Statement by Lynn Boylan on settler violence in Nablus

Brussels, 27 July 2026

In my capacity as Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Palestine (DPAL), I strongly condemn the violent attack in the village of Tell, near Nablus, in the occupied West Bank. My thoughts are with the bereaved families and wish those injured a full and speedy recovery.
Israeli authorities have themselves confirmed the settler incursion was not authorised. Unauthorised does not mean unforeseeable; it means unprevented. Settler violence is at record levels because accountability has not followed.

Calls for revenge and new outposts in response take us in the wrong direction. Online incitement against Palestinian villages must stop, and civilians on all sides must be protected.

The European Parliament has repeatedly expressed its opposition to settlement expansion and settler violence in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, which are illegal under international law and completely undermine the viability of the two-state solution. The July 2024 ICJ Advisory Opinion is unambiguous on this.

The European Parliament's Delegation for relations with Palestine will continue to draw attention to attacks on Palestinian communities by Israel and support all efforts aimed at achieving a just, lasting and peaceful resolution based on international law.

In order to facilitate a swift start into the new legislative term, the Parliament has prepared for the new Members a series of brochures providing detailed information on the EP's role in the external policies of the EU as well as the work of parliamentary standing delegations.
