Stock Assessment Update of the Bottomfish Management Unit Species of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, 2025

August 11, 2025

Bottomfish management unit species in CNMI show stable exploitable biomass since the previous 2017 assessment and are not overfished.

A stock assessment of the bottomfish management unit species (BMUS) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) was conducted using data from 2000 through 2023. Bottomfish resources in CNMI are managed as a single multi-species complex which includes 13 species specified by the Fishery Ecosystem Plan (FEP) for the Mariana Archipelago.
