Amending Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 as regards obligations of economic operators concerning battery due diligence policies

I voted for the proposal to amend Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 on due diligence policies for batteries. The proposal postpones the application of due diligence requirements, thereby providing the battery industry time to adapt supply chains given geopolitical challenges. This reduces regulatory burden that could harm economic competitiveness, particularly in the automotive sector.
The amendments highlight the negative impacts of environmental policies on industry, including flawed emissions calculations and the planned ban on combustion engines in 2035, and advocate for technological neutrality to ensure a level playing field. My vote supports measures that enhance industrial competitiveness and address regulatory challenges while prioritising EU economic interests.

Future of the EU biotechnology and biomanufacturing sector: leveraging research, boosting innovation and enhancing competitiveness

I voted against the resolution on the future of the biotechnology and bio-manufacturing sector in the EU. While I support amendments emphasising bioethics, human dignity, and Member States' right to stricter ethical standards, the resolution promotes policies that prioritise environmental goals over industrial and economic interests. These policies threaten key sectors through excessive regulation.
Additionally, proposals for centralised EU frameworks could disrupt Member States' autonomy, which must maintain control over sensitive bioethical and industrial decisions. Although the resolution seeks to reduce regulatory burden and support innovation, its connection to environmental agendas and centralisation potential outweigh the benefits of the proposed ethical safeguards.
My vote reflects a commitment to protecting national industries and sovereignty while ensuring that biotechnological progress respects ethical principles without compromising economic priorities.

Tackling China's critical raw materials export restrictions CS

Podporuje opatření k posílení strategické autonomie EU prostřednictvím domácí těžby, recyklace a partnerství s důvěryhodnými spojenci, čímž snižuje závislost na externích zdrojích. Tato opatření posilují ekonomickou konkurenceschopnost a řeší zranitelnosti v kritických dodavatelských řetězcích. I když některé prvky zahrnují zapojení EU do globálního obchodu, můj hlas odráží prioritu ochrany průmyslu EU a zajištění jeho odolnosti vůči vnějšímu nátlaku.
