I was born in Brunei, and have had around 20 different addresses across various countries and continents. I’ve been in Leeds for almost 24 years now. Leeds is home.
When I was seven I wanted to write books, then I got older and people kept telling me I should get a proper job. Some of my proper jobs (teacher, careers adviser, events coordinator) have been brilliant, but I never stopped wanting to write. Eventually, in August 2012, I got up the courage to apply to the MA in Creative Writing at Sheffield Hallam, and around the same time I started submitting my short fiction for publication. After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic and the onset on perimenopause, I am submitting again and planning a new project – see the Lit Projects page to find out more.
