Lakbai on TV5

 Presidential son Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has been bitten by the show biz bug. The 29-year-old bachelor, youngest son of President Duterte, will be featured in an eight-part “adventure-travel-reality” TV show called “Lakbai” on TV5.“Wala eh, hindi ko na mapigilan kasi, ‘di ba? Nag-decide na lang ako to try show biz (I can’t help it, I can’t stop it, isn’t it? I just decided to try show biz),” the young Duterte said at the show’s launch held at Aracama at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on Wednesday night.

Lakbai” is a condensed take on the Visayan phrase “lakaw ta, bai” or “let’s go, friend.” It is also a play on the Filipino word “lakbay” which means “to travel.”

Baste confessed that show biz denizens did not have a hard time luring him in. “They didn’t convince me. Desisyon ko lang ito. Sayang din naman iyong suweldo. Iyon lang naman iyon (This is my decision. It would be a waste of money if I passed on the chance. That’s all there is to it),” Duterte shared

“If this doesn’t work out, puwede naman akong umuwi sa Davao (I’ll go back home to Davao),” he added.p

TV5 Head of Programming Mell Yazon-Tolentino told the Philippine Daily Inquirer at the sidelines of the launch that the station approached Duterte for a TV project, and arrived at the reality format to convince the presidential son to give it a shot.

“It took us several months of negotiations,” the TV executive added.

“There’s a close collaboration with Baste. You will see in this show a different side of him,” Toelntino shared.

For his first venture into show business, Duterte asked TV5 to include some of his friends, because “I’m camera shy.”


Making Duterte’s first foray into TV more comfortable for him are some of his closest friends — lawyer Alexis Lumbatan, S’Boi Malicay and Andrei Apostol. A special guest will also appear in each episode.
Completing the gang is internet star Bogart the Explorer, also a Davaoeño.

The show, which will air every Sunday night after the Philippine Basketball Association games, runs for an hour per episode, and will cover two to three places per installment..

“Lakbai” premieres on May 21, after the PBA match between Ginebra and San Miguel. 

Allianz PNB Life Backs National Youth Futsal Cup

Allianz PNB Life in cooperation with the Henry Moran Foundation and the 

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) will be holding the National Youth Futsal Cup on May 6, Saturday, 7am to 5pm, at the University of Asia and the Pacific. 
The event will mark the beginning of the selection process for the Philippines’ participation to the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC). Allianz, the official partner of FC Bayern Munich, is host to an annual international football camp held in Munich, Germany. The camp gives teenagers (between the ages of 14-16) from across the world a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train with the FC Bayern Munich coaches. 
This is the first year Allianz PNB Life will be sponsoring five male players from the friendly tournament to the AJFC to be held this July in Bali, Indonesia. Two winners out of the five players will be given the chance to represent the Philippines in the global camp this year in Munich, Germany.

IT’S often derided as inedible, and a symbol of all the wrongs perpetrated against food, but love it or hate it, there’s no denying Spam is one of the most iconic and lasting food brands still on our supermarket shelves.

Nakaw to be Featured in Cannes International Film Festival.

The Filipino film “Nakaw” helmed by director Noel Escondo has been chosen to participate in the Short Film Corner of the Cannes International Film Festival.

According to the Director Noel Escondido “It is every director’s dream that his film will be screened in the biggest stage in the world, the Cannes Film Festival. I still couldn’t believe that my first short film with Arvin Kadiboy Belarmino will be participating in the Court Metrage,” he said.

“Nakaw” is the first film collaborated by Arvin Belarmino and Noel Escondo, also Patsy Ferrer’s (Cut Print Productions) first film producing debut. The film was first screened during Instituto Cervantes’ 15th Manila Spanish Film Festival as an official selection and it has been going the rounds of different film festivals in the country.

Escondo is also hoping that “Nakaw” will be chosen to compete “but for now this is more than enough.” According to its official website, the Short Film Corner is “the essential rendezvous for filmmakers.” Aside from participating in the Short Fim Corner, Esconde said “Nakaw” will also be competing this week at PeliKultura Film Festival 2017 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

As of March 3, 2017, this short film has been officially selected for Festival de Cannes 2017’s Short Film Corner and will be showcased along with different short films from around the world. It will be screened from May 22-28, 2017 at the Cannes Film Festival 2017.
