Wednesday 4 February is the World Cancer Day. Committee on Public Health will mark this important occasion already on the 2nd of February at it's committee meeting with an exchange of views with experts. Members of the SANT committee will debate actions already taken by the European Union and possible further actions in the fight against cancer.

World Leprosy Day raises awareness about leprosy - a neglected tropical disease affecting over 120 countries, with more than 200,000 new cases each year. It is an infectious bacterial disease that can cause skin lesions and nerve damage and is transmitted through prolonged close contact with droplets from an untreated individual. The day highlights the need to reduce stigma and emphasizes that leprosy is a curable bacterial infection when properly treated.
