Beat the Backlist: Early One Morning and We Hope For Better Things #BookReview #Audiobook #BeatTheBacklist2026 #BlackHistoryMonth

One of my goals this year (and in past years) is to read more of my backlist books, especially those from Netgalley and Edelweiss. This challenge helps me focus on that. Both of these books have been waiting for me to read since 2015 and 2019 respectively. One was a winner, the other was just okay. I was able to listen to both of these books on audible, which I thing helped me to enjoy them more.

Great Canadian Reading Challenge: She Didn’t See it Comming and The Illegal #BookReview #GreatCanadianReadingChallenge2026 #BlackHistoryMonth #BooksIOwn

Being Canadian, I try to read Canadian authors when I can. This year, I have joined the 2026 Great Canadian Reading Challenge to purposely look for books by Canadian authors. My goal is to read a minimum of 24 books by Canadian authors, hopefully some that I have never read before. That means at least 2 per month. These are #6 and #7, and both authors that I have read before. The Illegal is also a book that I owned my copy of, and is one I read for Black History Month.
