Recently (within the last week or so), I’ve had a series of clients receive an error (see below) while trying to check out using credit card, which causes their subscription to fail in WooCommerce. However, PayPal eventually approves the transaction (and they are charged), but the subscription has already failed.

Are reference transactions now effectively required to accept CC payments?

    Full text of error:
Failed to process the payment. Please try again or contact the shop admin. [UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/orders/v2/#error-MERCHANT_NOT_ENABLED_FOR_REFERENCE_TRANSACTION
