On 3 June 2026 at 17.15 – 18.30, senior UN and EU officials will outline why the EU-UN peacebuilding partnership has consistently demonstrated its value. As deliberations intensify for the next MFF (2028–2034) and the Global Europe instrument, the discussion will explore the value of sustained investment in peacebuilding, including through concrete examples to showcase impact and will seek the perspectives and guidance of MEPs in advancing that case.
From 25 to 27 May, a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) of six MEPs led by the Committee Chair David McAllister (EPP, Germany) will visit Cape Town, Pretoria, and Johannesburg, South Africa.
On 4 May (15.30–16.30), DG ENEST will engage with the AFET committee on Ukraine's progress on reforms and disbursement of funds under the Ukraine Facility. A day later, on 5 May (10.00–11.30), the members of the AFET Committee will discuss with members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the situation in Ukraine and the country’s path towards EU accession in the context of Russia’s war of aggression and continued attacks across the country.
