Other cities affected include, I believe, Atlanta, Dallas, Kansas City, Philly, among others

I was listening to a podcast on my drive to work this morning and it was an interview with actress Joan Collins from last year. She was asked how did she land the part of 'Alexis' on the ABC drama 'DYNASTY' back in 1981 ? Did she push her agent to set something up for her ?
She explained she got it because she was willing to take a 'guest starring' role which was originally written to last six episodes - which no other actress wanted. She said they first offered the part to actress Jessica Walter, who wanted a full-season contract and not sign up for a six episode story-arc. Aaron Spelling then offered the role to Liz Taylor, who wasn't interested in anything 'beyond one or maybe two episodes' (and wouldn't commit to six), and then finally Sophia Loren - who wanted a full season salary for six episodes.
Spelling then remembered Collins, whom he had seen recently in an old movie that had aired on late-night TV. The producers got in touch with her agent, who contacted her while she was on vacation with her 'young children' and sent her the script for the first two episodes. She was hesitant because she had never heard of the show before, as it hadn't hit the UK market yet. What she did find out through her contacts was that the show was on the brink of cancellation - the first season was not the ratings hit ABC was hoping for. Her agent told her, not to worry about ratings - just go in and do the character for six weeks. 'Who cares if this is just a six episode story-arc ? It pays very well, and who knows - maybe they'll like what you do with the character and keep you longer if it gets a full season?' She agreed.
She cut her family vacation short and flew out to LA for the summer of 1981 to film the six episodes. Half way through, they liked what she was doing with the character, so they added a few more episodes and changed the storylines to feature her more prominently. As the eps were airing that Fall, the ratings started rising each week and Spelling finally offered her a full season contract, making her one of the stars of the show (which pissed off Pamela Sue Martin and a few others). She takes full credit for turning the show around and making it rise to #1 a couple of seasons after. She ended up staying until the last show in May, 1989.

US President Donald Trump will travel to Mount Rushmore next week for an Independence Day celebration beneath the carved faces of four of his revered predecessors, organizers said Thursday, as the Republican puts his personal stamp on events marking America's 250th anniversary.
Trump is due to headline a July 3 fireworks display at the South Dakota memorial, where the massive, granite likenesses of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt loom over the Black Hills.
The event is expected to feature military bands, flyovers, tributes to the armed forces and a speech by the Republican president on the eve of the July 4 holiday.
It will be the first fireworks display at Mount Rushmore since 2020, when Trump also attended during his first term.

I don’t believe for one minute that he weighs 238 pounds and still stands 6’ 3”.
The White House released the results of President Donald Trump’s May physical late Friday evening, sharing a memo from his physician recommending he lose weight and exercise more while noting he is in excellent health.
“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella wrote in a letter. “Cognitive and physical performance are excellent. He is fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
Barbabella wrote, “Preventive counseling was provided,” during the exam, “including guidance on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss.”
The doctor noted the president stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 238 pounds.
At his physical exam last April, Trump weighed 224 pounds.
His visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Tuesday marked the third time he’s visited the facility for a medical exam since becoming the oldest president ever inaugurated last year.
Prior to the visit, the White House said the check-up would include “routine annual dental and medical assessments,” despite him having already visited a dentist in Florida twice this year.
Immediately following the visit, Trump offered scant details on Truth Social, writing “Everything checked out PERFECTLY.”
Since returning to the White House in 2025, visible ailments and speculation over his health have prompted the White House to divulge new details of the president’s physical condition.
The White House said swelling in his legs and ankles that was revealed last summer was a result of chronic venous insufficiency, a condition in which valves inside certain veins don’t work the way they should, which can allow blood to pool or collect in the veins. Trump attempted wearing compression socks, but found them uncomfortable.
In Friday’s letter, the president’s doctor wrote that, during Tuesday’s physical, “Slight lower leg swelling was noted, with improvement from last year.”
The president has also developed noticeable bruising on his hands during his second term, which the White House has chalked up to frequent handshakes and attempted to cover up with concealer in photographs.
According to the doctor’s readout, Trump also submitted to a “comprehensive neurological exam,” which showed “normal mental status, intact cranial nerves, normal motor strength, sensation, reflexes, gait, and balance.”
As for Trump’s heart health, the doctor said, “Al-enhanced electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis estimated his cardiac age…to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.”
Barbabella’s letter noted that Trump currently takes aspirin but didn’t give a dosage. When it’s used for preventive purposes, doctors generally advise taking 81 milligrams of aspirin per day, but Trump told the Wall Street Journal in January that he takes 325 milligrams, a dose that can raise the risk of bleeding.
“They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart,” Trump told the WSJ. “I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. … They’d rather have me take the smaller one. I take the larger one, but I’ve done it for years, and what it does do is, it causes bruising.”
Trump again took the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a 10-minute screening test used to detect mild cognitive impairment and early dementia. The doctor said the president scored 30 out of 30.

I can't really imagine it being the case, especially in the '80s. I agree that she has a sultriness about her, but she's also got a lot of masculine features and qualities. She kind of reminds me of Kelly McGillis, whose beauty is at a similar cross-section.

Since the DL is shutting down, I figured, what the hell, I'll share this.
I had a serious problem with booze and blow in my 20s. Alcoholism runs in my family, on both sides. I also smoked cigarettes. I quit everything the summer Amy Winehouse died (we were born the same year, interestingly). I haven't smoked or drank or used coke since. It's been fifteen years.
Around the time I turned 40, I started taking edibles every evening when I would get home from work. I was quickly up to 30+ MG a night. I would periodically quit for a few weeks or even months, but it never lasted. It was very similar to the pattern I'd fallen into with alcohol: I'd drink two bottles of wine, every evening. It became a comforting ritual to numb tremendous psychic pain.
I've decided I'm never going to use THC again. Like alcohol, it was fun until it wasn't. I already suffer from bipolar disorder and other mental health issues, and my brain is better off without it. I'm going to get back in shape this year too.

This Female Scholar Knows It Well
Emily Wilson’s 2017 translation of Homer’s epic—the first by a woman—was called a woke “abomination” by online reactionaries. Christopher Nolan’s film is facing similar critiques.
Who’d have thought Helen of Troy would cause so much trouble?
Earlier this year, certain quarters of the internet spun out at news that Kenyan-Mexican Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o was rumored to appear as the impossibly beautiful Spartan noble Helen—whose face, it was later written, launched a thousand ships—in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming Hollywood Homeric epic, The Odyssey.
The confirmation of her casting in May kicked off another wave of conniption fits. One YouTuber seemed to seriously suggest that the nation of Greece should file a lawsuit against Nolan. (On what grounds, exactly?) “Helen of Troy” rocketed up the trending topics on X, with the website’s trillionaire owner claiming that Nolan “has lost his integrity” and had “desecrated the Odyssey so that he would be eligible for an Academy Award.” Such a feverish reaction to the idea of a fantastical ancient queen being played by a Black actress has become grimly predictable. History, literature, and even completely made-up myths have become fodder for reactionaries, cranks, and amateur historian content creators with names like @RomanHelmetGuy, all contesting vague ideas of “Western culture.” (@RomanHelmetGuy did not respond to repeated requests for comment.)
Few people know more about these squabbles than Emily Wilson. An Oxford-born, Oxford-educated classicist (with another degree in early modern English literature), Wilson’s modern translations of Homer’s epics, The Iliad and The Odyssey, have themselves been staging grounds for culture war consternation. It’s an issue she seems to approach with the resolve of a grizzled veteran—or just an exhausted one. When I say the words “culture war” in our interview, Wilson, now the department chair of classical studies at the University of Pennsylvania, pats her hand over her yawning mouth, exaggeratedly. Bo-ring.

Just finished watching a Bette Davis movie from 1939 which I recorded a few days ago off TCM. Called 'The Old Maid', it has Davis portraying a woman who had a child out of wedlock (with her cousin's ex-beau) and has the cousin raise her as her own. Davis pretends she's an old maid aunt, who lives with the two of them. The whole movie was a struggle between Davis and her cousin on the upbringing of the child, and whether Davis will tell her the truth or not...
I really enjoy Davis' movies, but this one was such a bore. It was so repetitive throughout the film. I can't believe I lasted the 99 minutes. Has anyone else ever sat through this - what did you think ? Was I missing something ?

King Charles is welcoming Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle back to the United Kingdom.
On June 17, Britain's Daily Telegraph reported that Harry, 41, would return to the U.K. next month for the first time in four years with his wife Meghan, 44, and their two children in tow.
USA TODAY has since learned that King Charles, 77, offered royal accommodations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their family, but there has been no response as of June 19. Harry and Meghan have previously been offered accommodations at Buckingham Palace during their trips to the U.K., but have declined.
It is unclear what the security arrangements will be for the Sussexes' visit in July. Even if they accept the accommodations offered by King Charles, there will be no additional security measures, as they are decided by the Home Office.
USA TODAY has reached out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.
The British royal and former "Suits" star married at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018, but have since distanced themselves from the monarchy — for reasons detailed in Harry's memoir as well as their Netflix docuseries — and settled down in Duchess Meghan's home state of California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
As they continue to build a media empire and perform philanthropy work across the globe, let's take a look back at their relationship over the years, starting with Harry and Meghan greeting members of the public at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Sydney on April 17, 2026.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex dramatically left the United Kingdom in 2020 – an event dubbed "Megxit," a play on Brexit, Britain's exit from the European Union. They now live in California with kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5.
The trip will mark the first time the Sussex family has visited Harry's home country since June 2022, when the family of four joined a celebration to mark Queen Elizabeth II's 70-year reign. Meghan was last in the United Kingdom in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth's funeral.
Harry has cited significant concerns for his family's safety, citing their lack of security on British soil as part of why the family had a falling out and a reason for not returning. The Duke's security was downgraded after he stepped back from royal life and duties in 2020. As a result, the couple lost their tax-funded police protection.
Since then, Harry has fought for their security to be reinstated. Last year, he lost an appeal in a U.K. court over the levels of security he and his family are entitled to while spending time in Britain.

Then, in 1981, she was cast as the archvillainess of soap: Alexis Carrington in Dynasty. A role which brought her worldwide fame. She says "she's a born survivor."
Indeed, Alexis may or may not be dead, but Joan Collins goes on.

For all you Tennesseans, you will soon have a choice to make your 'pit stop' during your travels within the state.
Buc-ee’s is growing its presence across the South, including two new outposts in Tennessee. However, fans of a beloved country singer will soon have a new option for where to stretch their legs in the Volunteer State.
Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, the first-of-its-kind pit-stop from country singer Dolly Parton, is officially set to open on June 24. First announced in November 2025, the brand is set to be the first of multiple locations that combine all things Dolly Parton with the supersized gas stations that places like Buc-ee's have made famous. Located at exit 22 off of I-65 in Cornersville, Tennessee, about one hour south of Nashville, Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop is planning to introduce a "travel experience built around the idea that every stop on the highway should feel a little more like home," according to a news release.
Hungry customers will be able to dine on DLY BBQ or refuel with a Dolly's Cup of Ambition Coffee, as well as shop Dolly merch and eat at a full-service sit-down cafe and restaurant, something Buc-ee's notably doesn't offer. In addition, fans of Dolly Parton can swing by a tour bus inspired by the one she has used for years, creating plenty of photo-worthy opportunities.

Does anyone remember Olivia Newton-John's chain of Australian-themed boutiques called Koala Blue ? ONJ invested in the company with a friend of hers (I believe it was John Farrar's wife, as Farrar was her long-time manager and producer). ONJ claimed she was 'homesick' for the food and fashions of Australia, and was sure there were enough Australian transports around the world who missed it as much as she did.
She opened her first store on Melrose Ave, and had a cafe attached to the boutique. It became an overnight sensation. Tees, sweats, mugs, headbands, handbags - all with her Koala logo on it - filled the store along with packaged foods and housewares. ONJ started franchising, and by the end of the decade, there were 60 stores around the world. At the time, I had just opened my store in RI about a year prior, and there was an empty retail space next door to me.
I remember a young couple (a little older than I was) were checking out the space for over a month, as they had 'bought the franchise' for Southern New England and was looking for 'the right spot'. I remember talking to them, and they had spent a couple of hundred thousand dollars to buy the franchise for RI & MA. (They ended up opening in Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, instead. I kept in touch with them for a while, and they ended up closing and losing everything within a year.) This seemed to indicate what was about to happen.
By early 1992, the whole chain shut down and those franchise owners collectively lost millions. ONJ also lost her investment on the stores she owned, which put a riff in her relationship with the Farrars. A Colorado couple lost their life savings and their home on two locations they opened. Lawsuits were filed against ONJ, but her lawyers claimed she had nothing to do with the failure of the company.
Did anyone here have any connections to the stores ? Anyone work in one, or own one or know someone who did ? Anyone ever a customer ?

Today's relentless ass-kissing of Whoopi's ass deserves its own thread, and not just added to 'The View' thread because it was that insufferable.
The four actresses from 'The Whoopi Monologues' (opening July 7 on Broadway) were the guests today to celebrate Whoopi, kiss her ass, and lick her pussy. Kerry Washington and the others had tears in their eyes letting Whoopi know what an honor it was to 'recreate' her 1985 B'way show, in an 'innovative' way of reading the script. Some fat chick the size of the original Lizzo was dressed in a white toga (for some reason), brought Whoopi a boquet of flowers, and later on told her she was their 'North Star'.
Cohosts Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin jumped in on the festivities (Joy Behar and Alyssa Farah Griffin must've had enough dignity to ask producer Brian Teta to let them leave the stage), and kissed Whoopi's ass, as well. I'm surprised they didn't have a hologram of Barbara Walters, letting Whoopi know she's been her 'North Star', too.
Sunny took a minute - with tears in her eyes - to let Whoopi know she's her North Star, and she has learned so much from her over the past 10 years hosting with her. But wait, there's more ! Sunny pointed out that many black actresses AND actors come on stage to tell Whoopi they couldn't have done it without her, and that she is also the 'North Star' for her two children Gabe and 'From the River to the Sea' Paloma.

Hollyoaks legend James Sutton said his final goodbye to the most dramatic village in the North West in February, before taking his career in a surprising new direction – OnlyFans.
The actor played John Paul McQueen, on-and-off, for 20 years, first arriving back in 2006. The story that undoubtedly put his character on the map was his coming-out love story with his best mate, Craig Dean (Guy Burnet).
After a break from the show, he returned to Hollyoaks for a second stint, which saw John Paul’s dream job as a teacher turn into a nightmare when he was bullied, tormented and violently raped by Finn O’Connor (Keith Rice).
The harrowing story eventually saw John Paul get justice and his attacker was sent to prison for his appalling crimes, bringing the classic character’s second stint in Dee Valley to a close.
John Paul’s final chapter in Hollyoaks saw him embroiled in a domestic abuse plot with new boyfriend, George Kiss (Callum Kerr), ending with his murder at the hands of JP’s mum, Sally St. Claire (Annie Wallace).
This sent JP spiralling down into alcoholism, falling into toxic relationships with self-loathing conversion therapist, Carter Shepherd (David Ames) and Patrick Blake’s serial killing twin Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield).
He left the show for good in early 2026 in a special ‘What If?’ episode featuring a reunion of return McQueens both alive and dead.
With his time in Soapland coming to a close, James Sutton was left to answer the question that daunts every actor – what next?
OnlyFans is a social media platform typically associated with adult content. But James is shattering expectations of the public perception of OF by using it to promote mental health, life goals and body positivity.
‘The journey I’ve been on the past five years to ten years, in terms of my physical health and my mental health and overcoming addiction, really poor choices and ultimately not being reliable to myself.’ James told Metro. ‘These are the foundations of the things I write and talk about. So going on OF is a really good opportunity for me.’
‘The interactions I have had so far have been super positive. People are really resonating with what I am doing and what I am saying, putting out a variety of different content on the platform, some value stuff, performative stuff, some gym videos, some fitness, some straight to camera stuff. Real life stuff, and some.. you know…. Some pictures of me in my pants!’
‘Because I’m 43 years of age. And it shouldn’t just be my cats that get to appreciate all my hard work. I can share that with the world! So there’s something for everyone. I’m having a really good time. Give the boys and girls what they want!’

Better than making 3rd rate muzak or numerous albums of Broadway covers.

Unfortunately, as her signature No. 1 hit single indicates, the truth hurts when it comes to pop star Lizzo's new album sales.
'Bitch' debuted to catastrophic sales three years after she weathered misconduct allegations from former backup dancers that led to a legal case, portions of which a judge ultimately threw out amid Lizzo vehemently denying the accusations.
While Lizzo's 2022 album Special hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Bitch missed the publication's ranking altogether, though it did appear on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart at No. 46.
According to data provided to Entertainment Weekly by music industry data service Luminate, 'Bitch', which dropped June 5, moved 2,649 units in its first week of release — a number that fell to 650 across the LP's second full week of availability.
Those numbers are a far cry from numbers posted by Special, which debuted with approximately 69,000 in total units (including pure sales and streaming-equivalent numbers).
EW has reached out to Lizzo's record label for comment on the album's performance on the charts.
Despite Bitch's sales, the 38-year-old singer has amassed huge success in the music industry since her breakout with "Truth Hurts." Both that single and "About Damn Time" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

[quote]In Tip Toe, Davies will explore the most corrosive forces facing the LGBTQ+ community today, examining the danger as prejudice creeps back into our lives. Problems we thought were long-gone are returning, toughened and weaponised, until no one knows truth from lies any more.
[quote]The five-part series will follow Leo and Clive who live next door to each other in Manchester. Leo runs a bar on Canal Street, Clive’s an electrician, with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense. Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe.

After a long, well-publicized battle with anal cancer, the face of the late 1970s passed away at the age of 62, around 9:30 am outside of LA. The 'breaking news' was short-lived, however, when Michael Jackson died three hours later. All the afternoon and evening programming switched gears quickly, from covering the death of Farrah to covering the death of Jackson. Farrah was tossed to the side and became what has become known as "Farrah'd" : when two famous people die within hours of each other and the first one is overshadowed by the second. Just this week it happened with Alan Greenspan / Clive Davis. Greenspan was 'Farrah'd"

Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., on Wednesday questioned the Trump administration over the mystery individual who got exclusive access to a new weight loss drug that is not available to the general public.
Hassan penned a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy expressing concern over reports that a “well-connected individual,” whom she suggested is President Donald Trump, received special, free access to the experimental weight loss drug retatrutide.
The New Hampshire Democrat shared the letter with MS NOW in an exclusive interview with “The Weeknight.”
“I am deeply concerned by new reporting that suggests you may be bending the rules of a federal program, and exerting improper political pressure, in order to provide a well-connected individual with free access to an exclusive prescription drug,” the senator wrote to Kennedy.
Hassan’s letter comes a day after Stat News reported that drug manufacturer Eli Lilly and the Food and Drug Administration allowed special access to retatrutide for a lone 79-year-old man in April through its “compassionate use” program.
Noting that Trump was 79 years old in April, Hassan said in her letter to Kennedy, “Reporting suggests that you have used this pathway to provide a highly anticipated medication for obesity to a single VIP individual for free, without providing that opportunity to other Americans.”

Legendary actress and pussy popper Charlotte Kirk has found a new purpose for her vagine: securing child support for 18 years! No word on if DL Fave Melissa Beth Miller will be godmother.
British film star Charlotte Kirk has given birth to her first child - a healthy boy - but suffered a 'terrifying' labour ordeal that left her in tears.
The Ocean's 8 and How To Be Single actress, 33, welcomed son Hunter at the weekend with her fiancé, Colombian-born film producer Karlos Ways, 39, at Queen Mary’s Hospital in London.
Charlotte shared an exclusive photo with the Daily Mail showing herself cuddled up to her newborn son shortly after the birth.
The actress said they named their son Hunter because it symbolises bravery, explaining: 'We wanted something that would grow with him.'
Charlotte and Karlos met through mutual friends over three years ago, with the star describing their chemistry as 'instant'.
Charlotte, who was previously engaged to British director Neil Marshall, 55 - best known for The Descent and Game of Thrones - filmed three projects while expecting Hunter.
Reflecting on her difficult labour experience and taking on the new role of being a mother, Charlotte says it has completely transformed her.

The meetings happened at their home, or outside in cars, lay-bys or car parks. If she went alone, she says, she was expected to film what happened and send it to her husband.
Within months, she was having sex with multiple men a week, Ruth says, sometimes as many as four in a day.
She did arrange some of the meetings herself, she says, and would appear enthusiastic about swinging, but she now says this was something she never truly wanted to do."

Drake Von -- an award-winning gay porn star -- is cooling his heels in a Las Vegas jail cell after getting arrested for allegedly trying to strangle his partner ... TMZ has learned.
Court records, seen by TMZ, show Von, whose real name is Dawson Bacon, was busted Tuesday by police and charged with two felonies -- domestic battery by strangulation and coercion constituting domestic violence with threat or use of physical force. Von was also charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
A rep for the Las Vegas Metro PD tells TMZ ... Von is accused of attempting to strangle his partner at a palatial million-dollar home in Vegas. The rep did not provide additional details.
As for Von's career ... it appears he's been doing gay porn since the age of 18 and is well known for taking the dominant role in his sex scenes. Von and his identical twin brother also started their own OnlyFans account, "The Baconator Twins."

Trump positioned himself as a swimming pool expert as he touted the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovations he ordered this year, having put in “more than 100” over his career.
But after spending $14 million in taxpayer funds, the Reflecting Pool now looks arguably worse than it did before.

Hi DL!
In our last days, I wanted to share something huge that happened to me during the Eternal Primetime. I found my birth mother. I used the same PI that Snooki ended up using! She was lovely.
It was obviously emotional on the day. We chatted on the phone for about 9 months before meeting in person (I never go to her corner of the country).
In the end, it was...fine. I didn't feel like she was my mom in any way. That's the wonderful woman who raised me. She answered my questions, told me some stories about her pregnancy and her family. She married a few years after my birth, they never had kids. She never wanted to be a mother, but believes in women's choice. Despite being deeply Southern, she's a proud Dem. We keep in touch, text and call sometimes, but that's about it. Pretty low-drama for a reunion.
In the media, you hear about the high drama stories "the family I was always looking!" or "a nightmare was waiting for me!" so I'm curious how many are "ok".

Former president Barack Obama this weekend appeared to drop an otherworldly bombshell: extraterrestrials exist.
“They’re real, but I haven’t seen them,” Obama said in a podcast released Saturday. “There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy, and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
The comments — coming in the 44th minute of a 47-minute interview with a popular liberal podcaster — sparked an outsize reaction on social media, including from UFO believers convinced the truth is out there and that government leaders have spent decades concealing it.

With the shuttering of DL, it seems timely to ask what DLers make of the homosexual world now, and where do we see it heading?
My take: from I what I can make out, most gays have zoned out of commujnity politics and gay media because it no longer speaks to their interests.
What I think most people generally find amazing is the extraordindary rise of gender fluidity into the limelight. Even in its expression at a grassroots level, with 'queer nights' at gay clubs – yesterday's marginalised femboys and diesel dykes rebranded and given a pedestal.
A fascinating thing to me is that this is simply history repeats: it was all played out before in Weimar Germany, where there was a long-running scratch fight over those who supported a mainstream masculine / feminine homosexual identity, and those who supported a third sex.
Also: do you feel alienated from it all, and not just because, say, you're older than an unfiltered Brenda D?
And lastly: what do the youngin's think? Have you asked them, while pretending to be a tender 20 on Grindr?

I mentioned Usenet in a remark in another thread. For those who might want to take advantage of this, here are some instructions on how to go about it:
With the end of July fast approaching, a lot of us are devastated about losing this space. Platforms like Reddit, Facebook, and Discord are corporate, heavily monitored, algorithm-driven, and sterile. They will never sustain or tolerate the specific culture, snark, and freedom we have here. If we want to keep this community alive exactly as it is—without corporate overlords, downvote buttons, or censorship—we should stage a hostile takeover of an abandoned corner of the internet: Usenet.
Specifically, the newsgroup alt.gossip.celebrities. It is currently a text-only ghost town. If a few hundred of us move in simultaneously, we can completely overwrite the space, establish our own culture, and post completely anonymously. Here is the "Zero-Dollar" guide to setting up your new home in under 5 minutes.
Step 1: Get a Free, Text-Only Account
Because we only post text, you do not need to pay for fancy Usenet download services. Go to Eternal-September.org (a legendary, completely free text-only server).
Click "Register" and create an account. You will instantly get a username and password via email. No credit cards, no strings.
Step 2: Use a Familiar, Free App
You need software to read and post to Usenet. Instead of clunky, old-school tech, use Mozilla Thunderbird. It is free, open-source, and looks exactly like a standard desktop email app. Download and install Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer. Open it, look for the "Newsgroups" account setup wizard, and plug in the server address: news.eternal-september.org Enter the username and password you received in Step 1.
Step 3: Find the Group
Right-click your new account in Thunderbird and select "Subscribe". Type alt.gossip.celebrities into the search bar. Check the box to subscribe, and you're in.
Step 4: Keep It Completely Anonymous
DataLounge works because of anonymity. Usenet lets you fake your digital identity easily: When setting up your profile in Thunderbird, you can make your display name "Anonymous". For your email address, use a fake, non-existent filler address like nobody@nowhere.invalid.
The Pros and Cons to Expect
The Good: Zero moderators, zero algorithms, zero corporate filters, and infinite text space for theater chat, celebrity takedowns, and casual gossip.
The Reality Check: Usenet doesn't do inline images; it's a glorious, unvarnished wall of text. Also, because it's unmoderated, commercial spam bots occasionally wander through. You will need to right-click bad posters and hit "Killfile" (Ignore Poster) to keep your personal feed clean.
Let's not let this community die. Pass the word, get configured, and see you all over in alt.gossip.celebrities on August 1st (or maybe before)!

Prince Harry is apparently harboring serious doubts about Prince William's future reign. New claims indicate the Duke of Sussex has questioned whether his older brother has the qualities needed to be king. The remarks come as William increasingly prepares for his future role as monarch and assumes greater responsibilities. If true, the allegations would reveal just how deeply the rift between the brothers is said to run.
Any hopes of a thaw in relations between Prince Harry and Prince William may be premature, according to a report. Recent months have brought signs of improved communication between Harry and King Charles. However, insiders claim the same cannot be said for the bond between the royal brothers.

David Del Rio isn’t taking his sudden firing last year from CBS’ Matlock over sexual assault allegations without a fight.
The actor “has initiated arbitration against CBS Studios to address false and misleading allegations that caused substantial professional and reputational harm,” Del Rio’s lawyer Shawn Holley said today of the behind closed door process with the Matlock producer.
“At the arbitration, Mr. Del Rio will present real-time text communications and evidence that directly contradicts prior public characterizations of the interaction at issue,” the Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump & Aldisert partner added. “This evidence was not fully considered before adverse employment action was taken. Mr. Del Rio looks forward to resolving this matter through the appropriate legal forum and has faith that a full evidentiary review will establish the truth and restore his professional reputation.”
Instigated today, the arbitration will be overseen by mediators from JAMS.
CBS Studios declined to comment, on the arbitration move or the status of the investigations over Del Rio. However, they did reiterate that Del Rio “has departed the series.”

The sexy fitness coach near his home in Honolulu, on a private beach. He believed one's surroundings contributed to a successful workout, and didn't want to be like other exercise shows being taped in a faux workout studio. He released countless VHS tapes and DVDs starting in the 80s, most of which rose to the top of the 'best sellers' charts in America and around the world.
The sexy Gilad Janklowicz , who was never married, was working on a new production for exercising which was to debut in America and Israel this coming October. He was to start filming this July, and friends said he was excited about the project.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – The ex-wife of rapper Eminem, Kimberley Anne Mathers, 51, of Chesterfield, pleaded no contest after she was charged with an alleged hit-and-run crash.
Mathers pleaded no contest on Monday (May 11) in the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore.
The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, when she was driving a white Range Rover and struck a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck parked on a street.
Police said the truck was pushed approximately 50 feet from where it was parked.
It is alleged that Mathers was impaired at the time of the crash.

Last week I started a thread on how Joan Collins resurrected her career by taking the role on 'Dynasty' 45 years ago, after more famous actresses passed on it - mainly, because it was written as a 'six episode story-arc' for the second season, and then the character was to be written off. Jessica Walter, Elizabeth Taylor, and Sophia Loren couldn't be bothered driving to the studio each day to be used for just six episodes, so they passed. Collins took the role, created a 'more memorable character' than what was written, renegotiated her contract before the sixth episode aired, and became the star of the show - lasting the rest of the run of the series.
I'm listening to an interview with Bill Mumy who starred in the classic sci-fi TV series "Lost In Space" on CBS in 1965, and he tells a story of how costar Jonathan Harris did exactly the same thing.
Harris, unemployed in a steady acting job at the time, was cast as the evil conniving enemy agent 'Dr. Zachary Smith' after two other actors were offered the role and turned it down. Harris didn't appear in the pilot episode in 1965, but joined the cast later on when it was in production. He was supposed to be on for just three eps in a short story-arc before being killed-off, and under the title 'guest star' so no one confused him as being part of the cast.
According to Mumy, Harris decided to turn this around and play the character to be so memorable with audiences in just three episodes, it would be impossible for creator Irwin Allen to kill him off. And it worked - Harris adlibbed different lines in the script to make him somewhat likeable to viewers (and Allen went along - he loved what was happening) and quickly became a fan favorite when the episodes aired. Irwin, in turn, quickly changed his storylines NOT to kill off Harris, and he became part of the cast - though Harris successfully negotiated to receive "Special Guest Star" billing on every episode, to separate himself from the others (and get paid a little more as a special guest star). Allen even paid him to help write some of the scripts since Harris seemed to have a better idea with storylines and where the series should go.
According to Bill Mumy, Harris moved quickly to develop the character:
"And we'd start working on a scene together, and he'd have a line, and then in the script I'd have my reply, and he'd say, 'No, no, no, dear boy. No, no, no. Before you say that, The Robot will say this, this, this, this, this, this, and this, and then, you'll deliver your line.' He truly, truly single-handedly created the character of Dr. Zachary Smith that we know — this man we love to hate, coward who would cower behind the little boy, 'Oh, the pain! Save me, William!' That's all him!"
The show was canceled in 1968 after 3 seasons, when the writers told CBS it was 'running out of story ideas' after 80+ episodes. Fans were furious and wanted CBS to bring it back, but it never happened.

“We’ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool,” Trump said in a late night post on Truth Social without providing evidence. “The algae is 75 percent gone, and the condition will soon be completely remedied, and the area that was vandalized, fortunately, is just a small area of damage, and will be fixed early next week.”

Marcy Walker, best known to daytime TV viewers for Santa Barbara and All My Children, has launched a fundraiser amid an “ongoing health issue.” Friends of the actress have started a GoFundMe to support her as she faces some challenges in her life.
“While she has spent years giving her time, energy, and heart to others—both as an actress and later through her dedicated ministry and community work—she is currently navigating an ongoing health issue where financial support is urgently needed,” reads the fundraising page. Walker played Liza Colby on ABC’s All My Children between 1981 and 1984. She would go on to star in NBC’s Santa Barbara as Eden Capwell before returning to the ABC sudser in 1995. Walker would continue on AMC until 2004 and returned in 2005.
As of this post, Walker’s friends had raised about 90% of the $15,000 goal. The page notes that “every single dollar raised through this page will go directly to Marcy to help cover her essential medical expenses, giving her the peace of mind she deserves.” Walker’s friends acknowledge that not everyone can contribute monetarily and encourage fans to “leave a note” remembering “a favorite memory of Marcy” as “she reads them and your words of love truly lift her spirits.”
“Thank you for your incredible generosity, your enduring loyalty, and for proving that the bond between Marcy and her fans is just as strong today as it was thirty years ago,” the page reads. “Let’s show Marcy exactly how much she means to us.”

What are the juicy stories that DL that over the years DL missed for various reasons?
I can think of three.
1. Oma Hamou – a perfect for DL case involving a scamming would-be starlet who managed to get herself on the cover of Variety wearing a wedding dress as Tsarina Alexandra! There was even a Korean flag in the corner to acknowledge sponsor. You couldn't have made it up. She seems to have faded into obscurity, but googling her name brings up old sites during the height of her notoriety.
2. The C-list starlets who exist on the fringes of Hollywood but manage to appear in (usually) el-cheap horror movies.
3. Lillie Jean Trueman: a delusional plain gel who would have you think she's a blazing upcoming Hollywood success story, and whose parents pulled a B. Dickson on their landlord for several years until being evicted this month. Her story has been avidly followed on at least two forums, but completely overlooked on DL as far as I'm aware, unless the threads were nuked. I'll post a link to her website. There are dozens of others of her ilk in the cryptocurrency world, but they're too boring to mention. Lillie however is a gem: naturally she takes herself highly seriously, so is prime DL material for our very deepest worship. She's also on YouTube and Instagram.

This critical and box-office disaster seems to be more or less forgotten, often cited as an incoherent mishmash of genres. I get the criticisms, but I've always had a soft spot for it. Beautiful cinematography, locations, and costumes, and a gothic atmosphere to die for. Sting was at peak beauty here. Solid supporting performances from Clancy Brown, David Rappaport, and Geraldine Page. Absolutely adore the poster art, too. Anyone else a fan?

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pasco County man described as a gay “adult film actor” and member of the Proud Boys, a far-right militant group, was sentenced to prison for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The FBI arrested Steven Miles, 40, of Zephyrhills in April 2022 after he was caught on camera assaulting Capitol police officers with his fellow Proud Boys in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election
Miles was charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers, civil disorder, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds with a dangerous weapon, and related offenses. In a D.C. courtroom on Friday, he was sentenced to two years in prison, a year of supervised release, and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.
He was tried alongside a codefendant, Matthew Lebrun of New Orleans, after the FBI received a tip from a woman who posed for a photo with the two men. She recalled the men saying, among other things, that they entered the Capitol building by breaking a window.

Fresh off her Oscar-nominated performance in Casino, Sharon Stone once again showed us her dramatic chops in Last Dance from 1996.
Her powerful performance as a convicted killer on death row was her strongest performance, even better than her performance in Casino.
Her performance should have been nominated and should have won that year. But somehow it was overlooked. Snubbed. Along with Courtney Love in The People vs. Larry Flynt and Madonna in Evita, our Sharon was overlooked for her incredible contribution to cinema. Disgraceful.
Thirty years later, the snub remains a stain on the Oscars.
In the film, Rob Morrow is fighting for justice for Sharon's character. Thirty years later, we're fighting for justice for the Oscars to recognize Sharon Stone.

If ever there was an actress deserving of the adjectives 'legendary' and 'iconic' it would be for Marilyn Monroe. I'm not sure if Millennials and Zoomers have been as interested in her life and career as generations past, but there really wasn't any other actress who came close to the intrigue and mystique she had in her brief Hollywood career. (Although I do recall in the late 70s, some Hollywood reporters tried to compare Farrah Fawcett to her - suggesting Farrah would pick up what Monroe left behind 15 years earlier).

Am just reading 'The Crichel Boys: Scenes from England's last literary salon'. Sort of like an upperclass Anglo version of DL.
Am awaiting arrival of 'A Queer Inheritance,' about gay stately home owners which is apparently very good.
Have previously finished the coffee table book bio of decorator Christopher Gibbs, whose boyfriend was 70s It-Boy Peter Hinwood, the monster in the Rocky Horror movie. (Would have liked more pics of him in the book!)
And also read 'Days Of Youth', the diaries of the day Edwardian shipowner. Surprised DL didn't jump on it (Times review at link). Edited by the same bloke who did the 'A Secret Between Between Gentlemen' trilogy about the Lord Battersea gay scandal.
Am always keen to hear recommendations of obscure gay books -- principally non-fiction, as there is no gay bookshop near me.

Last year I had a strangely unnerving experience, will try to keep it short. I got a voicemail from an unrecognized number, a woman plaintively, tremulously said my name & asked me to call her back if I could. I dismissed it for a day or two, then decided to just text her back & let her know she had the wrong number (but right name, coincidentally). As I completed the new text & sent it, the sent copy went to a preexisting text thread, with several texts between the two of us. Upon further inspection, I realized this was a former coworker of mine with whom I'd texted about 7 years prior. I sent her an additional text letting her know who I was & asking her why she'd called.
She texted back & told me she had a missed call from my number, though this didn't show in my call log. She also told me that my number belonged to her deceased brother--who shares my same name. That definitely sent chills up my spine!
Even stranger, though I hadn't heard from this woman in 7 full years, a day or two before the text exchange I'd dreamt of her. In the dream, she & I were on top of an unfinished building, walking on exposed beams through scaffolding to a panoramic vista, possibly in Nevada. An unknown man was with us as well. In the blink of an eye a wrecking ball swung & hit us, though none of us felt anything. The scene remained unchanged but I knew that the 3 of us had died instantly. As I was processing this, my coworker approached me & began to praise the construction workers, telling me they work hard & really know their jobs. I looked at her, completely flummoxed, & told her, But they just killed us!
There is a possible rational explanation for the missed call, though not the dream. My phone could've unlocked while in my pocket, gone to my text thread, scrolled back through 7 years of texts, found my former coworker's name, & butt dialed her; I'd later deleted the missed call since it was to an unknown number, though in my haste I would've thought I'd received the call. I actually think the more logical explanation is her dead brother worked up the oomph to call her from my/our phone number.
Another interesting tidbit, my coworker & I are both believers in the mystical/supernatural, & I remember a conversation from 10+ yrs back where she'd told me she'd astrally projected.

EVEN COWBOY SWEETHEARTS HAVE TO DIE
Even cowboy sweethearts have to die
Even cowboy sweethearts have to die
My hair was perfect and my moves all were fly
But even cowboy sweethearts have to die
[italic]The facts![/italic]
Started on the circuit when I was only three
We were the original Mommy and Me
Mommy fixed my hair and Mommy fixed my face
And it wasn’t long before I ruled this space
When I hit the runway, suckas jealous of my swagger
I sing like Leontyne and I move like Mr. Jagger
I came to stay and I came to slay, so: Walk away Renee,
There's a new queen in town and her name is JonBenet.
Hair toss, lip gloss
Your loss, weak sauce
I leave it all on the field like Randy Moss
But those days are past, even winners lose their placement
Now I’m choking to death on my vomit in a basement
Any sash I could wear it, my smile forty karat
I was never Tootie Ramsey, but my mom is Mrs. Garrote
You heard me chump, I had a bitch for a mother
And I ain’t no Nostradamus, but if I had to make an estimate
The fire that I’m spittin’ will be my last will and testament
I know upstairs they’re gonna blame it on my brother
And if I know my mother [italic](I know my mother!)[/italic] I know that her next action
Will be to write a piece of fiction about a small foreign faction.
Gonna get buried and I’m goin’ to the chapel
Didn’t know my last meal would be pineapple
JonBenet out! Wipe a tear from your eye …
Even cowboy sweethearts have to die
Even cowboy sweethearts have to die
Bye bye Burkie, time for me to flyyyy —
Even… cowboy sweethearts …
[JONBENET dies. Curtain]

Since the end is nigh, let’s reminisce about how you found this place in the first place.
The web used to be much better about directing you here for lgbt related web searches. About 15 years ago I guess now, there was this slutty brooding guy called “Stevo Bobbio” aka “Roman” who used to frequent the gay clubs of NYC and LA and Miami and I was curious what his deal was. There used to be threads here about him. I’m pretty sure he was an escort too. Alas he must have fallen off the face of the earth, as I haven’t heard of him in many, many years. A great looking guy, but truly seemed like a jerk who never smiled or talked to anyone or had a nice thing to say. Oh well, at least he brought me to many happy years on DL!

The Trump administration is allocating millions of federal dollars to an Embryo Adoption Program—classifying frozen embryos as “children who already exist” and funding services that treat adopting a frozen embryo exactly like adopting a child.
It’s a significant step toward enshrining fetal personhood—and a brazen move from an administration that’s been trying to avoid public abortion battles ahead of the midterms. After all, it wasn’t so long ago that Republicans faced a massive national backlash when Alabama’s Supreme Court declared that frozen embryos were “extrauterine children.”
The fallout was so bad for the GOP that Donald Trump released a statement distancing himself from the ruling and coming out in support of IVF.
I can only assume the White House thinks American voters won’t notice this total about-face because it’s tucked away in a call for grants from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). But the swooning response from anti-abortion organizations and conservative media will make it difficult for the administration to lay low—especially since those activists and writers are loudly celebrating what the White House is hiding from: enshrining fetal personhood and giving embryos full constitutional rights.
The document uses the word “child” or “children” nearly 40 times in reference to frozen embryos, calling the program “a response to the needs of children who already exist and are in need of a family,” and asking applicants to center “the wellbeing and best interests of the child.” The administration also refers to the “rights” of the embryo—a deliberate gift to the conservative legal groups eager to make that precise claim in court.

Rhoda Morganstern's accent is explained by the fact that she is SUPPOSED to be from NYC.

With the Datalounge dying in the bloom of its youth and primetime ending after 3 years, I can bare my soul.
15 years ago, we buried my brother on the day our parents would've moved in with him and his family as a test for their golden years. So that plan was out and it was all on me. Like many boomer wives, my mother ran everything: their household, finances, social calendar, EVERYTHING. So the plan shifted to, after my dad died, my mom would either move in with her favorite sister Golden Girls style or join me on the west coast. Mom was active, social, independent and reasonably tech-savvy. Dad is none of those things. So naturally two years ago, Mom died very suddenly after surgical complications.
My worst nightmare, it being down to me and Dad at the end, came true. To say it has been difficult would be an understatement. I've lived across the country from my parents for 20 years, doing my visits once or twice a year. My parents moved from the suburb I was raised to the middle of nowhere about an hour away (cheaper) shortly after I left for college. So visiting them has rarely been "fun". There's been love and good times but it's never been "home".
My dad, in typical boomer fashion, left most of the kid stuff to mom. We rarely spent time together just us and have very little in common. He made a few attempts, but my lack of interest in fishing and sports, his great loves, kind of sank that ship. And my dad is not very demonstrative. As a child I thought it meant he didn't love me, but as an adult, I get that he's just not an emotion-shower. Also an issue in their marriage. And in addition to the cognitive issues of old age, my dad has always been a little slow. He was in the special classes when he was in school and recent neuro tests show that he had a stroke...at some point. When, they can't say. He insists he never had a stroke. He's never had a smart phone and can barely work his TV. I've had POA since Mom died.
Dad was in a slow decline when Mom died, and it's sped up. He was living independently (with Life Alert and frequent checkins) until January. His semi-regular falls culminated in January, when he had some kind of open wound on his foot. He fell (not wearing his Life Alert) and his one neighbor friend called me and said that he was on the floor, and told him to get out and not call me. My dad was on the floor, unable to get up for a day and a half, before he finally agreed to let EMTs take him to the ER. I spent the next week waiting to find out whether he'd lose his foot. This came after I spent 5 weeks on his couch after his December pacemaker surgery. He's been in a physical rehab facility since and at a meeting the other day, they told me they don't see a path to him going anywhere but a nursing home. He's gotten used to be nursed over, he's incontinent, not walking much. Of course my dad absolutely doesn't want to go to a nursing home so that will be...yet another battle.
Guys, I'm so tired. There's been so many mornings where I've woken up to messages from my aunt (who lives nearby and is the only family available to help, who is old and has her own failing husband to care for) or from the rehab. He hasn't driven in over a year and refuses to sell his car, despite my urging. I have to handle everything gently. I feel like a parent to a toddler that will never grow up and I hate to admit that when my dad passes, the primary emotion will probably be relief. We've had some nice moments and done some bonding that we wouldn't have done otherwise, but I hate being a caretaker. When I was in the transport with him to one of his many doctor appointments during my visit last month, the driver told me I do a lot more than most people's children, which shocked me because I feel like I'm doing the bare minimum.

But with DL closing, I wonder if that is my cue to follow Muriel’s courageous example and leave the U.S. behind. - move to China and embracing my heritage - making up for all the years after being assigned the wrong race at birth.

I recently got notice that Words with Friends will soon be available on the app only, not through the website. Why does it have to be app only? What would be the downside to allowing some users to access it through the website? The only time I access stuff on the phone is when I'm out of town. Otherwise, I like to use my laptop when at home. My laptop has a larger screen, and it's easier to copy and paste stuff to other apps. And I can't really use excel, word, etc. on the phone.

Oprah Winfrey turned her Cannes Lions appearance into a call for creators to use their platforms for good, talking with festival chair Phil Thomas about philanthropy, legacy and her improbable path from rural Mississippi to becoming one of the most powerful self-made figures in media.
Inside the Lumière Theatre, where she received the festival's LionHeart Award, Winfrey used the stage to meditate on purpose and responsibility before an audience of advertising, media and creator-economy figures. She also reflected on the school she built in South Africa, her friendship with Maya Angelou, her childhood in Mississippi and her memorable interview with the late Whitney Houston on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
"We did the whole, 'Hey girl, how you doing?' greeting thing and then I stopped the cameras and I went behind stage and I said, 'So tell me, what do you want to happen here? And I'm gonna tell you what I want to happen here,'" Winfrey said. " And that was one of the most powerful interviews."
She said Houston later returned to the show to perform and had relapsed in her addiction. "I had such trust from 'The Oprah Show' audience … I think it was [Houston's] last show with us, and she had gone back on drugs," Winfrey said. "The first interview I did with her when we'd gone behind stage and I asked her about her intention, she was clean, but the day she came to my show then to perform in front of the audience, she was not, and she fell off of the stage."
Winfrey said she knew the moment could have been devastating if it became public. "I knew that if that story got out … she would be destroyed by that," Winfrey said. "And so even though the audience was there and the audience had cameras, I begged them not to put those pictures out because it would ruin her life, and they did not. That would not happen today, I can tell you that," Winfrey added. Houston died on February 2012 at the age of 48 after an accidental drowning.

This got so much publicity at the time, as Bette felt like she was set up by the producers to look like a senile old lady. I believe she even held a press conference afterwards and slammed the academy awards. Sadly, she never got another chance to appear on the show.
Looking at it now, it wasn't the fuck up that it was made out to be. Why didn't they just let Robert Wise speak after Bette praised Paul instead of just rushing to the orchestra? So much technical confusion going on, and it didn't have to be this way.
PS Bette looks sensational. This is arguably the best she ever looked post stroke.

lawyers for Julia Ormond are looking to have the court issue a bench warrant for the arrest of CAA cofounder Michael Ovitz for walking out of a deposition after being prodded about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Ovitz was asked about his continuing association with Epstein after the disgraced financier’s conviction for sex crimes. At one point, Ovitz stopped engaging. “I’m not going to discuss anything about Jeffrey Epstein,” he said. “You can ask all the questions you want, you’re going to get no answers.”
The line of questioning related to Ovitz’s assertion that he would’ve cut ties with Weinstein had he known about the former movie mogul’s history of sexual misconduct.
Ormond, who rose to prominence in the 90s after starring in Legends of the Fall, First Knight and Sabrina, claims in a lawsuit filed in 2023 that CAA’s top brass turned a blind eye to Weinstein’s crimes and failed to warn her about him before a 1995 meeting that led to her being assaulted. Ovitz was CAA’s chairman in the period immediately preceding the alleged incident.
In the deposition, Ovitz said he would’ve investigated any allegation of sexual misconduct by Weinstein against one of his clients. Asked what he would’ve done if the claim was substantiated, Ovitz replied that CAA “surely wouldn’t have done business” with him.

Earlier this week, American pop star Ariana Grande kicked off her first major concert tour in seven years. According to the press, the performances so far have been "supernatural" and "gravity-defying", with Grande herself being romanticised as a "delicate, dangerous" pixie.
But after seeing footage of Grande during her tour and the years preceding it, you can't help but feel that the mainstream media is hiding behind poetic prose because it lacks the nerve to state what is glaringly obvious: her extreme, skeletal thinness has now reached a point where it can no longer be ignored in good conscience.
This forced blindness feels haunted. It's impossible to look at Grande without the face of Karen Carpenter drifting into view. In the 1970s, the public and the media engaged in the exact same dance of toxic politeness, chalking up Carpenter's vanishing frame to "exhaustion" or, sometimes, the natural thinness of a hard-working performer. We all know how that story ended: Carpenter died on February 4, 1983, aged just 32 (the same age as Grande now), from heart failure caused by anorexia complications. Grande's fans, the majority born decades after Carpenter died, have also obviously spotted the similarities: Carpenter's name has been trending on X and TikTok all week.
To suggest that a multi-platinum pop star might be in physical danger is to invite the immediate, screeching wrath of her fanbase. And Grande's fans, the "Arianators", as they call themselves, are particularly crazy. On social media, her protectors have constructed a fortress of denial, aggressively policing any expression of concern with the defence that, "her body is normal for a skinny, petite girl" and that traumatic experiences in her past (including the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing and the death of her ex-boyfriend, the rapper Mac Miller, the following year) somehow make the extreme weight loss okay.
It is as if people were just making up the fact that over the last few years, while promoting her box-office-dominating Wicked films, she has been visibly shrinking in front of our eyes – as if we are all just worrying for fun. It is a gaslighting campaign of global proportions, demanding that we ignore what is plain to see.
Yet, while some deliberately obtuse fans aggressively normalise the disturbing photos of Ariana, those with first-hand experiences of eating disorders see straight through the PR campaign. One viral tweet reads: "It is so insanely funny to me that non-disordered people think it's fine and healthy while everyone with [an eating disorder] is like 'oh yeah that looks like around the time my organs started failing,'" and goes on to say, simply, that: "this is not what a healthy person looks like". Some concerned online fans are discussing boycotting the remaining dates of her world tour, in a desperate attempt to shock her into recovery.

I live in a small apt building and there is a decent looking guy who has been here for a while. The guy is an incel and never has anyone over- Head down, Nothing. No women, no friends. I find it really interesting. I have been too much of a pussy to talk to him for a year or so. I think he is a trust fund baby because he has not worked in months. I never wanted to fuck with this guy because no one needs a neighbor making them uncomfortable or weirding them out in their private home/building- he doesn't indulge any of the brahs here either. We share a love of a specific sport - not going into details.
The dude has gotten in incredible shape and I have been inspired gym wise.
Now he is MOVING ( I was looking around at places and my landlord just listed his place!) I am vibing that he won't be going far.
I would love a gym partner/friend like that who just doesn't fuck with anyone.
Doubt he's gay.. he could be a complete homophobe.
How the fuck do I bother this guy before he leaves!
I am not lifting a muu muu , not saying yum.
And yes, I am a pussy.
Leave a note on his car like a stalker?

Is anyone else following the 'We're Knot Done Yet' podcast which started this past Spring, and hosted by Knots Landing stars Donna Mills, Joan Van Ark and Michele Lee ? They also started broadcasting on YouTube back in September (WARNING: visuals of Joan Van Ark and Michele Lee may be disturbing for some viewers).
Overall, it's okay. Seven months in and it feels like they've talked about all they could possibly talk about regarding their time on the show, and what they wish to share about their private lives. The format is pretty simple:
The three hosts introduce themselves, and this gives Lee her chance to make a 'sex joke' of some kind, because they know how funny it is to hear (and barely understand) an 83 year old woman talk sex ! Very cutting edge. JVA reminds Lee they all 'love her', while Mills quickly wants to move on to the podcast.
The next twenty minutes is chatting about the show (JVA and Mills are interesting, while Lee derails every topic to talk about her and try to make everyone laugh). Sometimes they have a guest for the next 30 minutes, though not always connected to the show. Brian Austin Green, who was with the show from 1985-89 was very interesting. Lee doesn't like this part, because she can't usually steal the spotlight - they all ignore her and her improper outbursts.
They wrap the show (usually about thirty minutes long) by telling each other how much they love each other, and can't wait for next week. Hmm.
The most recent episode is where the three talk about their upcoming plans for the holidays. Mills reminded them that between Thanksgiving (she'll be spending it at her son-in-law's family's home) and Christmas (they're all going to Colorado), she has her big birthday coming up and they're all going to Hawaii to celebrate. (She doesn't say her age, but she turns 85 on Dec 11). JVA didn't offer much and indicated it was going to be a 'low key' holiday season for her and her family due to some 'family things' going on ( I hope it's not illness). Lee babbled on about something I couldn't understand (her dentures are awful).

A North Carolina mother of three who vanished over two decades ago was found alive and living a new life — leaving her family reeling with questions over her whereabouts, according to authorities and reports.
Michele Lyn Hundley Smith, then 38, disappeared in December 2001 after leaving her home in Eden to do Christmas shopping at a Kmart in Virginia, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith’s “troubling” disappearance prompted multiple agencies across North Carolina and Virginia, including the FBI, to search for the mother of three for “countless” hours and pursue multiple investigative leads, cops said.
A missing person flyer distributed at the time of her disappearance noted she should be considered “endangered” and “would not leave her kids by choice.”
Roughly 24 years later, Smith was found “alive and well” at an undisclosed location in North Carolina on Friday after officers received a tip, authorities announced.
Her current whereabouts will not be disclosed, though her family has been notified that she has been located, police said.
“I kind of want to go outside and scream, ‘She’s alive, she’s alive” Smith’s cousin, Barbara Byrd, told WFMYNews 2.
“My biggest question is to her … what happened all those years ago in December? What made you leave? What happened?” Byrd said.
“I never thought Michele was dead. I knew she was alive. It’s just a feeling that I had my whole life,” she said.
In a lengthy statement posted to Facebook on Sunday, one of Smith’s shocked children wrote that “these last couple of days… have been a whirlwind of emotions.”
“As far as my opinions and feelings on my mom…I am ecstatic, I am p***ed, I am heartbroken, I am all over the map! Will I have a relationship once more with my mom?” she said in the statement posted on a Facebook account dedicated to finding her missing mother.
“Honestly I can’t answer that because I don’t even know. My initial reaction would be yes, absolutely, but then I think of all the hurt…But even then, my mom is only human, just as we all are,” she wrote.
“When my mom was a part of my daily life, she showed me a love and bond that will never ever be forgotten. There were mother-daughter arguments of course, but right now all I can remember are the smiles we shared, the times together that were happy, and the love I felt!”
The motive for Smith’s disappearance is not immediately clear.

Unveiling “the world’s most luxurious plane,” as he called it at Joint Base Andrews on Friday, Trump appeared relieved to finally have an airplane that matches his own proclivities. “Everything was designed good. It was my taste, I will say,” he told a crowd of airmen, who watched him descend from the new aircraft — donated by the government of Qatar — on red-carpeted stairs after taking a tour. “I like the color of the American flag, right? That makes sense.”
Enter Qatar, who donated the new jet to the Pentagon last year. The White House brushed aside ethical, legal and national security questions about accepting a gift worth $400 million from a foreign country. The Air Force has been working ever since to prepare it for Trump’s use.

Liam Payne's 9-year-old son has inherited the late singer's fortune.
Bear Grey Payne, the only child of Payne and British singer and former "X-Factor" judge Cheryl Cole, has been named the sole beneficiary of the former One Direction star's estate, according to court documents reviewed by People.
Bear now has more than $29 million to his name. According to the filing, a portion of the inheritance can be accessed now, but the majority will be held in a trust for another nine years, until Bear turns 18.
During a 2019 appearance on "The Jonathan Ross Show," Payne opened up about fatherhood and spending time with Bear after the singer and Cole had called it quits.
"He comes over to my house every so often, and we just hang out and do whatever," Payne said of his then-2-year-old son. "I think you put pressure on yourself as a dad sometimes. It's hard to connect with it with a 2-year-old ... but they literally will laugh at anything. We put this Batman costume on him in the house, and it was a little bit slidey on the floor, and he kept falling off the sofa. And if I said 'Whoopsie-daisy!' and it was like the best thing ever."
Payne, who was one-fifth of the global boy-band sensation One Direction, died Oct. 16, 2024, after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. Officials determined the 31-year-old singer died from multiple traumas caused by the fall. He had traces of alcohol, several narcotics and a prescription antidepressant in his system when died, according to officials.
The boy-band star turned solo artist had been open about his battle with addiction and mental health and shared updates on his sobriety journey on social media.
After Payne's death, the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office of Argentina charged five people for alleged involvement in the pop singer's death, including a representative for Payne and the manager and the head of reception of the Buenos Aires hotel where the British singer fell to his death.
Another hotel employee and a waiter whom Payne met in a restaurant were charged with supplying the singer with narcotics.

-------------
Datalounge (often written as DataLounge) is one of the internet’s oldest and most enduring LGBTQ+ web portals and discussion forums. Known primarily for its sharp wit, Hollywood gossip, and anonymous discussion, the site holds a unique place in internet culture. DataLounge was launched in May 1995 by Mediapolis, a New York City-based web development company co-founded by Carl Pritzkat, Michael Rhodes, and Tony Travostino.
In its earliest days, it wasn't just a forum; it operated as a comprehensive gay web portal that aggregated news, editorial content, and hosted a network of related sites (like the dating service a.com and Gay Health). In 1997, when Out magazine temporarily shut down its web operations, its forum users were famously redirected to DataLounge, cementing the site's status as a central hub for the online LGBTQ+ community.
The culture of DataLounge is entirely distinct, driven by a highly specific blend of "old-school" gay sensibility, hyper-literate cynicism, gallows humor, and a deep reverence for showbiz history. Because the core user base skewed slightly older and highly media-adjacent — especially in its 1990s and 2000s heyday — the content that achieves the greatest appeal generally falls into a few major categories:
1. Hollywood "Blind Items" and Closeted Celebrities
Long before modern gossip blogs or TikTok creators took over the space, DataLounge was an active repository for industry insiders "spilling tea." Because it allowed total anonymity, people working at talent agencies, networks, and PR firms in LA and New York frequently dropped behind-the-scenes rumors. DataLounge made national mainstream news in 2005 when an anonymous poster claiming to work at ABC leaked a rumor that Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross was preparing to come out as a lesbian in The Advocate. The rumor became so massive that Cross had to publicly address it on The View.
2. Divas of Yore, Classic Hollywood, and Soap Operas
While modern pop culture is discussed, DataLounge users have an unmatched obsession with the golden eras of entertainment. Threads dissecting the lives, feuds, and tragedies of classic starlets (Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor) routinely generate thousands of posts.
3. Hyper-Obsessive Celebrity Relationships
In recent years, the forum has become famous for deep-dive, nearly psychological autopsies of specific celebrities. Threads about the British Royal Family (particularly the ongoing fractures between Prince William, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and King Charles) dominate the feed. Similarly, certain actors or high-profile celebrity couples will trigger "megathreads" that run continuously for months, analyzing everything from paparazzi photos to PR strategies with an incredibly cynical, analytical eye.

The settlement that ended Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively's blockbuster legal war began with an unexpected Friday night phone call.
Justin Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, told Fox News Digital that he received an "out of the blue" call from opposing counsel requesting mediation, setting in motion the settlement that ultimately ended Baldoni and Lively's explosive feud. Freedman said the agreement allowed his clients to publicly discuss court rulings that dismissed many of the claims against them after months of intense scrutiny.
"I think when you settle a case and your client was sued for 15 claims, of which two are dismissed by the other side voluntarily, 10 of the remaining 13 are dismissed by the court — and those involve sexual harassment and defamation — I think it's really important that the clients be able to speak about that," Freedman said.
"Because otherwise, you know, they're forever branded as being accused and responsible for that," he emphasized. "And it was important that they be able to speak about the fact that in summary judgment that the court dismissed those claims against them and that they paid nothing for the remaining claims to be resolved."
Baldoni and Lively first became embroiled in a legal back-and-forth after filming the Colleen Hoover-adapted film, "It Ends With Us." The "Gossip Girl" actress claimed she experienced sexual harassment on set and sued Baldoni in December 2024.
Lively detailed allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, intentional affliction of emotional distress, negligence and more against Baldoni and film producer Jamey Heath in a complaint first filed with the California Civil Rights Department and later in federal court.
Baldoni insisted that Lively had "falsely" accused him in an attempt to repair her reputation following the fallout of the movie's press tour after the actress took control of the film in his own $400 million defamation lawsuit. The lawsuit was later dismissed.
Freedman argued that the allegations against Baldoni and his associates shaped public perception long before the legal battle reached its conclusion. He said his clients spent months trying to overcome the narrative that was presented in Lively's lawsuit.
"The entire world, at least the entire world who paid attention, looked at that and thought that Justin and Jamie and the others involved were horrible people, and it was really incredible to try to move past that narrative and to be able to say, 'Hey, these guys are really good people. They're really meaningful people that they're honorable, they're honest, they are kind. And not only was there no sexual harassment that they engaged in, but there was no smear campaign that was engaged in.' And it was really super important that we be able to talk about that, the clients be able talk about that."
Freedman explained the circumstances surrounding the public narrative drove an unusual legal strategy. Rather than keep documents private, he and his team released records publicly and encouraged people to review the material themselves.
"I've never personally been involved in a case where — or even ever seen one in over 30 years of practice — where somebody puts out everything in the case and says, 'Here it is, decide for yourself.'"
Baldoni's legal team filed a 224-page response to Lively's lawsuit that included text messages, emails and more "receipts" as they pushed to share what they claimed was the other side of the story.
Freedman explained why "in the beginning it was so important" to turn over all the documents, saying that "What you were seeing were allegations that said, for instance, 'He came into my trailer and, you know, while I was breastfeeding,' right? Then you'd see the text message that said, you know, inviting Justin into the trailer while she was pumping. And then you see the emojis that were — the emojis that meant that it was sarcastic comments that were removed," he recalled.

One of his more viewed ones was about sexuality of guys working in gay pron. Q: Have you ever work with a straight guy on set? A: Yes, but like I was saying there are very few straight guys in industry; most are bi or gay themselves [insert retarted face].
While for 99.9% of society its obvious that most guys who take dick in their ass with a hardon and cum like gayzer(lol) are not straight we have some [older] guys who will desperately cling to allerged "fact" those guys are 100% HETEROSEXUAL. Just little reality check.

McDonald's is bringing back its quintessentially American fried apple pie, just in time to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday, the fast food giant recently announced.
As of June 23, the fan favorite has returned at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time.
It's available on the all-day menu and features McDonald's signature filling, with American-grown apples tucked into a flaky fried crust.
"Now this is how you celebrate America," one Reddit user commented on news of the nostalgic dessert's return after over three decades. Another user recalled its piping hot filling, writing, "I only burnt my mouth 12 or 13 times on these things before I learned my lesson."

Dawson COULDN'T EVEN.

Bonnie Blue claims she has broken a world record by sleeping with 1,057 men in a single day.
The 25-year-old OnlyFans star announced her record-breaking sex marathon with an inflammatory Instagram caption, writing: ‘Over 1,000 men in a day! Thank you to all the barely legal, barely breathing and the husbands.’ The sex worker built her brand on sleeping with ‘barely legal’ teens and taking their virginity, but denied allegations that she’s a sexual predator to Metro in a UK-first interview last year. Last week, multiple videos saw Bonnie looking for ‘boys, dads and husbands’ to sleep with her on January 11, the day she allegedly broke the record.
In a Q&A after completing the challenge, where she was asked which body part hurt the most, she said: ‘Probably down there… I don’t need a wheelchair… I am fine, it just feels like I’ve had a heavy day in the bedroom — which is exactly what I’ve had. ‘If it continued how it had for the first three or four hours I would have struggled.’ While the sheer amount of men is shocking enough, the news comes as a blow to fellow sex worker Lily Phillips who had been planning to break the same record in February.
The unofficial record was previously held by adult film star Lisa Sparks for 21 years, after she slept with 919 men at the Third Annual World Gangbang Championship in Warsaw, Poland, back in 2004. Lily, 24, had previously worked with Bonnie creating adult content, before becoming known for sleeping with 101 men in a single day.
Despite being filmed in floods of tears following the feat, she planned to have sex with 1,000 men in a day next month — but Bonnie has now pipped her to the post. The sex worker thanked the men who took part, saying: ‘1,057 isn’t possible without volunteers… thanks for the fluids boys. ‘Honestly thank you so much because if it wasn’t for you turning up putting your **** inside me I wouldn’t have any of this whatsoever, and it really has changed my life. Hopefully I can continue pleasuring you.’

Seems pretty obvious to me. I was at a Broadway show recently and the woman next to me...while holding a playbill...asked ChatGPT how long the show was. People are using EVERY excuse now to think. At all.
There's a LOT of AI "tools" for my industry, but the brain is a muscle. Use it or lose it. They could make my job easier, but I LIKE problem solving and thinking. Especially seeing my parents get older and losing their marbles, I wanna keep mine.
Using AI chatbots for even just for 10 minutes may have a shockingly negative impact on people’s ability to think and problem-solve, according to a new study from researchers at Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Oxford, and UCLA.
Researchers tasked people with solving various problems, including simple fractions and reading comprehension, through an online platform that paid them for their work. They conducted three experiments, each involving several hundred people. Some participants were given access to an AI assistant capable of solving the problem autonomously. When the AI helper was suddenly taken away, these people were significantly more likely to give up on the problem or flub their answers. The study suggests that widespread use of AI might boost productivity at the expense of developing foundational problem-solving skills.

A new report has reignited debate about the future King’s approach to royal duty after questions were raised about how often he has been carrying out public engagements compared to other senior members of the Royal Family.
Prince William has been focusing on family life and projects behind the scenes, but the mounting pressure on his workload is reigniting the debate about whether or not he is doing enough to prepare for the throne.
The future King is facing renewed criticism after figures highlighted by royal author Norman Baker show a significant gap between his royal workload and that of other senior royals.
According to the publication, the Prince of Wales carried out 57 official engagements between January 1 and June 15 this year, compared to King Charles III’s 76 and Princess Anne’s 100.
The gap has led to accusations that the future King isn’t doing enough to serve the public, especially as heir to the throne. The Daily Mail also pointed to his 2024 figures: King Charles’ eldest son had completed 166 engagements, while it was reported that Princess Anne had done 474 and King Charles had done 372.
The debate has been further intensified by his absence from several high-profile royal events. This has caused people to ask if he can strike a right balance.
While supporters argue that the King’s eldest son has chosen a more modern royal lifestyle, critics say the reduced public schedule doesn’t tell the whole story.
According to The Daily Mail, Norman Baker claimed the Prince is still very active in running the Duchy of Cornwall, contacting staff regularly and keeping an eye on its workings.
Baker argued that although the Prince often places family commitments ahead of royal appearances, he appears far more engaged when it comes to overseeing the duchy’s affairs.
The royal author also claimed that one of William’s early priorities after inheriting the estate was establishing an investment committee aimed at boosting its profitability.
This criticism arose with some observers questioning whether his focus on fewer engagements is an indication of a new normal for the royal family or a reluctance to do things the traditional way.
Questions remain regarding his public schedule; the royal is also drawing some attention for how he’s spending his time off royal responsibilities. The future King is reported to have a small group of close friends and loves love-ins, football outings, and private get-togethers outside of the limelight.
The Blast reported that the future King recently traveled to Istanbul with friends to watch Aston Villa. Insiders also described his friendship circle as highly selective, with royal matters often left out of conversations during their time together.
The report further claimed that the heir’s preference for an ordinary life is influenced by both Princess Diana and the Middleton family. Despite increasing royal responsibilities, sources say he remains committed to preserving that private support system.
The arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the UK has sparked hopes that the Royal Family might reconcile, but the feud hasn’t yet been cleared up.
As reported by The Blast, following their public interviews and documentaries and Harry’s memoir Spare, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that the monarch-in-waiting is “deeply betrayed” by Harry and Meghan. "The biggest challenge is trust,” Fitzwilliams said.
Reports have also suggested that the Prince is unhappy with efforts to accommodate the Sussexes’ visit, underscoring just how deep the divide within the family remains.
Prince William and King Charles are apparently seen to have different opinions on Prince Harry’s future in the Royal Family, despite an apparent attempt to mend the differences. While the King is said to be more willing to reconcile, William isn’t.
As reported by The Blast, sources claim the future King has little interest in rebuilding trust anytime soon. He continues to view Harry and Meghan’s actions since stepping back from royal duties as deeply damaging to the institution.

It was a CBS mid-season replacement series in '84-'85. Nancy Reagan was bored and itching to get back into acting, and anxious to further her anti-drug agenda ("Just Say No"). She played Nancy Delancey, the superintendent of a sort of boys reform/boarding school. John Amos played the principal; Debbie Allen played a kindly Social Worker; and Mr. T was a security officer, I think.
Canceled after only10 episodes, Mrs. Reagan then went back to being a devoted First Lady and incurable spendthrift/clotheshorse (she reportedly made off with her character's designer wardrobe, but nobody had the courage to protest).

Let's get serious here. Just how much money are we talking to do the needed upgrades to this place? None of this "more than ad revenue will cover" crap. I mean real dollars. If Muriel actually wants to save Datalounge then we need to get off our asses and look at hard numbers. What is the cost of upgrading? What would a membership fee need to be to keep the site sustainable? What would it cost to simply start fresh, and abandon the current format and archived threads? (I for one would rather lose the past if it means having a future.)
Are we talking $1,000? $10,000? $100,000? $1,000,000? Let us know the reality, and then we can see what can be done.

[quote]The show tells the story of Pepper, a working-class moving man who finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital. There, he must contend with patients who work against him, doctors who harbor grim secrets and perhaps even the very devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face down the entity that thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls. But doing so might prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.

If you watch it now, you wonder how Richard Attenborough's "Chaplin" could be described as a bomb. But it was. It cost $31M to make and only grossed $12M. Downey was adorably brilliant in it and so it was Attenborough's producing and directing that took the blame. And then Downey himself took an epic personal nosedive that would've finished off most careers. "It's like I have a shotgun in my mouth and I've got my finger on the trigger, and I like the taste of gunmetal." But phoenix-like he arose once again to become a staggering success with the Iron Man franchise. He's been around so long it's hard to believe he's only 61 years old. What would DL say his best (and worst) work was?

A live-action “The Magic School Bus” movie, starring Elizabeth Banks as Ms. Frizzle, is regaining momentum after six years in development.
Legendary Entertainment has acquired the rights from Universal, which initially optioned the project in June 2020. Meanwhile Rob Letterman (“Shark Tales,” “Detective Pikachu”) has signed on to write and direct the film.
“The Magic School Bus” is based on the beloved children’s books by authors Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen. Though plot details for the movie haven’t been confirmed, the educational series follows the eccentric teacher Ms. Frizzle and her class as they go on field trips in their yellow school bus that magically transforms into everything from a plane and submarine to a spaceship and surfboard to help them navigate terrain like outer space and the human body.

Clooney has responded to a catty WH statement following his public accusation that Donald Trump committed a war crime after Trump wrote a threat against Iran that “a whole civilization will die tonight.”
WH Communications Director Steven Cheung issued a statement to The Independent with the retort: “The only person committing war crimes is George Clooney for his awful movies and terrible acting ability.”
In a statement to Deadline directed at the Trump White House, Clooney said: “Families are losing their loved ones. Children have been incinerated. The world’s economy is on a knife’s edge. This is a time for vigorous debate at the highest levels. Not for infantile name calling. I’ll start. A war crime is alleged ‘when there is intent to physically destroy a nation,’ as defined by the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute. What is the administration’s defense? [besides calling me a failed actor which I happily agree with having starred in Batman and Robin?].”

A wardrobe full of designer labels and a yacht docked in Miami: You’d be forgiven for thinking it’s the life of a rich, middle-aged high-flyer — but it actually belongs to a newborn baby boy.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 52, and his fiancé Scott Hutchinson, 27, welcomed their son Romeo Tarquin on Aug. 12 via surrogate. A barrage of gifts with eye-watering costs have followed ever since.
“We just spent $2.8 million on a yacht for Romeo and named it after him,” Drewitt-Barlow told The Sun. “It is currently in Miami where Saffron [my eldest daughter] is boarding, with her new boyfriend and heading over to Cuba and the surrounding islands for two weeks.”
“We want to give him the same start in life as the other kids so we have set up a trust fund for him. Tony [my ex] gifted him $1.15 million and I matched it for him,” he continued. “We will obviously build up a nice portfolio of things for him over the next few years.”

And it SUCKS.
Painful sore throat.
A very bad cough that won't go away, even after a week.
Heavy mucus and sinus pain from all of the congestion.
And nothing seems to work on it. Not the OTC flu medicine, or antibiotics, or even regular medicine.
It's not the flu, because I was tested for it. And it's not pneumonia, because the doctor checked.
It's just a cold. A very BAD cold. And it fucking SUCKS.
Beware, everybody.

**Title: "Beverly Hills Bungle"**
**Plot Synopsis:**
Liz (Jennifer Aniston), a meticulous but frazzled single mom, and Karen (Melissa McCarthy), her carefree and clumsy best friend, are two down-on-their-luck next door neighbors in a run-down desert trailer park. Desperate for cash, they start a meth lab in Karen’s trailer, but things take a disastrous turn when an explosion forces them to flee. With the law and a vengeful drug lord hot on their trail, Liz and Karen seek refuge with Liz’s estranged, wealthy cousin, Victoria (Christine Baranski), in her luxurious Beverly Hills mansion.
Thrown into the world of high society, the pair must disguise their trashy roots and navigate a series of hilarious misadventures. From attending posh galas and mixing up social faux pas to accidentally ruining priceless art, their attempts to blend in with the wealthy elite lead to a cascade of comedic blunders. Despite their antics, Liz and Karen’s genuine hearts and unbreakable friendship win over the snobbish socialites, culminating in a chaotic yet heartwarming showdown that brings the entire Beverly Hills community together in a most unexpected way.

[quote]Marjorie Taylor Greene is riding shotgun alongside Tucker Carlson as he drives away from the Republican Party.
The ex-GOP lawmaker on Monday said she is finished supporting the Republican Party — which she branded the “America LAST” party — just like her pal Carlson. She also echoed Carlson’s claim that Republicans have betrayed the American public in favor of a foreign nation — namely Israel.
Greene posted on X on Monday: Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party. There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country. That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either. But we are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.
[quote]Her post comes a few days after Carlson announced he was officially ditching the Republicans.

Comedian / actor Paul Lynde was born 100 years ago, on June 13, 1926.
A character actor with a distinctively campy and snarky persona that often poked fun at his closeted homosexuality, Lynde was well known for his roles as Uncle Arthur on Bewitched, as the befuddled father Harry MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, and as a regular "center square" panelist on the game show The Hollywood Squares from 1968 to 1981. He also voiced animated characters for five Hanna-Barbera productions.
Lynde regularly topped audience polls of most-liked TV stars and was routinely admired and recognized by his peers during his lifetime. Mel Brooks once described Lynde as being capable of getting laughs by reading "a phone book, tornado alert, or seed catalogue". Lynde once said that while he would rather be recognized as a serious actor, "we live in a world that needs laughter and I've decided if I can make people laugh, I'm making a more important contribution."
On January 10, 1982, after Lynde failed to attend a birthday celebration, his friend, actor/model Paul Barresi, became concerned. When Barresi and another friend, actor Dean Dittman, could not get an answer after calling Lynde on the phone and knocking on Lynde's door, Barresi broke into the side entrance to Lynde's home in Beverly Hills, California, and found Lynde dead in his bed in the early morning hours of January 11, 1982. Lynde was 55 years old.
Stories circulated suggesting that Lynde had a visitor at the time of his death who fled the scene, but evidence indicated the stories were false. Lynde regularly activated his house alarm before retiring for the evening. When Barresi broke in, the alarm blared, indicating that Lynde had been alone at the time of his death and that he had died in his sleep. Contrary to other reports that Lynde was found naked, Barresi said, "Not so. Paul was in his pajamas and wearing a robe."
The coroner ruled the death was caused by a heart attack. Lynde's cremated remains are interred at Amity Cemetery, in Amity, Knox County, Ohio, next to those of his brother Johnny and his sister Helen. His mother, father, and veteran brother, Coradon, are buried at the same cemetery.

The longtime MAGA loyalist said he can no longer defend the party.
Political commentator Tucker Carlson says he’s done with the Republican Party.
“I would not support the Republican Party, there’s no chance,” Carlson said during a recent appearance on the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast. “[I’m] not going to support the Democratic Party. I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
In recent months, Carlson has repeatedly condemned President Donald Trump’s involvement with Israel, particularly the administration’s actions in the U.S.-Israel joint military conflict with Iran.

“Leviticus” is a genuinely scary Australian horror take on conversion therapy.
In writer-director Adrian Chiarella’s wildly assured debut feature, Naim (Joe Bird) and Ryan (Stacy Clausen), two teenage boys in an isolated town, start experimenting with their undeniable attraction to one another while wrestling in an abandoned warehouse. But when word leaks, adults in their fundamentalist community bring in a “deliverance healer.”
What follows is a wrenching supernatural take on the “curse” of queerness, as they’re each hunted down by a violent being that takes the form of the person they desire most. Guess who?

As alluded to on other threads, DL has become my primary source for news, replacing RSS feeds, garbage social media or any of that other nonsense. It was gradual and organic but I knew if anything was worth knowing, it would pop up here almost immediately.
In light of yesterday’s sad announcement, what will everyone do to sty properly informed?
Suggestions welcome.

Netflix is dropping a three-part docuseries that revisits Michael Jackson’s 2005 trial in which he was acquitted on charges of child molestation.
“Michael Jackson: The Verdict” drops June 3 and features archival footage and interviews with key players involved in the trial including jurors, figures from both the defense and the prosecution, journalists who were inside the courtroom and other eyewitnesses who saw the events unfold firsthand.
“It has been 20 years since the trial of Michael Jackson in which he was found not guilty. Yet, to this day, controversy still rages,” the filmmakers said. “No cameras were allowed in court, and so the public’s view of the facts at the time were filtered by commentators and presented piecemeal. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole.

Outside of the apps, how can you tell who will be which? Are there certain cues you pick up on from the other guy? Or do you just wing it and find out later when you get to the bedroom?
Discuss.

[quote]"I need your readers to know this: I am looking for love," the grandson of President John F. Kennedy tells PEOPLE in an interview about his congressional campaign and family legacy. “I'm not looking for casual anything,” the 33-year-old adds. “I wanna find her. I want to find her, I want to meet her, I wanna fall in love. I want to go on dates. I want to go on trips. I wanna figure out what we're interested in. I wanna talk. I want to stay up late talking. I want to find my soulmate."
