholder names” I choose because they usually end up not being placeholders heh. I feel like I’m betraying the character when I change their name, despite them not being real at all and probably not caring anyway. BUT THEY’RE REAL TO MEEE!!!

Written a Story in a Month or Less

What kind of story we talking? I’ve finished LOADS of short stories and picture books in, like, an hour. Or less. I’ve never done a whole novel in a month, despite attempting NaNoWriMo several times. Maybe one day.

Fallen Asleep While Writing

Uh. No? How does one even do this? I’ve written while exhausted but like. . . . I’ve never actually fallen asleep at my computer or even in my bed while writing by hand. (I mean, not until after I put the notebook away and snuggled under the covers.)

Corrected Someone’s Grammar IRL/Online

GUYS I HAVE A STORY

Okay, so when my grandfather died, my parents went with my grandmother to help arrange the funeral. I requested to go because IDK I thought it might be interesting. The lady that was helping us figure out all the details had only had one hour of sleep that night (after being out all night doing her job), so when she typed up the obituary, she brought it back to us so we could triple-check for typos. Of course, being the grammar Nazi I am, I just had to say something, and the lady suggested I go back to her office and fix everything that was wrong. I FELT SO MEAN!! But it was lowkey kind of fun getting to sit back in her office and type on her computer all by myself. She even trusted me enough to leave me unsupervised. I mean, I would never do anything suspicious, but I’m glad she trusted me enough for that. I’m proud to announce that there were no typos in that particular news article that day. 😁

Outside of that, the amount of your/you’re typos I’ve corrected jokingly is quite extreme.

Yelled in all-Caps at Myself in the Middle of My Novel

Not at myself, but I have screamed at the world in all-caps in the middle of writing a short story hehe.

Used “I’m Writing” as an Excuse

Only to my brother. And once to my mom when she needed me and I was in the middle of a sentence. Don’t interrupt me when I’m in the middle of a sentence. I don’t want to lose it (the sentence, not my sanity).

Killed a Character That Was Based on Someone I Know in Real LIfe

How about, not yet. 😏😈

There’s a lot of chaos in the plotting world right now hehe.

Used Pop Culture References in a Story

Yeah, but it’s usually some random obscure thing that only my siblings would get, like an inside joke from a YouTube channel or TV show we might have watched, or a song our baby brother is obsessed with (looking at you Blippi *glares as the first notes of “The Excavator Song” play in the back of my head*). But I mean, I mostly write fantasy so there aren’t always opportunities for blatant references.

Written Between the Hours of 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM

Yes I have. It was in June of last year, actually. I’d set a goal for myself to write at least 250 words every day during June, and my family was taking a day trip to visit our cousins so I wouldn’t have the chance to write. Well, I couldn’t fall asleep, so I decided, why not do it now, super early in the morning? So I did. And then I stayed up longer, fell asleep at 4:30 and woke up at 6:00. It was a fun day, but the drive back home was miserable.

Now, I’m just naturally awake late (sometimes all the way to 5:00 AM) so I feel like I’ll be doing this a lot more IF I EVER ACTUALLY FINISH PLOTTING AGH

Drank an Entire Pot of Coffee While Writing

I don’t really like coffee. Although, I haven’t tried it for over a decade so maybe it’s time I give it another go. I feel very non-white girl not liking coffee. Have I betrayed my kind??

Written Down Dreams to Use in a Potential Novel

Y’all. My dreams are strangely cinematic. Why wouldn’t I?

Published an Unedited Story on the Internet/Blog/Wattpad

No. I’m not crazy. I do one proof-read and then I post! Obviously! Unedited. Pff.

Procrastinated schoolwork Because I Wanted to Write

No, but I’ve been tempted to. I didn’t because I knew I’d never get back to it and then I’d be in trouble.

Typed So Long My Wrists Hurt

Yeah, but only because my desk is so much higher than my chair. ‘Tis a steep incline.

Spilled a Drink on My Laptop While Writing

I don’t have a laptop, but my sister has one, so let me ask her.

“Nope. Never done that.”

She has a way with words, that one.

The worst I’ve done to my computer is spill goldfish on my keyboard (the crackers, not the actual fish I had when I was little. RIP Goldie. 😥), and I threw popcorn at the screen once. Hey, stuff goes down on YWW. Sometimes you just gotta throw popcorn at your friends’ profile pics.

I promise, I’m sane.

Actually. . . .

No. No I don’t. Jury’s still out on that one.

Forgotten to Save my Work/Draft

Well, I forgot to save a copy of the newsletter my family used to write and I lost EVERYTHING. Since then, I’ve been very careful about clicking the save button at random intervals. *clicks save button*

Finished a Novel

Never a full 50k word novel. But I’m currently plotting a whole series and when I finish plotting, I can actually start writing. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to reach 50k. I’m a little worried that all my plotting will be for naught.

Laughed Like an Evil Villain While Writing a Scene

Hehe, yes, with my sister reading over my shoulder. Needless to say, she was a little traumatized.

Cried While Writing a Scene

Not yet. But, I am very emotional and there are some sad scenes in my plot, so it’s probable.

Created Maps of My Fictional World

I’m working on putting the finishing touches on one right now, actually! I needed a map to get my fantasy land out of my jumbled brain. And this way, I can make sure my characters’ various quests make sense! Some of them don’t, so I’ll have to find a workaround for that. It’s been fun, but very stressful. Sometimes I feel like my brain is going to explode 😅

Researched Something Shady For a Novel

Not yet, but a have a bunch of stuff saved on Pinterest hehe.

Alright, next is the

Idk where this image came from, but it was on my last Sunshine Blogger post soo

This is my second time being tagged for this award and I think it’s my favorite because sunshine is nice. Pearl tagged me for this one!

Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog. ✔

2. Answer the questions. ✔

3. Nominate eleven bloggers and ask them eleven questions. ✔ (Well, more or less.)

Pearl’s Questions:

1. What Website or App Do You Spend the Most Time on?

Currently, it’s YouTube, but if I ever rejoin YWW, that’ll probably take the crown.

2. Do You Like Car Rides?

Depends on where I’m sitting. Squished up in the back with my siblings? Ha, no thanks. Shotgun? Sure, that’s nice. Driver’s seat at night WHILE IT’S RAINING???? Yesssss pleaseeeee!!!

3. Can You Drive / Are You Learning to Drive / Do You Like Driving?

I guess the last answer answers this question! I got my learner’s permit almost two years ago and I really like driving, so long as it’s not too chaotic. I’m absolutely atrocious at parking, but we’re getting there. I’m supposed to take my driver’s test soon so I can chauffeur my grandmother around and I’m excited about that.

4. Have You Ever Been Unconscious Before?

No, besides when I sleep. I did almost faint once, when my dad was skinning chickens, and another time out of the blue in the shower, but it’s never actually happened. Thankfully. From what I’ve heard, it does not sound fun.

5. Favorite Flower?

Okay, I know it’s basic, but I loove sunflowers! They’re just so pretty and sometimes I feel like a walking sunflower myself. I’m tall and sunny and fragile. I also really like tulips and irises and flower of the Holy Spirit orchids. And orchids in general. They’re just so nice!

6. Do You Like Listening to Music While Studying Or Doing Other THings? If So, What Kind?

I’m actually listening to music right now! (Okay, well, it’s a McDonald’s ad.) (Never mind, Love is Gone by SLANDER just came on.) I usually listen to music in the evenings when I’m browsing Pinterest or checking emails or writing blog posts. I don’t typically listen to instrumental music (despite the fact that it’s really nice), so if I were to listen to it while I do school or write a letter etc. I would get distracted really easily. Hey, sometimes you can’t resist dancing along!

As for what kind, honestly, kid, I really don’t know. There are all kinds of genres in my playlist ranging from showtunes to trap. I usually just put my playlist on shuffle and listen to whatever the heck comes on. Like, I just went from a tender love song to a way darker song about closing your eyes. (Although the singer says “close your highs” instead of “close your eyes” and it’s kind of annoying.) My music is all over the place.

7. What are Your Favorite Girl or Boy Names?

Girl Names

Lily
Indigo
Ella
Gracie
Artemis
Noelle
Rebekah (or Rebecka)
Bianca
Alex
Heaven
Delilah (I would never name my daughter this but I still really like it)

Boy Names

Cody
Will
Evan
Chase
Ryan
Lukas
Hunter
Bryson
Caden
Logan
Jacob

Huh. I just realized. Most of the girl names are just names that I’ve seen and loved, but most of the boy names are the names of guys I actually know (or used to know). That’s kind of interesting.

8. What Does Your Morning/Evening Routine Look Like?

Well, my morning routine starts with me waking up towards noon (’cause I stay up so late writing or composing or plotting or reading or–) after turning off my alarm a thousand times LOL. Then, I get on my phone, read my Bible, scroll through Pinterest, play a game, just something to wake me up. If I had a crazy dream, sometimes I’ll write it down in my journal.

Once I’m awake (more or less), I head to the bathroom and get ready, brush my hair, fret over my acne, you know, the usual. Then, I head back to my room and get dressed, make sure nobody’s texted me or anything. And then, I’ll go eat lunch (’cause it’s usually ready by the time I’m up). After that, I start on school or do something with my siblings if it’s the summer.

My evening routine is basically nothing. I get on the computer between 7:00 and 8:00 PM and stay on till around 1:00. Sometimes I get bored and get off sooner. For the past couple of nights, I’ve played Risk with my brother (we have a super old version of the game where the world is square and definitely not proportionately correct at all, but it’s still fun to play). After I get tired enough (usually around 2:00 or 3:00 AM), I’ll head to bed. Sometimes I read, sometimes I plot, sometimes I lay in bed and contemplate how weird my life is.

Oh, and I also take a shower in there somewhere. LOL

9. What’s Something You’re Oddly Passionate About?

Hmm. . . . good question. I can’t really think of anything. There’s the usual “nOt LiKe OtHeR giRLs” crap. I take being a good friend very seriously, and if someone mistreats me, even in the slightest, I feel like I failed them as a friend. Maybe that’s just an anxiety thing heh.

10. Do You Have Any Hidden Talents?

For some reason, my newer friends are kind of surprised that I can draw. I gave one of my guy friends a drawing once, and he just went, “Holy COW!” and stared at it for a beat. I do like surprising people with my art skills. Their reactions are hilarious.

I can also pick up a lot of instruments really quick. Not well, mind you, but I can get the basics down pretty quick. Especially instruments that don’t require lung power 😅

11. It Would Appear That Pearl Accidentally Wrote the Same Question Twice, so I Guess There’s Only Ten Questions. Oh Well.

My Questions:

1. What Was the Last Song You Listened To?
2. Have You Ever Tried a Banana-Mayonnaise Sandwich? How DId You Like it? If Not, Would You Consider Trying One?
3. What is the Ratio of Real to Celebrity/Fictional Crushes You’ve Had?
4. Have You Been to the South? What Was Your Favorite Part? What Was Your Least Favorite Part?
5. How Many Blogs Are You Following?
6. Favorite VEgetable?
7. Favorite Fruit?
8. Favorite Kind of Bean? (And You Can’t Say the Toe Beans on Cats 😉)
9. Have You Ever Seen a Show on Broadway? What Show Was It? If Not, What Show Would You Like to See One Day?
10. If You Were to Be a Fugitive Under the Law, What Would be the Crime You CommiTted? (Whether Accidentally or On Purpose)
11. What is the View Out the Nearest Window?

Finally, we have

Liesl created this tag, and she tagged me for it, so I am very excited for it! Besides, I haven’t done a book tag in awhile. Maybe this will help remind me of what I need to read.

Questions:

A classic book that you have been meaning to read forever but haven’t yet

Besides all the ones on last year’s reading list that I ignored?

I would really love to read The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It sounds really interesting. I read the synopsis when I found it at the bookstore (but didn’t buy it because I knew my mom wouldn’t let me get it what with all the sexual content) and it has an interesting premise.

A book on your shelf that you haven’t read yet

Um. . . . most of them?

Cress is the third book by the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. I got the entire boxset for Christmas and I’m only on the second book. But I’m almost done!

*flashbacks to all the ranting I’ve done in various recap posts* *sigh*

A book that you got recently that you haven’t read

Well, the last time I went book shopping was in July and the bag is still sitting under my bed, waiting to be unloaded.

I’ve seen this book floating around and it looks interesting, so I grabbed it! (Plus it was highly recommended by one of my friends.) I’m actually really looking forward to reading it — so long as I stop procrastinating. 😅

A book that you’ve had forever but haven’t read

I read an abridged version ages ago and loved it, but the full version is a little thicker than I was prepared for. I do really love the story so maybe I can read it sometime.

A book a friend recommended that you haven’t read

I get a lot of recommendations from my friends, but this is one that I’m particularly excited for.

My friend thought I would really love the worldbuilding and if someone thinks I’m going to like the worldbuilding, then I am super excited to read the book they suggested! Besides, worldbuilding is just one of my favorite parts of writing in general.

A book you’re procrastinating on

Uhhhhh. . . . all of them?

Okay, how about this one?

When I was younger, I went through a phase where I was obsessed with Dance Moms. (I don’t know why. I’m horrified by that show now.) Maddie was one of my favorites on the show and I kind of wanted to read her book. I was quite excited to find a used copy at the bookstore, and I read the first chapter. And then stopped for some reason? So now I’m just procrastinating reading the rest of it. No idea why.

(Also, can we talk about how the heck they got that cover image? It makes my brain hurt.)

The next book on your TBR

Probably Cress, or maybe Assassins, the sixth book in the Left Behind series. If I decide to read something else, I’ll probably read The Hunger Games.

My parents are finally letting me read it, and I can’t to get in on the fandom! I’ve been in the dark for too long.

Drama Camp Days Three And Four [June Adventures Part Two] ~ In Which We Have Vocal Intensives And I Name Various Inanimate Objects (As One Does)

Welcome ladies and gents to June Adventures Part Two! I’m sorry it took so long for me to write this. But here we are, part two, full of as many crazy stories as the last part (if not more).

Also, I just wanted to say, I got rubber bands the other day for my braces and WOW are they not fun. How do people survive with these things???? I’m so glad I didn’t get them before Drama Camp happened because WOW that would have been a miserable month.

Okay, I’ll stop rambling now and start the post. Off we go!

Where we last saw our heroes, they’d just received the cast list and were excited about vocal intensives, which would take place Thursday and Friday. Auditions and other such chaos had just taken place and the rest of the week was sure to be just as crazy. Let’s review our characters — and their characters — shall we?

Me: Lady Larken
Chloe: The Minstrel
Anna: Lady-in-Waiting
Eden: Lady-in-Waiting
Emma: Rowena
Jordan: The Jester
Caden: Prince Dauntless the Drab
Emily: Queen Aggravain
Evan: Sir Harry
Lucy: Lady-in-Waiting
Brileigh: Princess #12/Lady-in-Waiting
Ethan: The Wizard
Bryson: The Silent King
Nevaeh: Princess Winnifred
Valerie: Lucille

* For the vast majority of the first day, we only referred to each other by our character names. And of course we celebrated the part each person got, as they were all well-deserved and aptly cast.

Actually, I still refer to most of the cast by their characters’ names. Especially Nevaeh. *waves to Nevaeh*

* Something you will see throughout all of these posts is a ridiculous amount of stuff just. . . . happening. There were a lot of random and surprising mishaps this year for whatever reason. Anyways, something happened that resulted in Cheryl, our director, and Emma, her daughter, being out during the vocal intensives. We were all pretty disappointed, especially because it was the first real day of rehearsals, but hey, the show must go on.

* Because of scheduling conflicts with the theater, half of our rehearsals took place at the church across the street, where Jonathan is the music minister (and where my family used to go to church. It’s pretty nostalgic getting to work in the music room, where I’ve had many a choir rehearsal). Unfortunately, whenever we did scene work, we had to do it on the stage in the sanctuary which is MUCH smaller than the stage at the theater, especially because there’s a piano and choir loft that take up 2/3 of the stage. We made it work though.

* There were a lot of the songs in the show with “All” parts, so we went over several of those with Jonathan. After listening the CD upwards of a thousand times, me and my sisters were quite the experts, but hey, a little practice is always nice. After finishing with us, Jonathan sent us out with Cheryl’s co-director, Jeremy. Jeremy is amazing. We stan Jeremy. Anyways, everyone (including Jeremy) went out to the sanctuary to work on staging, while Nevaeh and Caden stayed back with Jonathan to work on some of their solo parts.

* In the sanctuary, everyone highlighted their scripts (except those who already had the night before aka me) with Jeremy talking about random things in the background. After everyone finished, Jeremy told us to get on the stage. We all picked a random place to stand, and then he made us close our eyes. We took a moment to get into character, and then Jeremy watched us improv a scene. It was fun! I love doing improv! I’m terrible at keeping a straight face, but I love it nonetheless.

The scene we improv-ed took place during a ball thrown by the queen (aka Emily). The ladies-in-waiting stood around and chatted, the king said hello to guests, and the queen stood in a corner and sulked as only the queen could do. This was my first time really getting into character, and I enjoyed getting to know Lady Larken. I walked around the queen’s ball, greeting guests and thanking them for coming. Suddenly, to my Lady Larken’s astonishment, I looked over to see Evan Sir Harry, Larken’s lover, on one knee in front of the queen!

“Harry!” I said, over the din of knights and ladies chatting. “Why are you proposing to the queen?! I thought you loved me!”

Harry jumped to his feet. “Well, I was just, I was, I mean, I was greeting the queen!” he stuttered.

I shook my head. “By proposing to her? She’s MARRIED!”

Harry was visibly embarrassed. “Well, okay, how was I supposed to greet her?”

“By BOWING, maybe??” I retorted, demonstrating by bending at the waist. Harry started to say something, but I called the king over. “Your majesty, did you see what Sir Harry did?” When the king shook his head, I explained, “He was trying to propose to your wife!” The king may not have been able to speak, but you could see the shock on his face. Meanwhile the queen didn’t move, rolling her eyes at us ridiculous peasants.

Jeremy interrupted our lively conversation by introducing a new character to the mix, one who wasn’t even the script: the dastardly SIR CHAMBERLIN *bum bum bum* (played by him, of course). Sir Chamberlin *bum bum bum* had visited the court before. He was from a neighboring kingdom and was not especially liked by our royal court, particularly Harry and Larken. That was because he was seeking Larken’s hand in marriage. Larken had told him a thousand times that she and Harry were a thing, but some men just don’t listen. *insert eyeroll here* He kept flirting with Larken, who very awkwardly try to escape the situation. Harry just watched.

He’s a stand-up guy, that Harry. SMH.

* After lunch, Jonathan did more solo work with Nevaeh and Caden, but I got to stay back with them as I sang a bit with Caden (three words. Literally three words) and had a whole song with Nevaeh. ‘Twas fun. We had some laughs. (But when do we not??)

* After we were done, everyone came back and we did more work on the “All” parts. We made it through 9 out of 13 songs, which is lowkey impressive for the first day. I mean, they’re not called “vocal intensives” for nothin’!

* Random story from one of our breaks: me, Emily, and Nevaeh were just hanging out and chatting, and somehow we got onto the topic of rats (literally don’t even ask), and Emily asked Nevaeh what she would do if a rat ran across the stage while she was singing. Nevaeh made a face and said, “I’ma be out, bro. Bye! Y’all can deal with that by yourselves! Although Winnifred would probably befriend the rat.” (She didn’t exactly look thrilled with the fact that her character would befriend a whole rat.)

“Yeah,” I agreed, “she would probably adopt the rat and call him Monty.”

Emily looked at me. “I admire your ability to just name random inanimate objects.”

I was flattered. “Why thank you!” Of course, both of us overlooked the fact that rats aren’t exactly inanimate, but it’s the thought that counts.

Evan, who was sitting to my left and listening to our conversation, turned off his phone and held it in front of me. “Name my phone.”

I studied it for a moment, then promptly replied, “Bill.” (What? The phone had Bill vibes!)

Evan, if you’re reading this, don’t forget. Your phone is Bill.

Vocal Intensives ~ Day Two

* Day Two was even more intense than day one, if you can believe it! Whereas day one was more focused on group work, Jonathan did a lot more solo work on day two. But, by the end of the day, we had the music more or less down! (Not well, but we had it.) And there’s something satisfying about singing through the whole soundtrack at the end of vocal intensives. ‘Tis nice.

* Jonathan abandoned us had a doctor’s appointment at 10:30, so we spent about an hour in the sanctuary working on ✨ blocking! ✨ It took awhile (probably longer than necessary) but we got the first song and scene mostly staged. I stand in the same spot the whole time, so obviously I wasn’t the one who made the whole process take an hour. Kidding, kidding!

* We took a short break to wait for Jonathan, as he still wasn’t back yet. The door opened and we were all expecting Jonathan to walk in, but instead, Emma came around the corner! We were all very excited to see her, as we’d missed her a lot yesterday and she got several hugs.

* When Jonathan FINALLY came back *pauses to cast a joking glare at Jonathan* we worked on, you guessed it, MUSIC!! Emma caught on fast, despite missing the entire first day. I was proud of her.

* Lunch always had a chaotic air to it (that’s a lie, everything had a chaotic air to it) but boy, was this lunch wild. A bunch of us sat around in the corner and ate and chatted. Bryson stood nearby and ate, and Nevaeh and Emma made fun of his lunch. It was all in good spirit, but I mean, the man brought an entire bag of Fritos Scoops and nothing else. What was he expecting?

In a similar vein, Emma, Nevaeh, and Emily were horrified by the sandwiches me and Chloe were eating. Although, everyone’s horrified when they find out I like this, so. I mean, we were eating a classic (though unpopular) Southern treat! What’s so wrong with banana-mayonnaise sandwiches? They taste almost exactly like banana-peanut butter sandwiches, with a slight tangy flavor depending on how much mayonnaise you use. Don’t bash it. Try it first. Then come back and tell me how you feel about it. *glares at Emma, Nevaeh, and Emily*

In other chaotic lunchtime news, Jordan straight-up took a nap in the sanctuary on a pew (how was that comfortable??) and one of the guys that ended up quitting later on committed a big no-no and left without permission to get a pizza.

When he came back and we found out what he’d done, we had a lot of questions.

“You left??”

“Did you get in trouble?”

“What did Jeremy say?”

“Where did you even go???”

“I went to Domino’s,” he replied.

“Did you eat a whole pizza??” I asked in astonishment.

“Yeah,” he shrugged.

“Was it a large?” Emily asked.

“Yeah,” he shrugged again.

“WHAT??!!” we shrieked.

“WHERE DID IT GO???” Emma asked, gesturing to his skinny figure.

He shrugged yet again. “I dunno.”

So yeah. That was a thing that happened.

* After lunch, me, Nevaeh, and Emma worked with Jonathan on the song we sing together. Not much came out of that besides a lot of unnecessary giggles, a slightly exasperated Jonathan, and Emma’s new nickname for him: Johnny-Than-Than.

In our defense, he 100% signed up for this when he agreed to help Cheryl.

* Evan had abandoned us left for a doctor’s appointment ages ago and he still wasn’t back, so when it was time to work on our duet, it was just me. But, Ethan, Evan’s understudy, came in and sang for him. My part in that song was pretty high, but I love singing high and I have a range that surprises even me so it was a lot of fun! But of course, since I am a glutton for punishment, I requested to sing a note two steps higher than what was written. For anyone who understands such jargon, I went from singing an E♭5 to a G5 (translation: high). And I had to hold it out for seven measures with only a quick little breath before (translation: long and difficult). Despite my attempts to torture myself, I still really enjoyed performing that song. ‘Twas fun.

* After Jonathan finished with me, he sent me out to the sanctuary where everyone else was going over lines (except Ethan and Emily, as it was their turn to work with Jonathan). I sat on one of the pews and jumped right in with them! Jeremy was in charge and we know that when Jeremy is in charge, things get a little weird. The voices he did when he read the lines of the actors that were out were just *chef’s kiss* top-notch. That was our first time doing a table-read (well, pew-read) and it was very fun! Nevaeh sat on me a lot.

*moves on without elaborating*

* After the day was over, my voice was quite tired. But it was definitely worth it. I’d say vocal intensives was a success! We had the music down and started work on blocking and lines. Y’know, amidst all the other randomness that happened.

Well, it took ages to come out, but I hope y’all enjoyed part two of the June Adventures series! I certainly enjoyed reminiscing and laughing at all the nonsense we got up to. The next post in this series will be about week two, Drama Camp days five through eight (if I can fit it all into one post. I may need to stretch it out. We’ll see).

I hope y’all enjoyed this post, and I shall see you in the next one!

Toodles!

More Mail Art ~ In Which I Showcase More of My Random Envelope Designs

This was supposed to go up in July, but I’m a little good too good at procrastinating and it. . . . didn’t. Better late than never?

It’s been a few months since my last mail art post and I’ve written a good bit of letters since then. So here, enjoy more of my mail art!

Oh yeah, I also gave my blog a makeover if you didn’t notice. What do y’all think? I quite like it. And I also added a Contact Me page (Say Hey!) and a blog buttons page! (Blog Buttons) You guys are welcome to check those out if you’d like.

Okay, sorry, that’s all. On to the post!

I love this one. I spent so long on it and I feel like it turned out really cute! I don’t know if I’d ever make another one like it, but I am really proud of it.

I love looking at this one! I played around with my creativity a lot when I made it. Also, the white gel pen really adds a lot. *chef’s kiss*

This whole letter had a vintage theme, as I had a lot of random vintage ephemera lying around. I especially love how the envelope turned out. The kraft paper just works so well with so many different envelope designs, especially this one.

Here we see the various things I included in the letter including the letter itself, questions, answers (to questions she sent me in her letter), Would You Rather?, a little card or whatever that I wasn’t sure what to do with, and various stickers. I had an empty sticker sheet, so I just stuck a bunch of different stickers on it for Olivia to use!

A Lisa Frank-themed letter. Why not? I found a bunch of Lisa Frank stickers and I thought, “May as well relive my childhood.” Idk, I think it’s cute.

Oh wow. I forgot how much I sent Bianca 😅 Besides the actual letter, I sent her a riddle, questions, answers (to the questions she sent me), Would You Rather?, my answer to the Would You Rather? she sent me, stickers, and some pictures of me. (She’s a fairly new penpal.) There are so many rainbows in this letter. It’s great.

I made this one ages ago and I didn’t get the chance to use it for months. But it’s Sleepy Murphy! Y’all might remember Murphy from my first mail art post (if not, that’s alright). This is him asleep. I should make more Murphy mail art. . . .

This is the part of the post where the mail art becomes more minimal because I got busy with various things. I don’t hate the simpler designs though. I think this one turned out cute! The negative space is kinda nice.

This one’s cute too, if a little boring. I could have done more, but my letter was late and I wanted to get it sent as quickly as possible.

I may or may not have borrowed this design from a letter Liesl sent me. Except my version looks WAY better. *flips hair*

I sent Liesl a flower that I’d mentioned to her on the phone. The reason I mentioned it was because it somehow changed colors! When I picked it, it was bright pink, but it turned purple after I pressed it. It was the strangest thing!

Anyway, I made that little pocket from memory after seeing penpal YouTubers do it (what can I say, I watch a lot of Penpal With Me videos *shrugs*) and I stuffed a bunch of flower stationery in there. You know, to go with the pressed flower.

The calligraphy is pretty! I will admit, this was one of my more boring letters, but I hope Bea liked it nonetheless!

This one may not be the most pleasing to look at, but it’s pretty cool (at least in my opinion). I pressed that little branch and I figured I could use it to decorate an envelope. I used my glue tape to stick it down, and after I finished the entire thing (including writing the address), I stuck packing tape over the whole thing to make sure nothing got messed up.

(Also, if you’re wondering, I got the book page from a falling-apart duplicate copy of The Magician’s Nephew. I didn’t just decimate a book for no reason. Y’all can rest easy.)

I love how this one turned out! I remembered reading about the way people used to write letters back in the olden days when they couldn’t afford envelopes, so I decided to try it out. I decorated the paper and wrote my letter, then folded it up and addressed it on the outside of the paper! I also used some of my Dollar Tree stamps to decorate it. It turned out cute!

I wasn’t really planning to decorate this one quite as much as I did, but it just kinda happened. I am very happy with how it turned out, though. The colors just match so well! The paint chip, and the washi, and the brush pen I used for the address. . . . it just worked! I’m also really happy with how the calligraphy turned out. Some of my best work, I think.

Well, I hope y’all enjoyed and maybe found some inspiration for your own mail art! Oh, and let me know how you feel about my blog’s redesign! I figured she was way overdue for a facelift.

Alright, that’s all! Toodles!

The Month of School ~ In Which I Recap July and Lament Over My Miserable Blogging Habits

Well, here we are. It is August. School will be starting soon. Actually, some of my friends have already started back. My family probably won’t start back until mid-August. I actually kind of excited. For the past three years of highschool, I have managed to fall behind in school and was forced to do school in the summer (last year, I was doing school up until the day before we started the next school year. It was a little ridiculous.), so this year, I have made it my goal to NOT FALL BEHIND. It’s anyone’s guess as to whether I can uphold that goal, but I guess we’ll see.

Anyways, without further ado, let’s jump into my July recap!

July Memories

My memories of July are like, non-existent, especially because the only writing I did in my journal was brainstorming for my novel, so I shall see what my sister wrote in her journal. Maybe she remembered everything I didn’t LOL

My baby brother turned four! I don’t like how fast he’s growing. We had a little birthday party for him (and my grandmother) on the fourth, and it was a good time. All the grandparents came over and we ate cupcakes (or was it cake?) and he opened a bunch of presents and got a bunch of stuff. Y’know, classic birthday stuff.

We didn’t actually set off fireworks this year, and I’m a little disappointed about that. I can’t remember the last time we didn’t have a fireworks show or attend a fireworks show on the fourth. Oh well.

Much of my July was spent with COVID. My dad caught it from a co-worker (the same co-worker he caught it from the last time he had it 😑) and he was starting to feel it Saturday, the 9th. Still, he suffered through Sunday so he could do all his music minister-ly duties, and took a COVID test that evening. So then we quarantined for about a week. Everyone caught it. And on varying levels, too. Dad first, then my oldest sister, then my other two sisters and my younger brothers. Then me. My mom was the last to get it, but she didn’t get it until everyone was recovering, thankfully.

It was my first time having COVID, and it really wasn’t all that bad, compared to other sicknesses I’ve had. The only thing is, I almost never get sick (how? I don’t know. I must have a great immune system. Or maybe germs just can’t be bothered to infect me 🤷‍♀️), so it hit me HARD. All I did was sit in a chair all day and watch YouTube videos to distract myself from my cough and stuffy nose. (I did discover Danny Gonzalez’s YouTube channel, and by golly, that man is hilarious. He made my sickness tolerable XD) I got sick Wednesday, and we were out of quarantine by. . . . the next Wednesday, I believe.

You know, now that I think about it, maybe I was so miserable from being sick because I didn’t bother to change my outlandish sleep schedule and actually go to bed before 1:00 AM.

. . . .

Nah, that’s crazy.

Ooh, we had another big storm a couple of weeks ago! I wanted to just stand in the rain, but my mother decided I should care more about my safety and wouldn’t let me. Boo mothers. Always looking out for the safety of their children. Blah.

We brought the bunny inside.

We gave him a crown.

He just loved it.

Ignore my sister’s feet LOL

Just look at how thrilled he is! *clasps hands* Sweet li’l bun-bun.

Anyways, my sister got a laptop for her writing! It’s a really old laptop and it doesn’t work unless it’s plugged in (which defeats the whole purpose, but it’s the thought that counts). Our grandmother gave it to her because she found it while she was cleaning out her house. My sister has named him Richard and she uses him every day. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get a laptop, but my sister writes way more regularly than I do and she’s usually fighting my brother for the computer, so it just made sense. I guess I’m stuck with my dad’s desktop computer that I use more than him so my siblings call it “Mia’s Computer”. (It works better than Richard anyway.)

Nope, I’m not beefing, just stating facts.

😁

Oh, an interesting thing that happened in my life is I played Minecraft Java Edition for the first time! I’ve been playing Bedrock Edition since. . . . a long time ago, and we’ve had Java for months. So I played it. It was alright. The frames per second were way better than in Bedrock on my computer LOL

Also, July 31st was the last Sunday before the Sunday school children move up a grade. My second oldest sister is moving up into the youth group come Sunday. I don’t know how I feel about this.

Okay, I think that’s all.

Bullet Journal Spreads

I haven’t actually made any spreads for August, and I don’t think I will. If I need my bullet journal for school, I can just make some weekly spreads. Hopefully, I’ll get back into my bullet journal when September rolls around.

July Goal Recap

1. Finish school!!! ✔

I did it! I completed chemistry and completed all my health projects (which took a hot minute, lemme tell ya). I do have one health project left, but it’s like, three weeks of exercise, so we don’t talk about that one. It’ll get done eventually.

2. Orchestrate three songs ❌

Nope, I only did one. That one gave me fits though! It was a prettier, simpler, almost-lullaby song so I thought it was going to be one of the easier ones to orchestrate. Alas, it was not. But I got it done! And now I’m working on another song that’s giving me fits. So that’s fun.

3. FINISH. SCARLET. ❌

UGH I’M SO UPSET. I DIDN’T GET THIS ONE. I GIVE UP.

4. Complete four journal spreads ✔

I did eleven spreads overall! They’re not all 100% finished, but most of them are, so that’s good. I’m really happy with how they’re turning out, too. I can’t wait for this project to be finished!

August Goals

1. Start school — and don’t fall behind!!

My dual enrollment classes start in October, roughly nine or ten weeks after we start school. They last for eight weeks, so my plan is to do those eight weeks of highschool beforehand so I can just focus on college stuff. Now, if you know anything about me, you know I am the queen of falling behind in school. BUT, this year is my senior year, and I have made it my goal to not fall behind. At all. I’ve totally got this!

2. Orchestrate three songs

It’s my goal to finish work on my musical by the end of this year. I have eight songs to get done after the one I’m in the middle of. I’m not sure if I’ll be 100% done by December 31st, because I keep going back to my “completed” songs and tweaking stuff. But as long as I have the rough draft done, I’ll be happy.

3. Make decent headway on my plot

I’m so tired of putting “Finish my plot” on my list and then not doing anything. But, I’ve been feeling inspired lately, so maybe I can at least get a good bit of work done on it. School will mess me up in some respects, but I still have a couple of weeks before it starts.

4. Get my sleep schedule back on track

It’s a mess. I think I just naturally stay up late (not everyone can have the perfect sleep schedule), but staying up till 4:00 AM and sleeping till noon (or later) is kind of degrading, ngl. And I’m definitely going to need to wake up earlier for school. So, I’m going to start going to bed earlier and waking up earlier.

5. Post two other posts besides this one

I kind of left y’all hanging on the June Adventures series. Sorry about that. I’m going to try to write at least one this month, and also see if I can get a mail art post out as well. I’ve been working on one for awhile.

6. Journal more

Despite writing a lot in my journal over the past couple of months, there haven’t been very many “entries”. I’ve been using it mostly for brainstorming and I haven’t written much about my life. I miss it.

July Stats:

Blog posts published: 1 (despite my blog saying I posted it in June, I did actually post it in July. Not sure what’s up with that.)
Letters written: 3
Letters received: 0 (☹)
Art done: 0
Words written (outside of blog posts): 0
Journal entries: 5
Songs in playlist: 633

Okay, that’s all I’ve got! I’ve got stuff to do now, so toodles!
