Case Reports in Gynecology 2026/2027

Gynaecological care continues to evolve through advances in minimally invasive surgery, molecular diagnostics, targeted therapies, and precision medicine. Yet individual patient cases still challenge established clinical pathways, presenting with rare conditions, atypical symptom patterns, unexpected disease progression, or exceptional treatment outcomes.

This Research Topic aims to publish high-quality Case Reports that offer practical insight into these uncommon or surprising clinical scenarios across the full spectrum of gynaecological medicine.

This collection is dedicated exclusively to gynaecological case reports. Submissions focused on obstetrics will not be considered and should instead be directed to the companion Research Topic, Case Reports in Obstetrics 2026/2027.

Each accepted case report should function as an educational resource, demonstrating clinical reasoning, diagnostic strategy, multidisciplinary decision-making, and therapeutic intervention across gynaecological practice. The scope is intentionally broad and includes, but is not limited to:

• Diagnostic challenges in rare or atypical gynaecological conditions, including unusual presentations or mimics
• Innovative medical, surgical, or interventional approaches in gynaecological care, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery
• Complications in gynaecological procedures or perioperative care
• Comorbidities (e.g., autoimmune, endocrine, metabolic, haematologic, or mental health conditions) affecting gynaecological trajectories and patient outcomes
• Imaging and technological advancements in gynaecological diagnosis and monitoring
• Genomic, molecular, and translational methods to support diagnosis, risk stratification, and counselling in gynaecological oncology and benign disease
• Endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian pathology, polycystic ovary syndrome, pelvic floor disorders, and other gynaecological conditions presenting with unusual features or requiring novel management
• Fertility-sparing approaches and reproductive outcomes in the context of gynaecological oncology or complex benign disease

In alignment with the mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology section of Frontiers in Medicine, this Research Topic supports progress toward SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
